Don’t expect the best service here. I used to come here when I had early morning shifts at the campus radio station(yes back when I volunteered at the radio station). It’s run by students who seem clueless half the time. Luckily my order has never been screwed up as I just wanted hot water and a tea bag but I have witnessed other’s frustration especially during the am rush. Expect an eye roll if you request a large tea. I don’t like my tea strong, therefore, always get a grande with my single tea bag.

This Starbucks is really bizarre. It’s in an easy to get to location, but I’m definitely going to be going to the one in the bookstore from now on. I’ve had my order screwed up a lot here, which is fair enough since it’s usually busy and loud, but if a mistake got made on an order I don’t feel like I should be lectured about asking to have a drink remade. Yes, I realize the order is written incorrectly on the cup and that’s why you made the drink a certain way. I was not the one writing the order down and so telling me, «Well, that’s what it says on the cup» doesn’t really solve our problem. Also weird, this Starbucks has all sorts of rules normal Starbucks don’t have. They won’t sell you a «tall in a grande cup» for loose-leaf tea; they won’t make«no water» drinks for you(or at least, they won’t for me), although I wasn’t told this until AFTER paying for my order; I’m not sure they’re restocking on some supplies at all? They seem to always be out of certain things. With all the other Starbucks on campus, I have to say I think the only reason this one is still afloat is because it’s so centrally located, but we should be able to do better!

I come here quite often, and usually its ok. Its located in the sub so obviously itll be super busy and that’s understandable. I patiently waited for my order after waiting in a n insanely long lineup, paid as quickly as possible, and waited by the side. I waited for 15 minutes for my drink and all the people after me got their drinks. I politely asked where my drink was and a female employee there, a little bit older than the others, was quite impatient, asked me what I ordered and said somebody else took it. She made me a hot drink hastily and I said I ordered an iced one, and she basically blatantly blamed me for not stating it clearly. She even sighed and rolled her eyes. Um excuse me? I waited wayyyyy longer than the others, you gave my drank randomly to somebody else, I didn’t complain and you blame me basically for wasting your time? Normally the staffs are ok, but she was quite rude and impatient. In the end, she gave me the right drink but it tasted so bad I just threw it away. I’d rather walk all the way to the village now to get my caffeine, or even bluechips/tim hortons.

Had the misfortune of having to visit this starbs once or twice. Rudest barista I’ve ever met. Tried to get a pump of syrup(back when gold card members got that free) and was given a snarky«we don’t do that here.» Later, I was charged for my refill(which should be free) and was told«well of course I charged you.» Lady, who peed in your Cheerios this morning? Lighten up!

This is the worst Starbucks in the history of Starbucks locations. Seriously. If you’re paying 4 $+ for a drink, you should expect to have a great drink EVERYTIME. Supposedly Starbucks prides itself on providing quality drinks every time BUT every time I’ve gotten a drink from this location it has been below average and quality. There should be ¼″ foam on the top of the cup, and baristas should be trained to make this foam properly; if they can’t make sufficiently enough dense foam for a drink, they should be on cash. My drink seldom has foam on it from this location, and when it does it is so airy that it disappears very quickly. Additionally, my drink is most always lukewarm. Where is the quality control? The customer service is also lacking. Serving to hundreds of University students a day must obviously take its toll because this staff is extremely rude, dismissive and unprofessional. They talk about other customers at the till while serving a different customer, and they are very unresponsive when I’ve thanked them for their service. I avoid this location at all costs now, and am happy to support Blue Chip around the corner where their drinks are of higher quality.

Unfortunately, like every place that serves food or beverages in the SUB, this location gets super busy many times during the day. The morning staff here, however, are really fast and efficient. Someone always comes to take your order first, then you pay later in assembly-line fashion. You can be in and out of there in less than two minutes from ordering. They also accept UBC food money :)

For some reason the coffee at this Starbucks location always tastes watered down and slightly cold. They are very busy so are always running out of syrups, etc.

This Starbucks is located in the Student Union Building right near the bus loop. I’ve been to this location a few times, and the barista’s have always gotten my order right(they even knew what a London Fog was!). I’ve gone here early in the morning and during class change, and I’ve always gotten my drink within 5 minutes of getting in line. There’s plenty of seating in the area, but I’ll admit it’s not the cleanest(but what food area on campus is?) I was really excited to find out that they take Starbucks gift cards. Normally food service places on campus don’t, so if you have a gift card use it here! Overall, there is many better coffee options on campus, but if you just want your Starbucks fix, this place is worth going to.

More often than not my order is wrong or subpar(lukewarm drinks, soggy pastry). I always want to ask for it to be made right, but the staff are so busy and harassed-looking.

Full service Bucks in the Student Union food court. Atmosphere, meh. Cleanliness, ick. Service, reasonably friendly. Overall, it’ll do in a pinch but hold out no hope of relaxing over a cuppa.
