Some tacos are good(pastor or cochinita), some are plain(pescado, pollo, chorizo and steak). In sum, everything is just average. Taste and portion size does not justify the price. Won’t be back.

The search for Ottawa’s best Taco’s continues for me. Kukulkan offers an interesting Variety of taco, Torta and other dishes. I ordered 3 tacos to go and they were quite good. Went with the usual suspects, Al Pator, Grilled Chicken and a grilled beef. They came with three Salsa(Verde, Roja, and Habenaro). These were all good and the Habenaro was sufficiently spicy. The corn tortillas were OK. I’m still looking for a really really good corn tortilla.

This place is a real gem. I’ve been four times, and each time was a different, flavorful experience. It is not fast food. It’s about as far from Taco Bell as you can get when it comes to tacos. Everything is fresh. The salsas are wonderfully complex and diverse. The tortillas would be good enough on their own without any help. If you are looking to be a little surprised by how much better real Mexican food can be from poor North American imitations this is the place for you.

Nice authentic taco place. A little out of the way but worth the drive if you are looking for something a little different

Me and a coworker had lunch at Taqueria Kukulkan. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and staff. Menu advertises authentic Mexican fair like grandma would make. We ordered based on the suggestions from the waiter and our food was served promptly and looked freshly made. The problem was it was very bland. There were green and red salsas on the side as well as some onions and tomato bits. Everything tasted the same and did not feel freshly made. Our biggest issue with the food however was that it was floating in oil. The fish taco was covered in deep fried oil, the sandwiches were dripping oil, the platter was covered in oil. We expected authentic Mexican food to be full of flavor and bursting with freshness. Instead we ended up eating bland salsas and oil. KFC chicken has less oil on it than the food we had here.
