Our friendly, knowledgeable staff welcome the opportunity to help you find just the right yarn, pattern, needles or hooks for your knitting or crocheting project. You can’t find what we offer in the big box stores. We are the only Canadian supplier for specialty yarns such as Hedgehog and Plymouth Encore.

Looking for something specific? You’ll find quality yarns such as Berroco, Cascade, Sirdar, Estelle and knitting needles such as Addi Turbo and Brittany. We’ve recently added hundreds of crochet hooks to our collection and now offer them in sizes ranging from 0.6 mm to 10 mm. Our worsted, sock yarn, fingering yarn, and baby yarn can be found in a wide array of colours.

History

Established in 1983.

Georgetown Yarn has been a part of the Georgetown business community for over 30 years, with the last 18 years at its current location on Guelph Street. We are the ‘go to’ spot for quality and hard-​to-​find yarns, premier knitting needles, tools and notions. Under new ownership since December 2014, Georgetown Yarn continues its tradition of exceptional customer service and quality products at a reasonable price.

Business Owner

New owner, Betty-​Anne Whipp, is a life-​long knitter. Although her professional background spans years working as an administrative and social media specialist, there has always been the knitting. It is a rare day that Betty-​Anne doesn’t have a partially knitted pair of socks stuffed in her purse with yarn bought from Georgetown Yarn. Having been a customer for 18 years Betty-​Anne was thrilled when the opportunity came her way to purchase the business.
