Today as apart of a staff function, I ate lunch at Chenoy’s. I had an idea of what to expect but what surprised me was the price for that type of restaurant. They offer a variety of deli style sandwiches; smoked meat, club, etc. and burgers, pizza, seafood, the works! So given the style of the restaurant and the menu, it was so overpriced. I asked if they had chicken burgers since the ones listed were all beef. The waiter said that it was a chicken breast instead of a patty, fine. Then when I proceeded to say that I would like to order their«Oscar» burger but with the chicken breast, he had to go back to the kitchen to find out if that was possible. Once he got back he told me I would have to be charged for double bacon and double cheese. Huh? Who does that? Since I was the first one to order in our group of 13 I didn’t want to keep everyone waiting. When it came time to get my bill it was $ 20!!! The Oscar burger was listed at $ 12.95 on the menu. Ridiculous! I’ve never been to a restaurant who would charge so much extra to swap out a piece of meat. Very disappointing and totally not worth it.

Let me start by saying I had Chenoy’s a week after having Schwartz’s so that was on my mind and even on my taste buds when I came here. I had a craving for smoked meat and my friend told me about Chenoy’s having good Montréal smoked meat. We came by and ordered the exact same thing we would have ordered at Schwartz’s! 2 medium smoked meat sandwiches and fries. I’m not sure what it is but the smoked meat here tastes ok but the texture was off putting. It was slightly plastic like and wet… which was weird. I’m sure any other month when Schwartz’s wasn’t nom’d so close to this trip it might have been ok. My friend did say that they did not enjoy it was much as in the past. I’m not sure I’m going to come back here often but if I do I’m definitely going to try other items.
