I always enjoy the atmosphere and the comfy chairs here. Be prepared to have to kind of yell over the acts though. The live entertainment is great, just usually a little to loud for comfortable conversation.

A friend suggested The Urban because of the entertainment. They regularly have duos and trios playing there. Tonight it was Niagara locals Accordian Crimes with Mark Lalama, the pianist from Canadian Idol. The man is wicked on the piano and funny too. As the name might suggest, The Urban has a restaurant and lounge, as well as a patio. The lounge side has a combination of bar with stools, cocktail tables and easy chairs. The setting was comfy and clean with a nice restaurant in a strip mall feel rather than any old world charm or such. The crowd, at the time, was definitely older. I give the place four stars because the entertainment was great with no cover charge, the menu is creative, the food is fine and the service was okay. I am impressed with their menu. Check it out at their website. We had appetizers. Mine was a grilled chicken and steak strips dish and my friend got the nachos. The steak was great. The chicken and nachos were fine — not extraordinary. Our drinks, martinis on the one hand and cranberry & orange juice on the other, were just a little off. In my case, the orange juice was not great, but not a deal breaker either. The service was attentive and friendly enough. Our request to switch tables, to not be so on top of the performers, was happily acknowledged, but not acted upon. I would enjoy going back for the entertainment and happy enough to go back for the dining. Oh, not an issue for locals, but if using a GPS or GoogleMaps to get there, watchout, both of mine were a bit off. It helps to note that 20 Highway is also known as Canboro Road.
