The selection in Fergus is pretty limited, so this place was okay… but I wouldnt go out of my way to return. Selection of beers was good, food was average.

This is such a fantastic little pub with a beautiful view in Fergus! As a tourist visiting the area, I have to admit that the view(and being on the river) was a pretty strong factor in my restaurant choice. Brew House did not disappoint. They have a traditional pub menu — we both had burgers which were great! and a decent selection of beers on tap. The service was prompt and really friendly, offering suggestions and getting my order(with a few annoying omissions, ew, onions!), perfectly right. The view is really the best part of this place — they have a beautiful patio and there are three tables that overlook the river perfectly. my only complaint would be that they could definitely use some more umbrellas on the patio — it was hot! Arrive early and get the coveted umbrella spot on the water!

Gord and I had an early supper today at the Brew House. We sat on the patio for a while but found it too chilly(16C/15C with the windchill) so we went inside. Gord ordered Spicy Black Bean Soup and a Ribeye Fajita Wrap. I had a taste of the soup and it was too SPICY! Gord found it too SPICY also and said there weren’t enough black beans(it seemed more like a spicy veggie soup). He wouldn’t get it again. He did like the wrap and said he’d get it again. I ordered the Curried Chicken Enchilada. I love love love curry … but I didn’t get a lot of curry taste from this. It tasted strangely smoky. And it was odd to have sweet Thai sauce drizzled on the outside. I wouldn’t get this again. A couple servers took good care of us.

First, the positive: the deck is beautifully set above the Grand River, the beer selection great, and the service cheerful and prompt. But the food is plain mediocre, especially given the prices they charge. I had the supposedly delicious hand-formed burger, which came out tasting off and charred to a crisp. I complained to the waitress, who told me that they have to cook non-Canadien beef through to avoid food-borne illness. Well, for a burger at $ 12 and up, they should be using local-sourced or at least Canadien beef. My wife had the fish, which was at least edible but nothing special.

The food and atmosphere here are good but my last visit gave me some concerns about cleanliness. As I finished my coffee I saw a stain at the bottom that clearly was from a while ago — felt like I was drinking from a dirty cup. We found someone else’s wadded-up gum on the plate/cutlery stack on our table. We found a dark hair stuck to a french fry on one of our plates. This kind of thing really taints the visit even though the menu looks great and our food otherwise seemed good.

Best chicken wings in wellington county hands down. Always excellent food and great service. I would say by now we are regulars here, we head down for wings at least a few times a month. The wings are massive and perfectly cooked. They are the only place in the area that is not afraid to get serious with their suicide wing sauce, it is awesome. I’ve had several items off the menu over the years, all of which were great(fish and chips, steak, peppercorn onion rings, ribs, pulled pork sandwich) but I cant help myself but get those wings and a pint of Kieth’s every time now. The Service really makes this place one of the best restaurants in the area. Dennis, Glen, Sara, Jackie are awesome servers and have always given us great service. Keep it up the good work Brewhouse
