I went here to get my hair cut and styled for a wedding. I Had a great hair stylist, Violetta who was very nice and professional, she cut my hair the way I wanted and styled it perfectly. I would definitely go back :)

I saw Hamid at Tonyc. He was EXCELLENT! He listened to exactly what I wanted and I went from black hair and wanted blonde. I went in with hopes for blonde and he gave me exactly that. He worked magic. He offered me a drink and was so nice I will definitely go back to him. I AMSOINLOVEWITHMYHAIR!

Being a mall salon, I didn’t have high expectations for this place going in. My stylist was friendly and did a pretty good cut and style. What was missing from this place was the«extras» that I expect from a salon of these prices — I was not offered a drink, the stylist abruptly walked to the cash when she was done cutting my hair instead of helping me to disrobe, and just seemed to be more concerned about making sales rather than building a guest connection. Of course, when it came time to pay, the price was higher than what was communicated on the phone when I made the appointment. This often happens at salons like this, so I would be careful to make sure if you are at all concerned about price. Compared to the other mall chains eg. Donato’s and Fiorio, this place falls a little short. I probably wouldn’t go back.

This was a while back but I felt it important to write this review after a friend also got a crappy cut from here. I made an appointment by phone to get my bangs trimmed and they gave me a quote of $ 5-$ 8. They ended up charging me $ 12. But that’s not the worst part. When I sat down I told the stylist I just needed my bangs trimmed slightly because they were touching my glasses. I also asked they NOT be cut above my eyebrows. Because I didn’t have my glasses on I couldn’t see what he was doing and everything felt normal until he started blow drying my bangs. He kept using the palm of his hand to push down hard on my hair while he was blow drying. After I put my glasses back on I realized why: he had trimmed my wet bangs WAYABOVE my eyebrows and was trying to smush them down with his hand as it dried! WTF??? How do you screw up a bang trim??? Needless to say I have not stepped foot in that salon again. I should have vocalized my grievance at the time but I must have been in shock.

I’m not typically a fan of mall salons but after finding Kayla at Tonyc in Sherway Gardens, I’m never going anywhere else. I like to change up my hair color and style and can be pretty picky and Kayla takes the time to understand what I want and give her recommendation. I’ve never been disappointed.

This review is for Hamid who was absolutely fantastic and what I recommend him for is colour and highlights. Great for first-timers and perfectionists! First of all, availability and cost were much more agreeable than any other place — this is the place with the best bang for your buck as I’ve found over 2 years of mulling over this decision. After hearing from Salon A(not its real name) that there were no availabilities for quite some time, I decided to throw caution to the wind and go with a place I knew to be good value from experience getting trims there as a kid. Well, as it turned out, it was not only significantly cheaper(surprising when you see the aesthetic heaven that is the salon) but also I went in and right away they grabbed a handsome man who was off to get a bite to eat and on the spot he agreed happily and no question to take some time to work on me! I have never had my hair coloured or altered much at all(just trims) as I’ve often heard suggestions to «never do anything to [my] hair — it’s perfect!» and I know NOTHING about hair. But lately I’ve noticed it fading from the million dollar shiny spun gold it was when I was a kid to some strands that colour and others a dark honey/some even say brown so I figured I might try out highlights(full-head). Going to other consultations, when I asked for an explanation of what full-head highlights entailed as a process I was given some runaround description that made it seem like they barely even knew what they were talking about — how is that possible when they offer and perform it on a regular basis? Well, it is possible, and a terrible indication. So immediately at consultation, Hamid stood out. He listened intently to what I wanted done even though it was not how the full-head highlights is usually done, and even let me save a few choice golden strands as tokens. I hate hairCUTS nevermind how much I would hate a hair colour under normal circumstances. I’m talking crying, yelling, alienating friends and family members — but there was none of that this time. I looked like a better version of myself — not too different to regret and not too similar not to notice — and thus far my boyfriend who will tell it like it is and insult you and laugh if it’s bad also LOVES it and hasn’t had a rude word to say. Oh AND he was completely pleasant — the conversation is not forced but consistent and he has some valuable philosophies to share like how to stay young and happy — though nothing out of bounds. I would have paid 100 extra just for the compliments and TED talk!
