My favourite Etobicoke grocery store; sure beats Metro (expensive) and less busy than No Frills (annoying and slow). Prices are similar to No Frills. Main plus; easier experience, less people.

This store 928 in particular is the worst among other Food Basic stores. Few days ago I went there around 9:30 PM, I experienced the most incompetent, strange service ever! I was over charged for 2 items; when I asked the cashier who served me who was new, she told me to ask another cashier. I had to go and ask and try to explain to another cashier to give me back the credit. She refused to help and came up with unreasonable explanation that the bill was correct without even looking at my receipt and a merchandiser backing up her, so that they can go home early. I asked her to call the manager, she ignored. This went on good 20 minutes, I was very frustrated and told her that she should look at least to my receipt. This time she told me that I was raising my voice da… shouldn’t I?
Looks like she is doing me a favour selling me tomatoes and apples!!!
An older cashier overheard and came to ask about the problem, she did not come across to me as a manager, since they did not take her seriously and she did not act like someone who can be in charge. She finally looked at my receipt and said that I was right. She refunded but was at the same time smirking and being dismissive.
Almost half an hour, waiting till me receipt gets fixed. Service with an attitude.
They acted as if I bothered their majesty. horrible experience !!
2 years ago I bought Feta cheese from there large size 5 KG, after few days I opened the lid to find out that it was smelly like a mud. I had such a hard time to return, had to go through their central office to return. did not go there for 2 years. This year I went few times since it is close to where I live, now this happened.
This kind of stores you just wish that they close down!

What can I say; it’s a grocery store. The cheaper alternative to Metro.
