If you love baked goods this is the place to go. The shop consist of a wide range of breads, baked goods and coffee. They have fresh pastries, cakes, cookies and specialty desserts. I came for some dessert: apple strudel, tiramisu, fruit tart, carrot cake and hazel chocolate tart. They were all so good but my favourite was the carrot cake. So moist and fluffy with a nutty cream cheese icing. Overall what a great bakery and good pricing. I paid $ 10 for everything. I have the biggest sweet tooth and can’t bake; too bad they don’t have a shop in Calgary.

Bread for days! Pastries galore! How did I grow up in the west end and never hear of this place? Located just north of Kipling Ave and The Queensway, this is a large establishment — when we drove up, I was expecting a tiny little bakery. Boy, was I wrong .This is legit a bread factory — on the Saturday morning we visited, cars were streaming in packs towards the designated parking spots, crowds of people entering. This is evidently a popular spot. First, parking. As mentioned, there are spots designated just for Dimpflmeier customers — there isn’t a lot, but there’s a good amount. Regardless, come early, because it gets crowded. Second, what they offer. Literally, from wall to wall, baskets upon baskets and shelves upon shelves of fresh bagels, breads, baguettes, rolls, pastries, cookies, danishes, donuts, cakes, you name it. They even had pre-packaged boxes of freshly made cookies and pastries you could definitely bring to a dinner party. We picked up a couple of cheese breads and cheese twists just to try, and it was under $ 5.00. It looks like their croissants and pretzels are quite popular — will buy more of these next time. Third, they have a café connected to the bread shop that has a decent amount of tables, and where you can sample their breads and pastries(think tiramisus, cheesecakes, etc). I had a latte(around $ 2.00) and hazelnut ball that tasted like a massive Ferrero Rocher. The latte was okay but the pastry was pretty good! The café was also packed on a Saturday morning with groups and families — so again, come early! Fourth, the service. Perhaps the one downside is that service is not the best, as others below have mentioned. You’ll get very curt, disinterested replies. Not very helpful at all. Besides this, no other complaints. I will definitely be back here again to try out their other breads, freshly made croissants and donuts! Prices are also very reasonable. Definitely recommended!

I really love baked goods and came here with my boyfriend once since he was going on about how great it was here. I thought the pastries looked really good so I took a photo to recommend them to my friends and the cashier lady yelled that I wasn’t allowed to take photos. She was glaring at me and seemed generally confrontational. I mean, I’m not sure why but that’s fine. Considering there was no signage stating that fact though, I felt she could have been nicer about it. It put me in a sour mood and I didn’t really feel like sticking around after. As such, I have no pictures to post with my review.

Tasty bread and pastries with good prices! Really like varieties of cakes in the shop. French baguette is not as hard as those sold in the supermarket~

I’ve been going to this bakery for over a month now and even though I shop there once a week. It’s always busy and I like the wide variety of bread selection to choose from, the price is resanable that fits my budget.

Das ist gut! The Dimpflmeier Bakery is an institution in West End Toronto. You can’t go wrong with freshly baked European baked goods. Just try to walk out empty-handed, it’s impossible. They also have seating for a quick bite and coffee. Rather than buying their bread from a supermarket, get it from the source!

I’m not a big pastry guy, but this is hands down the best bakery that I have ever been to. The selection, quality, prices and freshness of their product is top notch. Not too many places where you can get fresh bagels out the oven(not previously frozen like most places) for as cheap as here. Their chocolate Danishes are worth breaking your diet for.

Love visiting this amazing bakery that offers a great verity of freshly baked breads and desserts. What makes it special is their variety of products from organic bread, bagels to traditional German desserts. The prices are also very reasonable. For instance, a peace of cheesecake is $ 1.50 — $ 1.75. Some of my favourites are flaky cheese twists, poppy seed cheese cake and cheese danish. Love that there is a sit down area as well. The only drawback is that they do not offer a breakfast menu as part of their café. They sell delicious bagels for take-out but it would be nice if they offered at least toasted cream cheese bagels for those dining in. Also, you can only pay by cash, which makes it a bit inconvenient. Other than that, this place is awesome and it’s no surprise that they have been in the business for so long. Will definitely be back!

Amazing German Bakery! Bread is always fresh and I can’t get enough of their bagels. I’ve been coming to Dimpflmeier Bakery since I was a kid with my parents back in the 90’s. People are friendly and I love the feeling when you come in to the store. It feels like a very authentic German Bakery. I’m polish but I have been to Germany multiple times but even some bakeries over there have nothing on Dimpflmeier. Keep up the great work. Oh and for those of you coming on Saturday… goodluck…it’s really hard to find parking so make sure to bring your patience with you!

Bread is bread, add sugar and you have pastry. Big deal. Food OK? They don’t take credit cards and it is out in the boon docks. Inconvenient, yes. But the wait people!!! Blood bombers from the Luftwaffe. Dumb. I asked for a taxi and they looked quizzical and very odd. They thought I wanted a taxi for bread. Really? Ya, vol. I have been making the rounds of bakeries in Toronto. Usually pretty good and always polite. Always a lot of old people hanging out eating and drinking coffee — many of whom need taxis. Wakenz upiinz folks.

If you’re looking for a real European bakery experience, this is THE place to go! They even serve the famous German coffee Dallmyer from Munich. The bread selection is vast, from sliced to bagel to croissants, all shapes and sizes of buns :) pastries, muffins, cookies, cakes(what a selection!!!) — I was definitely impressed with the cakes. Want to try some before buying the whole thing? Visit their cafeteria section and try the deliciousness for under $ 2 a piece.

If you’re into European style bread(ie: rye) and AMAZING pastries, you must go here. I discovered it because of a CityTV onsite segment and serendipitously found it was a 5 min drive from my new work place. The website does not do it justice as far as their pastries go. Oh wow, this place is packed shoulder to shoulder every time I’ve been. AMAZING pastries of every kind. You may be familiar with their name when you see rye bread near any grocery store by the deli area. I love knowing their bakery is on site and what you’re getting is made right there! Our sweet favourites: hazelnut cream filled horn, apple tart. Love their pretzel cheese buns and spinach mushroom cheese pastry for a quick little lunch. You need to go to experience it. The huge lines of people is always a telling sign of a great place with good eats. **Note — CASH only, they do have an ATM there May 2015 Update — I still love their stuff, but I am a label reader — sadly, they use hydrogenated oils. Even though I don’t lead as a healthy lifestyle as I would like, hydrogenated oils are like cross and bones for me. So, instead of this being my weekly Friday pick up for weekend treats I will buy less and come less often. If you don’t care about this I still highly recommend this place!

If your looking for a German bakery that has traditional fresh baked goodies this is it! There is also a little café with a friendly staff. We had the Mille-feuille(Napoleon) dessert along with their fresh bean coffee. The dessert was well satisfying, tearing into the flakes with it’s thick icing. At the start of this dessert we tasted the sweet icing, then the multiple flakes along with the cream, then the custard, yum… it was delish! The coffee was strong and flavorful too.

Toronto’s hidden gem. I frequent this bakery when I have a hankering for rye bread. It is the best bakery in Toronto! 34 types of the freshest rye bread you can buy. Bins of rolls and pretzels. Pastries, cake, pie, all at low prices. If you love a strong cup of coffee, this place has it. The reason I am awarding only 3 stars to such a great place is the staff. The staff are NOT friendly, can be considered rude. Don’t expect a hello, thank you, or have a good day, as you arnt getting spoken to… you’ll be lucky if they look at you. Bottom line: Go for the prices, freshness, coffee and amazing selection of breads. Don’t go for the atmosphere.

Best bakery in Toronto. If you are EVER in etobicoke, make sure to stop by here and grab a couple of goodies. My personal favourite are the fruit slices(fruit on top of a tart with amazing custard. They have so many different types of desserts and baked goods. I can’t even begin to list them. REALLY cheap too. The usual cost for a delicious snack is around $ 1.65(what would usually be like $ 5+ at any other bakery, but is obviously second tier to this one). You can get freshly baked bread as they make their own on site — bagels, buns, whatever your heart desires. You can have a seat and enjoy a nice cup of tea/coffee with your baked goodies. They have tons of different cakes for your functions — my boyfriend’s favourite is the german style cheesecake. JUSTGO. Don’t even think about it. It is definitely worth the trip.

What a random discovery in Etobicoke! This is a bread factory and they have all kind of rolls, loafs, and pastries from savoury to sweet. I just came with some friends for a quick bite. I tried the cheese bread stick(flaky and buttery) and cappuccino. Prices are unreal. A nice cappuccino for $ 1.80?!? Compared to $ 3+ at any café(chain or independent) downtown?! There is a cozy little seating area for you to enjoy your treats, because honestly, you can’t wait to go home and eat it: P A little piece of Germany in Toronto!

They’re known for their amazing authentic German rye breads — 34 rye varieties! I bought a loaf of their Holzofen Art Brot which is stoned baked farmers bread made from rye. I never knew rye bread could be so good and their breads are very filling and tasty when lightly toasted with some added hummus or butter.

Just wanted to update my previous review to expose this true HIDDENGEM right near Kipling Stn! Grab: Fresh loaves of bread of various kinds at GREAT prices! I grabbed a probiotic loaf of rye and it was $ 2.10. How could you go wrong with that? I didn’t personally buy any, but it seems like the dinner roll section was quite popular as many people were tongy them AND around dinnertime, staff were still refilling the baskets. Skip: Cakes pieces from showcase, near café. I found they’re hit or miss. The plum cheesecake was alright, not too sweet, but a coffee cake(with coffee bean on top) was totally DRY. Try: Apple Strudel @ $ 2.45. Bring to a potluck, housewarming, get together! Other flavours were $ 3.10. There were other cakes/pies/cheesecakes as well, but I passed this time ’round. Ignore pushy customers, especially the old ones who give you dirty looks and push right by you. I also saw some older German man, complete with an Octoberfest hat, grab a croissant and eat it WHOLE while shopping in the store!!! Tip: CASHONLY. There is a non-branded ATM machine on-site, but I would recommend good ol’ cash.
