401 Mini-Indy Go-Karts

I will NEVER go here ever again. Went with a bunch of friends and was waiting patiently for our turn; even when it was taking over two hours! There was still a group that had arrived before ours, when they put another group that had not waited as long on to the track!
When my friends and I went to ask for refunds they tried to deny us! I’m sure they weren’t looking forward to explain to the owners how they let 400 dollars walk out the door. The cashier even threatened one of my friends, and we were itching for him to throw the first punch.

My date & I went at a perfect time (in our case Friday at 8pm). We hung back during a race so that we could have the whole track to ourselves. It’s a small track, it gets bogged up when there’s a ton of racers and you can’t really experience the speeds that the karts can get to. The guys running the karts were so cool too. they matched up the two karts side by side so we could take off at the same time. They let us go 5 extra laps for free. It’s fun to head back into the main room afterwards to pick up the print outs of your lap times. A good souvenir of a fun time.
I didn’t give it a 5 star because the young girl working the desk had a huge attitude problem. The mini putt course was also one of the worst ones I’ve ever been too. You can still make it fun of course, but it’s just crap.

I got 3 Groupons for 6 people to go for 10 laps go-​Kart and mini golf. One guy in my group couldn’t make it and the girl at the front desk is really nice, she gave us each of us more laps. (She doesn’t look very happy to be there, she had a rough night she told me) Anyway, I find this place quite depressing. First, it’s quite confusing as to where to line up for go-​karts. For the «pro» go karts, you were supposed to go up a «bridge», which is up this skinny stairs and a platform and just wait there. We had no idea where to go and when we ask for direction, the staff seemed annoyed. There was no acknowledgment from the marshalls as to when will we get to drive, because they are too busy with the kids waiting on the other side.
When it’s finally our turn, other people who drove with us were insane. They would crash you from behind on full speed yet, the marshalls did nothing. My friend and I both got injured on our spine and we just stopped playing. Why even put up the «rules» if they were not reinforce? People can seriously get hurt, these gokarts are really fast and it just feels like we got into multiple accidents.
I didn’t enjoy the gokart at all. Moving onto the minigolf. The glow-​in-​the-​dark racecar theme is well made, but the course itself is very boring. There is no moving mechanical parts or anything makes it unique. All the holes were just hole, obstacle (barrel) then a small tunnel under barrel. It’s technically all the same thing. It’s been the most boring mini-​golf I’ve ever been to.
For the Groupon price, I would think it’s okay. Definitely not going back for full price.

It’s my first time driving a go-​kart by myself. Of course, I’ve been in one when I was younger, but I always sat in the passengers seat because I was too short to reach the pedals.
We bought a Groupon and came when it wasn’t too busy. This groupon gave us 10 laps with the racecar and 18 holes of miniput. The staff didn’t look very pleased — especially the front reception.
Anyways, we started out at the racecar track, which you have to climb up the stairs to get your hairnets and helmet — I swear there’s not a lot of sizes in helmets, because I felt like I grabbed the smallest helmet and it was way too big on me. We were set up with a gokart fairly quickly and the first round, I was trying to drive it like a normal car, slowing down on the turns. It turned out that you didn’t need to slow down on the turns, but you can speed through the whole track, which made it a little boring after the first two rounds around.
Mini putt was pretty standard, it was glow in the dark, we enjoyed ourselves. For the price of the Groupon, I thought it wasn’t bad, the only thing is that the location is super far away from where we are.

I went to this place with a Groupon and it was alright. The go-​karts are real fast but the track is a bit on the small side. My helmet was huge and sometimes it would shift over when I turned which made it block my view of the track. I found it just a bit strange that the workers didn’t ensure the helmets were fastened properly before letting us start. (They didn’t look at our helmets at all.)The mini-​golf was cool though, since it’s glow-​in-​the-​dark.

Got my go-​kart fix, but at the end of the day, this is indoors and you’re inhaling a crap load of pollutants in here.
Wait times can be annoyingly significant.

First time there with my boyfriend and we both had a great time. The staff were very nice and helpful and even suggested to us to buy a Groupon voucher to get a better deal and we bought the voucher per their suggestions. The staff to even make it easier for us, used the code without asking for printed copy of voucher.

Its a Great outing event for all ages specially during school break.
Couple of things to have in mind. the place felt very humid and also smelled like oil/​gasoline. So you must be prepared for these when you walk in.
Overall good experience.
Would I go back again? Definitely!

I’ve been here a few times, the go-​karts are in decent shape and can really go! Other places I’ve been have been disappointing but my friends and I had a GREAT time racing each other … I walked out VERY inspired to give GTA Exotics track day a go … guess what’s next on my list: p LOL

I had a great time here. You need to know what you’re getting into. If:
— you’re a delicate flower, OR
— your idea of excitement is lawn bowling, OR
— you expect to be warmly greeted/​ushered in by an attendant, OR
— you bought a groupon and would never consider going otherwise:
… chances are you will not like it. But for the rest of us, you’re in for a treat.
Yes, it smells (it’s a bunch of gas-​fueled cars in an enclosed space). Yes, the people there are rough around the edges. But you’re at a go-​kart track, not at the art gallery!
The price seems reasonable. After 20 laps, I was completely worn out (in a good way!). The cars are really fast, and it’s tricky riding the corners at higher speeds.
Yeah, outdoor tracks are bigger, but this was a real blast. And it’s indoors, so you’re sheltered from the elements. Looking forward to going again next week for my friend’s birthday.

Was quite an interesting experience to say. Walked into a small indoor track, a bunch of different gokarts in different areas. Two of the workers were sitting in the gokarts sleeping and one was busy on their phone. If you know the feeling of a humid garage, that’s exactly how I felt.
The girl inside the registration area wasn’t very delightful either, she was clearly not wanting to be at work, was also on her phone.
After we got the paperwork taken care of we went out to gokart first. The helmets we had to wear sucked. really bad. they were only available in one size. Large. I have a small head so it wasn’t very comfortable on me. Glad they provided hairnets for us.
The actual gokarts are not maintained very well and are very dated. Ie: ripped up, dented, damaged etc. So I tried to choose the least damaged of them all. The track itself was too small and had too many sharp turns too quickly so it felt like I was always turning. The steering wheel cut my thumb cuz it was just metal. My helmet started to shift and block my view (which was very dangerous and made it hard to see). The drivers were so rough not that I expected anything less. But really? It’s juvenile. There is no winner.
We went glow in the dark mini golfing after because it was part of our groupon deal. 18 holes. Nothing too exciting. But was all good fun after and a great cool down from gokarting.

My boyfriend and I had a great time on the track we went in the early afternoon and there was one couple there with us and unfortunately when we went into do the mini putt this couple was so immature and obnoxious and they kept smacking the golf balls everywhere and there was no one to supervise the mini putt and the mini putt course was all decrepit and garbage it was just awful it was really worn down and it needed a lot of repairs.

Never in a million years did I plan on going here but since there was a groupon, why not. The $ 29 groupon got us 10 laps of go-​karting and 18 holes of mini golf.
The place resembles an auto repair shop and is really grimy. While we waited in a slow moving line my feet literally stuck to the floor because it was so nasty and sticky. Do they not clean the floors? There was only one employee processing transactions which is not enough on a busy Saturday evening.
We waited for at least an hour just to ride the go-​karts! Which I think is ridiculous. When it was actually our turn we all had lots of fun driving them. However, it was super cold since there is no heat in the track/​garage area. Must really suck in the winter time then: S. Afterwards, we played the 18 holes of mini golf. It wasn’t as cold as the track area but cold. The mini golf was ok – each course was pretty small and short.
Overall, I would never pay full price to go here. However, it was an ok experience with the groupon.

So they have two kinds of cars pro which are really fast or the regular that dont go as fast and are more for kids/​beginners. The prices are not cheap at $ 20 for 15 laps or $ 25 for 20 laps (on the pro cars) and if you’re a first timer they also force you to pay a $ 5 membership fee which came up to a total of $ 33 which lasted maybe 5 mins on the track. Don’t get me wrong I had a lot of fun, I must say it was an exhilarating experience I just wish that for $ 33 dollars it would have lasted longer I can get a ride all day pass at the EX for that price and that keeps me entertained all day.
Oh they also have mini glow in the dark golf if you like that sort of thing.

This place was alright. Its located in an old warehouse/​factory in north Etobicoke. Kinda sketchy looking at first glance. The cars and track have also seen better days. Some cars would not start, they all went different speeds and were pretty beat up. The two guys working on the track were rude and miserable, until they came over and tried to sell us extra laps for cash, then they were your buddy lol. The track it self was pretty cool, lots of tight corners, and the car I did end up getting was pretty fast. It was a bit pricey at around $ 30 for like 20 laps. Overall it was an alright place, might shop around next time we are looking for a go cart place.

Myself, and 15 friends went here the other night for a friends birthday. We called in advance to book a reservation, but they said «no reservations».
However, when we got there … they were letting kids groups «with reservations» go before us.
That being said, we had to wait almost 2 HOURS to get on the track.
*NOTE* — There is NO HEAT in the track warehouse … so if you’re planning on going in the winter, bring a jacket, hats and gloves. Our group had all of that and we were still FREEZING. We saw other drivers pulling over to try and warm up their hands here and there too. Also, this place doesn’t have a system to notify you when it is your turn to race. You have to go out to the track and wait in line. We were frozen before we even got on the track.
The staff are HORRIBLE!
They don’t communicate with you, so you never know what to do or where to go. They were also rude when I asked why we had been waiting 2 hours, by giving us a ton of attitude. I feel like the entire place is run by teenagers who hate their jobs.
The cars kept stalling or running out of gas. Some were fast and some were slow. This was annoying … and one of our friends missed out on about 4 laps because he had to keep switching cars to find one that worked properly. They never let him make up his laps either.
This place is way overpriced. $ 30 some-​odd dollars for 15 MINUTES of racing.
Also, they make you buy a «membership card» for an additional $ 5.00 too. I told the girl at the cash that I didn’t want a membership as this would be my one and only time there… and she said «Doesn’t matter. Everyone has to pay the membership card fee». Awesome.
I would never go to this place again.

I thought that I would post a copy of the email that I sent to 401 Mini Indy today after my experience there this weekend:
To Whom It May Concern:
Yesterday afternoon my boyfriend, sister and I came to 401 Indy and were looking forward to a great time. As my boyfriend loves go-​carting and has built several himself, he was looking forward to the experience. I had recommended 401 Indy as I had come here once before as a teenager and remember loving the track and the speed of the go-​carts.
A birthday party had just cleared the track and it was clear but for the three of us. That’s when your employees decided that they were going to take a ride as well.
Looking ahead at the cart in-​front of me, I read the label «no bumping». May I ask then, why your employees continually, for 20 laps, rammed their carts into both my sister’s and mine? No speed seemed to satisfy them. I would press the pedal to the floor in order to get out of their way and speed up but they would cut the corner and slam me into the wall. I would slow down to allow them to pass but then they would stay on me, until wildly cutting in front and hitting the side of my car.
My sister has suffered a sore wrist and several bruises on her back from the continuous impact of your employees and I have a sore neck and arm. Yes, waivers were signed, but I doubt that these included clauses about the completely irresponsible and negligent employees that you have working for you. These children who operate the go-​karts in your establishment have no respect for your guests and no concern for their well-​being. Their reckless attitude and aggressiveness on the track made for a stressful and fearful experience. Are they not supposed to enforce the rules and ensure the safety of the guest? Instead, this group of boys seemed to take pride in their actions and saw it as a hilarious practical joke.

«I wanted to inform all future potential customers of the policies that are posted at the 401 Mini Indy Go Kart located at 34 Stoffel Drive, and the fact that they are NOT enforced — this is with respect to the zero tolerance for bumping policy. I signed up to participate in a 20 lap race in the new faster go karts. There were others on the track who I did not know, and was bumped at extremely high speeds not only from behind, but also from the side (t-​boned). I was cut off at a high speed, at which point the go kart swerved sideways, and I was t-​boned twice. I received a huge bruise on my side, and neck pain. My brain also felt like it received a good jostling. The track staff did nothing to stop the drivers who t-​boned me, and were also not willing to compensate me (e.g provide a refund). Just warning folks out there to be careful.»
I have raced many go-​karts on many different tracks and therefore I understand that this kind of driving comes with the territory, but to be seeing this behavior from employees, on an extremely tight indoor track, was a first and I am sure a last as I have no plans to return unless I am compensated for the appalling experience that I encountered.
I did not pay $ 67.00 for myself and my boyfriend, and my sister did not pay $ 33.00 to have a stressful time at the hands of your very own employees. This email would not be written if it were other paying customers on the track who took part in this type of behaviour — these were your own employees taking advantage of a near empty track and blatantly disregarding the rules that are so clearly stated, rules that they should be enforcing. Based on the reviews that I have read, your employees seem to have no regard for the rules whether they are on or off of the track.
Though I do not know your policies and procedures regarding employees actions, I can surely understand the employees being allowed to use the track when it is not in use by paying guests. At those times, they should feel free to race as they see fit. But when customers have paid an obscene amount of money for a very limited time on the track, the employees should take a step back; focus on their job and the safety of their guests.
As stated in a previous «Deal Find» by your company, «In our esteemed opinion, there are only two sorts of drivers in this world: the sort that are so reckless that the driving instructor who passed them should be found and given a lobotomy, and the sort who just down right get under your skin. What’s worse, is that most of the time these sorts of people are your friends».
Unfortunately, these people were not my friends, but your incompetent, irresponsible and immature employees do fall under both of these categories.

Located in North Etobicoke, this Mini-​Indy track is for amateurs looking for some go-​cart fun. Unfortunately, in most other aspects, this place would score below average.
Track: It is inside a small warehouse so their are not many straightaways. On the other hand, tonnes of tight turns and the staff lets things get a little aggressive in there so it makes it pretty fun when you’re with some friends. Also, the tar on the corners that give you grip is all worn out, causing you to spin out easily.
Staff: Seem like they hate their jobs, but once you’re racing, it doesn’t really matter.
Carts: Perform well for the track, but if you’re looking for power, the cars aren’t great.
