Yellow Cab

I took a cab number 567 from one side of the city to the other racking up a $ 46 bill. The driver insisted I pay cash when I agued the fact that they are all suppose to have debit and that is all I have he continued to argue that I need to pay cash and I tell him how this is ridiculous, after 5 minutes of back and forth he finally brings out the debit machine and as I’m paying (I also tipped him) I snap a pic of his cab number to bring this to the dispatches attention. At this point the driver asks why I took a pic and starts yelling that they won’t do s*** I get out of his cab and say have a nice night he rolls down his window and continues to swear and yell at me from the car as I’m entering the house, I say I’m going to call the cops I paid you get lost, he continues to yell that I should do it they won’t do anything and yelling and swearing continues until i get inside my house. I am on the phone with dispatch and he drives by again as I watch through my front window. This behavior is potentially dangerous and very intimidating, I should feel safe when I pay to use a service. I hope this is delt with appropriately and I will no longer use this cab service.

So I had a horrible experience with a different local cab company and have switched to yellow cab. They have for the most part been on time and have always had a working debit too! I have had issues during the first snow fall with not being able to get a cab within a reasonable amount of time. Or a dramatic change of weather but besides that my experiences have been good.

I don’t take cabs at all except for to drunk to drive home, but I’m writing this because my step daughter left her wallet with like $ 200 cash all her credit cards and I. D in there and it was a really nice coach wallet too and the cab driver returned it right too our house with everything In it! Awesome don’t really expect this I’m more of a «realist» when it comes to random people but again thx yellow cab #330! Awesome guy! I’ll definitely remember to use you guys from now on!

This cab company has horrible service which is unfortunate considering it is one of the bigger taxi companies in the city.
Regularly, I have had issues when booking a cab. I have noticed a huge difference when calling for myself or male customers (I work in a bar). Firstly, I will be quoted a time frame and the cab’s will not show up. Not only is this annoying, it is bad service. Customers usually wait outside when I call a cab for them and in the winter months this can be an issue when no one shows up and the temperatures are dangerously low. Also, I have noticed that when I call and leave a female name, the cab will most often show up almost immediately, where as if I am calling for a male customer, there is a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance that they will show up.
Other than the obvious, the reason this is creepy is because every single time I have taken a yellow cab in this city, I have been harassed and talked to in sexually inappropriate ways by the driver. I am not timid by any means, but I have routinely felt very uncomfortable with yellow cab drivers. Even the odd time I have been accompanied by my fiancé or other friends, drivers have made inappropriate remarks. It is gross, unprofessional and as a female who sometimes has to take a cab by herself, makes me worry about my safety. There have been times I have been badgered for my number, asked if I had a boyfriend, or had the doors locked because he wanted a bigger tip. I work in the service industry and tip over 20% … I hate that the drivers in this city feel like they can bully customers and act inappropriately. I have had many girlfriends share their Yellow Cab horror stories with me as well, ranging from the driver taken an «alternate» or longer routes and/​or not unlocking the doors right away when reaching the destinations. even inappropriate GROPING. Seriously. WTH???
This behavior wouldn’t be acceptable or tolerated in any other industry, but these drivers routinely get away with garbage like this.
Working in the bar, I have routinely witnessed drivers refuse service to a group of males, but prey on drunk females. Again, GROSS.
Yellow Cab has recently launched their IPhone and Android App. It sucks. Not only does it NOT work all the time but there are alot of glitches. First of all, I have booked several cabs using this app, all which have cancelled on me. Once you book your taxi, the app will tell you when a driver has accepted your fare. You can also track how far your cab is from you on a real time map which will show you your cabs proximity to you. A couple weeks ago when it was really cold, I had to rebook my cab FIVE times. The app would show me that a cab had accepted my fare, I was tracking the cars distance from me, and everytime they got within a 2 km radius, I would receive an alert saying «CANCELLED». This was extremely frustrating because I needed to be somewhere at a specific time and kept getting cabs cancel on me. When I called Yellow Cab dispatch and explained the situation, the dispatcher refused to rebook me another cab because it still showed in their system as «booked». On the flip side, there have also been times where I have booked a cab using their app and have 4 cabs show up at my door, all arguing over who got there first and who should get the fare.
I should also add that HOURS later, I receive angry calls from the cab drivers personal cell phones and not the usual automated phone call you receive when your cab arrives. who call repeatedly, text and leave voicemails. …
Yellow Cab is horrible, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. If you need a cab, call one of the smaller taxi companies in the city like ²⁴⁄₇ or Capital.

It’s really touch and go with this cab company! Some days I would give them no stars other days I’d like to give them 5 stars. So I’m going to meet in the middle with 3!
What I like about this company is their smart phone app. While many have complained about it, I’ve never personally had an issue with it. My taxi always comes quickly and it’s nice to not have to wait on the phone, and have the option to book our cab in advance.
My largest complaint with yellow cabs is the lack of knowledge the drivers have. If you’re providing the service of getting me from one location to another, it’s your responsibility to know how to get there! I should not have to use my GPS on my phone to get us there.
Another complaint I have is the extra $ 3 service charged I’m charged on weekend nights! While I understand it’s an added fee to supplement the bar scene. But when I’m leaving work at 10pm to go home, I don’t feel it’s fair to me. Sure I can use other means of transportation, however it’s a long bus ride and I’m lazy some nights! Lol… This service charge should be used after midnight when picking up in the bar district.
For the most part I find drivers to be friendly enough. Usually talking on their phone, but that doesn’t bother me as I’m usually preoccupied with my phone!

Make sure you know exactly where you are going, I have used this cab service three times now and every time the cabbie purposely drives in a circle or in the wrong direction/​a longer route for a while to rack the meter up. The last time I used this service I made a comment about how he was going in the opposite direction of my destination, he took a whole $ 2 off my cab fair (which I’m sure he had been driving a lot more than $ 2 worth in the wrong direction).
Never waited more than 5 – 10 minutes for this cab service but they definitely like to take advantage of their customers and purposely try to make them pay more than they should.

Your ONLINE Booking Tool does NOT Work.
I have tried to use it two separate times in the last 6 months, and it gives me a INVALID ADDRESS Error, to which is provided by Your system.
Co-​Op Taxi’s Online Booking Tool Works, and You have lost my Business Twice now because of Your Online booking tool NOT working, therefore wasting my time as a result!

I vowed never to give these guys my hard earned dollars again but when my boyfriend took a tumble out of a city bus at the mall and sprained his ankle we needed a ride home and we needed it fast. I saw one of these guys rolling through the Londonderry parking lot and quickly dialed the number only to have my call answered by the cities most unqualified taxi dispatcher.
I let him know we were at the lower 66 street east entrance and he informed me he could not find it on his list of destinations and proceeded to rattle off the location of every other entrance except the one I was at. He asked me twice if we would mind walking to one of the destinations he had listed even though I informed him my boyfriend had a sprained ankle and needed to minimize his walking. I gave him the number of the cab that drove past and asked if he could radio and ask the driver of that cab to come back if he didn’t have another fare or to at least give the dispatcher some directions he could understand as I was not getting through to him and he told me no.
Finally I just had enough and told him I would find another cab and he really didn’t seem to care that much or try to get me to change my mind. What kind of company is so reliant on a list of pre determined trip destinations? Isn’t a big part of working in that industry being able to find your way around even if you haven’t been to every destination prior? Just more terrible customer service from a terrible cab company.

I worked nights and part of my job is driving from site to site around Jasper Ave. This company is horrendous for illegal driving! They think no one is watching but I’ve seen some of the stupidest stunts pulled by Yellow Cab drivers and I’ve heard countless car horns being honked at them because of it, from bus drivers too. They’ll pull u-​turns where ever the can. They run red lights, after they’ve stopped, and it’s mainly on 102^nd ave where there isn’t much traffic. I’ve seen it a dozen times. The driver stops at the red, looks both ways, and the goes for it. They follow the «speed up to yellow light» technique and hardly stop for pedestrians crossing the road. I understand they’re on a clock and need money but it’s actually almost funny watching these drivers pull this crap.
I’m not giving it a ¹⁄₅ mainly because there has to be at least a couple drivers out there that care for passenger safety.

Horrible company. I made sure to call a couple of hours in advance to book a taxi for a certain time. It was a Wednesday, not New Years or a holiday. Just a weekday night. They were over 10 minutes late and when the taxi did show up, the driver failed to tell us that his credit and debit machine was down. We arrive just in time because he was late to begin with and then he tells us that it’s not working so he starts to drive around downtown searching for macs so we can get cash for him! Long story short, they are unreliable and undependable.

Just used their mobile app to get a cab after co-​op cab decided not to show up for my pre-​scheduled pick-​up. They were fantastic, took less than 5 min for them to arrive.

We were going to a party with unlimited alcohol and wanted to enjoy it so we took a cab. It was a Saturday during the holidays so I called an hour and half in advance. The dispatch person must have been new as I heard another voice beside him telling him what to say. The cab arrived right on time and we received a call to inform us he arrived.
The seating in the back seemed a little worn as this cab had probably been in use for years. It was clean but a little cramp in the seat behind the driver. He didn’t talk much or use his cellphone at all. He didn’t take any detours along the way so we arrived at our destination in good time. I asked about calling for a cab to go home and he said we should be good as long as it was before 11.
Calling for the return cab, I asked if it arrive in half an hour. The dispatch said she couldn’t guarantee that but the wait time in the area was about that time frame. I asked if the driver could call upon arrival but she said it was dependant if they had a cell. About 10 minutes later, I received 2 missed calls on my cell. I went out and found the cab waiting for us. We waited a few minutes for the others to arrive and the driver moved to the other door. This cab seemed more comfortable and not as worn.
We dropped off a friend before coming home. It was the holidays and we gave him a good tip and it was great to see a smile on his face! For a cold night and roads not so great, I’m glad we arrived home in good time and safe. Would book Yellow Cab again if needed.

Unreliable. Poor customer service. Don’t use their online booking.

Yellow cab has been great. This is the only cab company I use. The drivers are always on time and I feel safe. It may be a bit pricey but it’s worth every penny.

Looking at reviews for cab companies in other cities makes me thankful for my recent experiences with Yellow Cab. They’ve been there for me when I’ve needed them in recent months. Like all other cab companies, it’s going to be impossible to phone for one after Midnight on a weekend, but at all other times, you can give them a call and a cab will arrive at your location within 15 minutes. A Yellow Cab has never failed to show up when I’ve called. And all drivers will happily accept credit cards, though I wish they would accept interac, the way the Co-​op cabs do.

I took a yellow cab home from a bar about a week ago. Mini-​van very young nice gentleman. Maybe mid-30’s. He picked me and a friend up from the druid downtown… I did drive my car — but had 2 – 3 drinks & I did not want to chance it.
Picked us up from the druid downtown, friend & i wanted to get mcdonalds — drove down to the oliver square mcdonalds. The drive thru line was SOOO LONG, we he asked us if we could go in. He would wait for us if we left him $$ and property. So being that he was sooo friendly & personable we gave him 40 $ & left my purse in the cab (I know bad idea on my part — but I took out my wallet & cell phone). And toooo our surprise once we ordered our food brought it back out… he was gone.
HE STOLE MY PURSE & $ 40 to drive maybe 5 minutes TOPS!
Next day, i get a call from wayyyy out on the North end of town — lady found my purse ditched between her car and her husbands (as my epi pen has my contact info on it) he ditched my purse & minus my digital camera. SLEEZE BALL!!!
DONT TAKE YELLOW CAB!!!
When I spoke with the dispatchers about this — they told me it was my fault he took my purse and to stop asking about him OH and its also my fault I didn’t get his name or cab # & to not call them again.
So they didn’t help me either recover my things OR to give me the contact info to speak with this driver myself.

I can only agree with the rest of the reviewers on this one. Yellow Cab hasn’t failed me for over a decade. I mostly use them when I have to be at the airport extremely early (like 5am) and don’t feel like bothering my family to drive me there.
When they say they’ll be there in 15mins, they mean it. You can even schedule a time for them to come pick you up.
Easily the best cab company in E-​town.

Yellow cab is a pretty good cab company in Edmonton. I find that the drivers are always friendly, the cabs are usually clean and the wait times are pretty decent.
Of course, there are always times when it is harder to get a cab, like late at night after the bars close. In that case you’re better off just grabbing a cab along the side of the street.
The only thing that bothers me about yellow cab (and this probably goes for all cab companies) is that the drivers talk on their cell phones while driving. I don’t think this is good service, nor is it safe, which is why it bothers me so much.

One of the better choices if you need a ride. They are the most popular cab company in the city and they run things smoothly. Unlike other companies, yellow cab is honest about their wait times and usually only take around 10 minutes during non peak times.
The cab drivers are friendly and don’t really bother with small talk. I think most people enjoy when they don’t. Obviously it isn’t cheap but if that was your concern you probably wouldn’t be taking a cab anyways. They do take credit card as well as cash.

I had the unfortunate mishap of being stuck in the middle of nowhere once, after an unsuccessful visit to the Purolator office in town, and really just wanted to be home asap. There was a bus route, but the bus came every hour, and I refused to wait around that long, especially when I was all alone.
So I called Yellow Cab, and they arrived promptly in about 10 minutes. The cab driver didn’t see me and drove past me at first; he then called me (since they had my number) and turned around for me. He was friendly enough, but didn’t make any attempt of small-​talk, which was fine with me.
It ended up costing me $ 40 to get across town and get home, but I suppose that’s a normal rate for that distance with cabs. I was just glad to be home! Yellow Cab takes credit cards, if you don’t have any cash on hand.
