Excellent food. Main courses, deserts etc… Drinks are crafted with care. If you can make abstraction of the heritage manginas that appear to exclusively run this place and could be an eye irritant the place is pretty neat. But all jokes apart, quality of the food wise it is in the top 3 in Edmonton. Cannot think of anything bad to say.

Cocktails are interesting and amazing! Loved trying some new things. Was not disappointed. Ordered the charcuterie plate and was disappointed. Meet was lame. Average flavours and this kinda thing does not classify as high quality. Basically average salami & Baloney, WTF. And it was $ 27. Had another few dishes and they were good. Brussels sprouts were great. Oh well, cocktails were killer so go for the drinks.

Great drinks, and great food. We started out with a variety of gin martinis (recommended by the bartender) and for dinner had the steak. It was cooked perfectly and very tasty. It will be our new go to spot when we visit Edmonton on business.

Ernie says the reefer will fit. It doesn’t so I have to park in an alley, run the ice down this narrow alley. I deliver it and they were nice about not making me take the ice up or down flights of stairs. Owner said he tried the food and it was excellent. I am just happy with no stairs and the fact they are supporting Columbia Ice the local ice company. Of course I am the dumbass who put gas in a Diesel engine, couldn’t start the reefer on the way out, blocking traffic, finally made it work with the help of Peter my mechanic at PAG Automotive. It was only 5000.00 for a new fuel pump.

Nice find while visiting town. My wife and myself happened to be staying at the hotel across the street, and craving some dinner, this place naturally caught our eye. Its convenient location across the hotel, and right in the core of downtown Edmonton definitely influenced our decision to dine here.
As we walked inside, the first impression was the hipster atmosphere inside. It is a medium-​sized venue, but the dim lighting and small size of the tables around provide a nice touch of intimacy to the experience.
We shared three different dishes: Aquavite char and toast, Brassica salad, and the barley risotto. All three were very good, there was a lot of creativity in the dishes and the combination of flavours in each dish resulted in very enjoyable products. I personally enjoyed the Brassica salad the best, although the Aquavite char and toast was a very second close. The three dishes proved to be enough to share among two people.
We also gave tried a couple of their cocktails. They were very interesting combinations. Mine was a bit sour and the only con I would give to it is that the glass in which it was served to me was sticky. However I would not demerit the overall drink because of that. My wife notably enjoyed her drink, until the last drop.
Our bill for two people, including two cocktails, came to about $ 70. I found that to be pretty reasonable, especially given the good quality of food and drinks, and the attentive service we received through the night.
We would definitely consider visiting again next time we are in Edmonton.

Finally had a chance to check this place out with my wife.
First impression upon entering and being greated by a young, bearded gentleman wearing a touque… casual! Excellent! I won’t be asked to remove my ball cap here!
Second impression as we were lead to out table… cramped.
The tables along the wall are, at best, 2′ appart. Certainly not a romantic or private place. Quite the opposite infact. Quite loud. As the waitress manuevered between these seats, it felt, and looked as though she was preparing to sit on our table as she served the people next us. Thankfully she was very pleasant and the service was indeed fantastic!

We decided to make the most of our opportunity here and shared four offerings.
1^st up was a delicious Steak tar tar, and House Meatballs. Both were very good.
Next we had Barley Rissoto, and Drumsticks. Again, excellent!
In terms of value, we were very pleased. We took it easy in the drink department. I only had water while my wife enjoyed an interesting Ginger soda concoction.
The bill was a easy-​to-​stomach ~$ 65 before tip which we felt was very fair for such well delivered dishes.
Long story short…
I would certainly recommend Woodwork.
Just don’t expect any amount of intimacy or privacy! If romance is on the menu… this is not the spot!

I went here on a Monday night. Apparently they are busy every night so get in early or book your reso online!
They have some unquie soda on their menu. I got a grapefruit/​lavender and my friend had ginger. The flavours were deep but the drinks didn’t have that gross punch that a lot of artificial sweeteners have.
I went with a friend and shared a few dishes. We started with the Brussel sprout and meatballs. The Brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly, charred with a bit of light seasoning mixed with apples. The meatballs were quite rich and flavourful with thyme and a bit of Rosemary (You get three large meatballs). Lastly we shared their pork medallion entrée. It came with sauerkraut and mashed sweet potatoe. The sweet potatoe was amazing! So flavourful.
The food and service was great. The menu definitely reminded me of a thanksgiving spread but I will definitely be back to try more!

Tarim and I came here for NYE drinks and dinner. I was starved having just driven over seven hours to come see him. So I opted for a «larger plate» of Pork Medallion which was near $ 30. Each component of the dish (potato purée, pork, sauerkraut) were beautifully conceived and well-​executed. My only qualm being the portion sizes. I had expected a «larger plate» to fill me up. And yet, I still had to order the meatballs (again, delicious — albeit dry) and sticky toffee pudding (divine) in order to feel satisfied.
I also really enjoyed all our cocktails: purple fizz, old fashioned, and whiskey sour. And was pleasantly surprised that the server encouraged us to order off-​menu if we wanted a drink that wasn’t listed.
The service was lovely (Kristin), atmosphere is perfect, and menu is well thought-​out. I just wish their portions were bigger given price point.

What a great place! Definitely worth it to stop in. With a great selection for any pallet it hit the spot for our late night snack.
We popped in and were seated right away, the atmosphere was really good. We had enough space and it was quiet enough to have a conversation and not always shout across our table. Everyone we came with highly enjoyed the wings! Huge in size for wings and the sauce was amazing!
The server was really good too! Such a nice personality and she gave us enough heads up before the kitchen closed for the night so we could get out order in.

I drifted in here after an unexpectedly long night at the office. This place is centrally located and open late.
Their late night menu is limited to 3 items. I had the charcuterie board, at $ 25 it’s quite reasonably priced. The product was of good quality and well presented.
The purple city fizz is an amazing cocktail, especially for some like me who likes gin.
I would say that the bar is the highlight of this bistro.
It’s a great place to meet up with friends after work.

I went to Woodwork a couple of days ago before going to a show at the Citadel. At first glance, the décor is rustic and industrial. I loved the openness of the bar and all the neat light fixtures. It also smells wonderful in the restaurant– a BBQ/​campfire scent.
Our server Kelsey was amazing. She was very attentive and helped make drink suggestions based on individual preferences. I ended up with a wonderful drink called a Paper Plane.
We started with the meatballs, which were delicious! Our plates varied: dill sausage, a pork dish and steak frites. We had to sample everyone’s food. Everything was delicious. And we all had sticky toffee pudding for dessert, which tasted amazing!
There were a few disappointments I had with this place. The price of the cocktails-​I found $ 13 a bit pricy for a small drink, even though it was delicious. The steak frites– while it was good, I only had a few small slices of steak on my plate and about half the plate was extremely salty fries. I like salt, but it was too much salt for me. I would have preferred more meat for $ 28.
I think next time I would just have the meatballs, one Paper Plane and the sticky toffee pudding.

Thanks again for a great pre-​show dinner! Had the flank steak and Emily had the Carmelites brussel sprouts — holy moly they were fantastic!
Of course, the service from Kelsey was fabulous as was the wine — and although the desserts here haven’t changed for a while I’m ABSOLUTELY ok w that — the peanut butter chocolate raspberry thang is absolutely amazing (and better win a few rewards for the designer! :)

I. Love. Woodwork.
Get a reservation for dinner, especially on the weekends, but sometimes you can walk in for dessert or drinks later on.
The best thing on the menu is everything. The only thing I’ve ever had there that I didn’t love was the potato chips that come with the steak tartare. I still dream about the pork shoulder I had on my first visit here. The brassica salad is everything a salad should be, and is actually delicious, satisfying, and interesting (unlike so many other salads). But, really, probably don’t come here for salads.
The drinks are amazing too. The cocktail menu changes a lot, but the servers are really great for recommendations. Try something new! (And no, the egg while won’t hurt you.)
Make sure you take a peek into the kitchen on your way to the bathroom.

We went into Woodwork at the end of the evening for a couple of drinks. The setting was quite nice. It seemed a bit pretentious at first but then later on our server made us feel quite at home. She was friendly and always checking up on us. The smell of burning wood fills the air so if you don’t like the smell of campfires then you may not want to go inside.

Decided to pop in and meet up with some friends one Friday evening. I was the first to arrive, and the place was packed to the gills! Not an empty seat in the house.
I asked the hostess if there would happen to be an available table… For six of us! Knowing it was a far cry, I tried anyhow! She said she wasn’t sure, that there likely wasn’t an available table until 10:45pm. This was a 45 min wait… Not terribly bad for a busy Friday night!
Meanwhile I was texting with a friend to get their ETA, when the hostess came up to us saying she had a table for us. But it was for only 4 people. Good enough seeing as our other friends were running late. Luckily the table next to us was just about finished and we were able to make the table big enough for all of us! Win!
Kudos to the hostess for making this happen!
Fast forward a bit.
This place is well known for their delicious crafted cocktails! Their menu offers about a dozen, but don’t hesitate to ask for something different. The lovely bartender concocted an amazing «spirit forward» bevy for me and it was quite possibly the most delicious drink I’ve ever had!
The food here is definitely different from most restaurants. Priding themselves with local ingredients you won’t find a humungous menu with lots to choose from. A small menu featuring a few small plates, a few entrees and a few desserts. I had the brisket and chose to have fries instead of grits (no offence, I’m just not a fan of grits). The brisket was DEADLY!!! I will likely have it again if it’s on the menu during my next visit.
Service here is top notch! If you’re in a hurry I wouldn’t suggest visiting on a busy night as the cocktails can take a little while. They are all hand crafted with attention to detail and well worth the wait.
I will most certainly be back!

Wow! What wonderful cocktails! Their house sour was simply amazing (13 $). The fire during the make definitely added entertainment, but the drink itself was awesome. Much creativity here! I also had a Hot Toddy which was made with a pecan based syrup and garnished with a blow torch burned cinnamon stick which was a great winter drink.
We sat at the bar for this one and was glad that we did! Very entertaining bartenders and characters. A nice people watching place.
We started with the meatballs (13 $). They were delicious with a tomato sauce that you want to scoop every bit of. Our food order was the Cornish Hen and Risotto at 21 $ and the Dill Sausage with a wonderful horseradish dip at 22 $. Both were awesome!
We enjoyed everything here from the large liquor display to the last sip of the Hot Toddy. I think I have a new Favourite place for cocktails now.

I’ve been dying to come to Woodwork since I saw their sign go up. I am pretty passionate about the downtown revitalization scene, so it was awesome to have a new local restaurant to eat out at.
We started with the charcuterie board, and I had a gin martini. Served with a lemon twist, it was the best martini I have had in Edmonton — no lies here! The board had a nice mix of meats and two varieties of cheese. I would recommend they add more pickles or spreads, but otherwise a great tasting plate.
For entrees, I had the pork shoulder. I’m not a huge fan of pork, but it sounded really good. I was impressed with the yellow split peas it was served on top of; an interesting twist on ham and pea soup, perhaps? The shoulder was tender and flavour full, but next time I’ll try the rainbow trout or beef tenderloin!
Service was awesome, drinks are expertly mixed, and the atmosphere was relaxing and homey — can’t wait to be back!

Woodwork is very much of its time. It’s a hip, bustling spot, busy and loud, with great vibes. And yes, the cocktails live up to the hype! I’m drooling thinking about their Old Fashioned.
The staff here are quite friendly, and sitting at the bar is interesting because you can watch true virtuosos of the bar tending field conjure up their delicious potions.
The food I’ve had here is delicious. Their take on fries was delicious, and although I always thought steak tartare would be the last thing I’d ever order, it exceeded my expectations — I might even try it again! The meatballs served with pine nuts and goat cheese and tomato sauce were divine, but the real star here is the sticky toffee pudding. MY GOD. Warm, drenched in salted caramel and served with a quenelle of whipped cream, this dessert made me want to propose to it and love it faithfully for all my years.
Prepare to wait for a seat (depending on the day), but you can fortunately bank on delicious drinks and food in a beautiful space served by friendly waitstaff.

Great little spot for a late night drink! I love the ambience and décor. They also according to my fiancé make a really fantastic old fashioned.
