United Cycle Source For Sports

Huge store and wide selection of sporting goods, however not too in depth in any one category (outside of hockey or bikes). Shoe and apparel selections could be improved.

These guys are awesome! They gave me a great deal on a Juliana Joplin Terco bike and shipped it all the way to California for me! United Cycle’s customer service is superb, and their online store manager Jon was so helpful and responsive through the purchasing and shipping process. My bike arrived in perfect condition a week after my order was processed, and after an hour of setup it met its first trail. I would definitely buy from United cycle again!

For general sports goods, they have a lot of variety and friendly staff. But maybe get your board done at a board or ski shop. Sometimes the staff does not have specialized knowledgeable for specific tasks.
I got my snowboard waxed and fitted here at the end of the season. I specifically requested by bindings be adjusted smaller and provided them with my boots so they could get the fit right. When I returned the next day, I noticed they had not changed bindings at all, but changed me the extra fee for the adjustment.
When I told a staff member he had forgotten to do the adjustment, he stated that my board was already adjusted properly.
I had put put on both shoes and point out to him where my bindings did not fit. Only then, he went back and did the adjustment I requested. Careful if you get your board or ski’s set up here! I’m worried someone will get injured when their board is not set up properly.

I went to buy dodgeballs for Reservoir Dodge spring season, and stupidly I had waited to long to get them in time off of Amazon.
I thought maybe there might be some place in town that sells them? Google told me that nobody in Edmonton sold them. Don’t believe me? Google it.
I eventually gave up and started calling any store that might carry them. United Cycle funnily did.
I thought they were just cycles. You know, like, ding ding, pedal bikes.
Turns out I was in look and got a hold right away of somebody who knew
1. What a dodgeball is
2. Had exactly the balls I wanted.
3. The prices were very comparable to Amazon (vs the F U price I was expecting)
While waiting on hold, I heard on their phone message that you could $ 10 off if you were going to buy online.
I asked them when they got back onto the phone if I could do that in store «NO, was the answer»
They DID however have a pick up instore as an option.
So I could theoretically do this. Order online, and pick up in STORE!
Hilarious.
I walked into the store, and omg! this place is huge, it’s what a sportscheck should look like.
They had pretty much everything. To put into perspective, they had a GLOVE steamer for baseball mitts. I never knew such things existed.
They also had a huge rack of Marvel Under Armour shirts, and DC skateboards.
All I could think of was, «whoa, now this a sport store.»
The next thing that super impressed me was, I was greeted within 30 seconds, and then greeted again in 2 minutes.
This was a well run operation.
Then I went to the dodgeball area, and got exactly the balls I wanted.
I got 2 types. I bought 2 red balls, and 1 blue ball, because who needs a set of blue balls? Not this guy.
This is when I ran into the snag. Their online store didn’t carry the red ball. Nope. They had to have somebody enter it into the online store (I wait patiently).
Then when I checked, they had actually entered an incorrect ball. Another version of the blue ball. (I wait, not so patiently)
Then finally they enter the right SKU for the red ball. They also then give me the sku # so I can enter it in to the search bar.
I patiently create an account online on my phone, enter the items and try to pay. It was a huge failure. It kept saying «missing a field» even when they were all clearly filled out. At this point I am no longer so patient and give up.
Miles, who was helping me out in the store actually walked me down and made sure I got the discount at the till.
Hurray! Still a little grumpy about their online experience, but the store itself is amazing!

United Cycle is right off of whyte avenue but has a free super huge parking lot. Go there !

Every time i go there i spend money. Very nice store, good products and big selection. Just bought our specialized bikes from this store. Like their service, price was a bit high, but that’s probably because of good product.

I’d give a 1000 stars for their tent sale that happens in July. The deals you get there are crazy insane amazing. I bought two decent tennis rackets for 35 $ at the tent sale which was 50% of the original price. I almost dropped 400 $ for skis as well. However, at the last second realized that I still suck enough at skiing to not invest in a decent pair yet. But you can rest assured that I’ll be there July 2015!
Outside of the tent sale I purchased a bike here recently. The sales person was new who sold it to me, but he did get help from others when I had a number of questions that needed answering. It did take about 10 mins of me looking at a bike for salesperson to approach me though. This is longer than I thought it would be.
However, they were excellent once I purchased the bike getting it ready for me. Even told me about taking good care of it. I believe there is 1 year cover on adjustments for the bike. So anytime you need a few minor things adjusted, like cables, etc., you can bring it to tune it.
Overall I love united cycle. It is one of the few places where I can spend hours just looking through sporting equipment. My cash flow however hates this place!

Where to start? There’s just about everything (sports related of course) you could possibly be looking for here at united cycle. Their prices are reasonable and the quality is pretty good. You get what you pay for right?
They have everything from bikes (well it is called united cycle after all) to sports equipment to athletic clothing. Their selection of bicycles are impressive and they will most probably have whatever you are looking for. Whether you are a commuter or a serious cyclist or an adventurous mountain biker, there’s something for you here. Their sports products span from hockey to football, American football (soccer), basketball, baseball, racquetball, tennis, golf, oh my goodness I could go on and on. Anyways, the point is, they have a lot of stuff.
Most of the employees there are nice and knowledgable, plus they don’t work off of commission so they don’t pressure you to make purchases. If you do go on the weekend, prepare to wait a while for assistance though. They are very busy and unfortunately, we ran into a new employee who was swamped and had no idea what he was doing. Aside from that, it was a good experience. If we had been in a hurry though, it would have lost our sale.

I was a little concerned when Peter in service told me after having my bike and my daughters bike for nearly a week, that it would be another 8 days before they could do any work on it. It took a week for someone TO LOOK at the two bikes that only required a quick tune up (less than a days work), then it would take an additional weeks wait to actually get another mechanic to look at it. Worst experience ever… especially after my bike was just in United cycle for a $ 100 tune up less than 2 weeks ago. So far, they’ve had my bike for longer than me. The bill is an additional $ 350.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone that is getting work on old bikes done there as they prioritize new bike sales over used bike tunes.
Save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere. They were rude and I felt rushed and pressured into the sale of a new bike, and therefore the tune of my older bikes took forever. I won’t be going back.

United Cycle undoubtedly has a huge selection. Unfortunately when we went there to look at bikes, the staff couldn’t seem to be bothered to help us. They seemed bored, and just said «well, there’s some bikes over here I guess.» I think maybe, as casual cyclists, our patronage didn’t hold the interest of their hyper-​enthusiast staff. Furthermore, their prices are — and I don’t use this word lightly — RIDONKULOUS. We went to MEC and they had nearly as good a selection, the quality of the products was easily as good as United Cycle, and at half the price. Also, the MEC staff were incredibly friendly and helpful — a stark change from the United Cycle staff who just seemed ready for us to leave the moment we walked in.

This is where you need to go for gear! Holy mecca of sports. UC is huge, filled to the rafters with all your sporting good needs, decked with jerseys and teaming with helpful and really knowledgeable staff. Every sport you can name, well, they got it covered! I have to say, it had been a few years since the last time I was in and boy was I thrilled with my experience. Wandering around and checking out all the cool stuff gave me little fan-​girl goosebumps. It had me craving going to an Oil game and itch for the snow to melt so I can pick up a birdie and racket again. If you are feeling like maybe you’re in a bit of a physical slump, get off your couch, come stroll through this store and get your inner jock to come back out. I promise, this store will not disappoint!

United Cycle is one of my favourite businesses in Edmonton. Hands down. I don’t own a bike, and I haven’t been on one in many years — but if that changes I know where I will go.
I am quite active and play volleyball, go to yoga classes and various fitness classes around Edmonton throughout the year. I have never been to another sporting goods store with such selection, knowledgeable staff and great atmosphere combined.
I always feel so welcome when I walk in the door and there are numerous employees around to ask questions as needed.
They carry such a variety of sporting good supplies I often find myself dreaming about all the new sports I could take up one day, when I have a bit more time and money on my hands!
Their apparel selection is HUGE! If you love and live in active wear 90% of the time, like I do, you will be in heaven! They often have great clearance racks too!
I love the displays and the way the store is organized, I often find myself walking out of there with WAY more than I had planned on — not because of pushy sales people but because of the way the store is laid out I find things I forgot I needed, but that compliment what I was originally going in for!

Our family LOVES United Cycle!
Not only do they have an excellent selection of bike stuff and clip shoes (which I love for spin class) but they carry tons of other fitness and workout gear… We’ve also bought many an Oilers themed goodies for our toddler there — including the only place we found Oilers Wood Alphabet Blocks… that’s right, I said old school wooden alphabet blocks!
I love their big sales, too! A few months back I picked up two pairs of Helly Hansen runners (the mesh kind that are breathable) for $ 19.99 a piece… originally around $ 100 a piece! Gosh… I love sales!
If you’re a big Oilers fan… it is worth your time to sign up for their e-​mail list as they have autograph sessions several times a year!
If it’s running shoes, hockey, or bike stuff you’re after… United Cycle is your place!
I’ve always found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful to boot!
They’ve even installed my clips on my spin shoes for free!
Their customer service and selection keep us coming back! They are our favorite Sports/​Fitness related store in the city by far!
