I was skeptical about going in to this store after my terrible experience at the Kingsway location, and I admit to being worried when my mum and I first walked in. The one associate working was on a personal phone call when we got there(we were the only customers in the store), and didn’t interrupt her call to acknowledge us or even give us a smile and a wave. This is a big«no-no» for me when it comes to customer service, but I was there with a mission and decided to truck on anyway. They had a huge sale going on, with clearance items(already 50−70% reduced) being marked down an extra 50%. While I didn’t get the black leggings I originally went it for(the quality wasn’t there for the price), I did manage to walk out with a pair of jeans, a denim skirt and two sweaters for less that $ 50. How can you go wrong with that? I will also say that after the associate had finished her call, she was very attentive and informative, but not pushy or inappropriate. She got a few points added back on for that redemption.

I was in 2 different locations in May 2012, a regular store and one outlet store. This is my second pregnancy so I’m not a stranger to this store. Both visits were great, staff were very helpful UNTIL I HADTORETURN/EXCHANGE my purchases. All smiles and good customer service were thrown out the door. I gave the girl in the cash 2 different receipts and I said I had to return 3 items and exchange one. I guess she got confused with my words because while holding my receipts she said to me «I don’t know what you’re asking me to do.» I paused and gave hear a look of «are you for real?» and repeated I had items to return and one item to replace. While I wait for her to process my transaction, I was told to wait so that they can ring up a customer purchasing items eventhough I was the first in line and the refund was already started. Unbelievable that I was set aside because I wasn’t purchasing anything. I felt very bad after that but I still kept my composure and didn’t give them bad attitude. I’ve been a customer of their sister company Reitman’s for so long and I’ve returned/exchanged purchases there before but never was I treated like dirt. I’ve purchased more than $ 500 on these two trips to Thyme Maternity. To me that’s a lot of money. And because of this bad experience with them, I won’t even recommend them to my family and friends. I’ll tell them to go another place that will value their business more. Maria Toronto

I went into this store recently to purchase some maternity clothes. It was probably my third visit to the store in the past two months. Thyme Maternity, part of the Reitmans Fashion Group, is a good place to get basic maternity wear. Bras, underwear, pyjamas, yoga wear, jeans, casual wear, dress pants — the store carries a very wide selection of clothing geared towards getting you through every stage of pregnancy. Everytime I walk into the store, it seems that there is a sale going on. On my last visit, I was able to purchase a pair of jeans, cordoroy pants, 3 tops, a bra and some underwear for about $ 200. Plus, I received two gift cards worth $ 50 each, which I can redeem on my next purchase of $ 100 or more. The store also has a good 30 day return policy — when I went to return a couple of items I had purchased on a previous visit, they gave me no hassle in refunding my purchase. The service is what you would expect at a big box store — satisfactory, but not in any way exceptional. The salesgirl found me the sizes I needed, but wasn’t particularly helpful in explaining how the clothes(particularly the pants) would grow with me during my pregnancy. However, she was quite young — if she hadn’t been pregnant before, it might have been hard for her to understand how the clothes would fit as the body changes. While this is a good store for basic pieces, it’s certainly not the place to go if you are looking for anything unique to express your personal style. Although there were some nice things, nothing really stood out to me. Which I guess makes sense, because it seems like every pregnant woman in Edmonton basically shops at the same two chain stores. If you want to look a different from everyone else, you’ll have to scout out other stores(like Yo Mama), go to the States, or shop online. But for basic items, this store is a good start.
