The Happy Camel

Hummus? More like yummus… yeah I’m lame. Seriously though, they are my absolute favourite hummus, dips, and pitas in this city. The different kinds are so flavorful and are never chalky or bland like grocery store brands. Pitas keep great in the freezer and can toast what you need to reheat. I easily go through 2 containers a week. Deeelish.

Amazing pita bread. So soft and fluffy. Wonderful toasted and as a substitute to regular sandwich bread! Best in Edmonton. Thank you Happy Camel!

Mmmm… hummus. Or as my toddler says, «Yummus!» I am convinced that my son’s appreciation for this delightful Mediterranean dip is because he’s used to the good stuff from Happy Camel. We go through at least a tub of hummus a week, sometimes more. But only if it’s Happy Camel hummus. If we go for a variety from the grocery store, it will take much longer to finish it off since it’s just not as tasty. Even at 20 months, he knows the good stuff, the quality «yummus». And the good stuff is what Happy Camel provides.

Yummmmmm. Happy Camel is my go to for Pita and dip. They have a great stand at the OSFM and I usually buy pit and hummus every week for snacks and extra when I entertain and let me tell you… Happy Camel does not disappoint! The pit and dip at this place is absolutely to die for.
It’s been the greater part of 4 months and I’m not even close to being sick of their amazing assortment of dips and amazing staff. I’m typically a person who can’t eat the same food for too many weeks in a row but this place is definitely the exception. so fresh! Not only can you freeze the pita and re-​heat it later… if you buy fresh and want to add to your tasty snack just stick it in the toaster and voila warm and crunchy pita… so delicious with your hummus!
I love the assortment at Happy Camel, the traditional dips are great but the Moroccan hummus really adds a kick to your dip. It’s great they have so many different kinds of dip, I just love it. Happy Camel 4 Eva!

I have been buying the Happy Camel’s dips /​pitas at the Old Strathcona and Callingwood farmers markets for quite a while now, and occasionally make it out to their west end store. They make probably the best hummus I’ve ever had, and all their other dips are quite good too. They also make fresh pitas that are excellent. My wife enjoys their whole wheat pitas, and they also have a couple varieties of gluten free pitas that I enjoy (something that’s hard to find in the usual grocery stores). They also sell some things like authentic turkish delight that I don’t think you can get anywhere else in Edmonton.
The owner at the store is probably the friendliest guy around. Really great customer service. He helps you try new things (in a friendly not pushy way), and I almost always end up with something discounted or free when I come in for a large purchase. You will pay more for the Happy Camel’s foods then you would at a grocery store, but the comparison in flavour and quality make it completely worthwhile. Also great to support a local family business.

My friend and I wanted to try something new and being vegetarian, she suggested checking out The Happy Camel. I’ve seen the owner as a vendor at many Farmers Markets around Edmonton and have always been delighted with his tasty dips.
The actual store front is quite small, but for two friends catching up, it was perfect. There’s a nice area where you’re able to taste all of the dips (just like the Farmer’s Market) and a little table where the two us were able to still down and eat our lunch. She had the hummus and pita and I had the falafel sandwich (Amazing!!!); both of us were impressed. A nice bonus was the owner, he provided possibly the best customer service I’ve had in a long time. He didn’t intruded, but was able to offer more pita bread, clear our plates, etc
