I shop here regularly for a couple of items I can’t get elsewhere. The produce is usually fresh and they have a good selection but man their customer service is the absolute pits. You’d think they’d get on board with some customer service training even just for soft skills. :(

We usually come here to purchase soft drinks and juice for our café. For our last purchases we found out that the juices we bought were expired. Unfortunately, we didn’t look at the expiry date and we took some of the product out the packaging. We came back to return the product but one of the cashiers, Reta, was adamant about being difficult and giving us a hard time. Most of the product was already expired when we bought it but there were a couple that were purchased and had a shelf life of 3 weeks and Reta was persistent that it was our own fault. During this ordeal one of the workers in the area said they have issues with Coca Cola, yet still she continued to push that it was our own fault. So we got the manager involved and we checked the product currently on their shelf. It was all expired. The manager told them to give us a refund and still Reta, continued to push that we don’t deserve the refund. All this could have been avoided if Reta was not involved. On top of that this is a food safety issue which we brought up in which she told us «was none of their concern.» TGP has definitely lost a customer after this ordeal not only for this incident but we have lost all confidence in their product quality.

This is an absolutely great place to go when you are shopping for a large event or a party for or to stock a store. It is not where you go to grocery shop for your house. I feel like there is a lot of confusion surrounding what this is, it’s not where you go to do your weekly grocery shopping for your family. This place supplies places that sell items that come from here: restaurants, convenient stores, places like that… When I need a flat of pop or water this is it where I go, etc.

The Grocery People vs: Superstore — The Grocery People have way more selection at similar prices The Real Canadian Wholesale Club — Same store as Superstore but The Grocery People have way more selection at similar pricing Costco — Costco has less selection although the Kirkland brand and value can’t be beat. I would say that Costco is cheaper than TGP, but TGP has better selection Save-on: you are kidding Sobey’s: Sobey’s is more expensive but has better variety and«niche» products Sobey’s Hollick Kenyon: Are they still in business? lmao I love The Grocery People. Decent pricing, it is not crazy packed all the time, and their selection beats the heck out of most of the others… we will be back soon!

I really wasn’t impressed with this store. The selection is inadequate, the staff weren’t friendly, the size of most the bulk products is not realistic for residential consumers. I’d rather go to Costco, membership and all.

The Grocery People is a great place for shoppers who want to buy in bulk without having to purchase a membership. Grocery People sells all kinds of canned goods, candy, snacks, cereal, meats, produce — pretty much anything you would find in a typical grocery store, in bulk, and with good value. People who come here shop for themselves or organizations because of the great prices. The selection is not as huge as other bulk stores, but I like the fact that you don’t have to spend money to spend money(so to speak).
