Great variety of sashimi, sushi and food items available for dinner AYCE for $ 30 on par with other AYCE places like Zen, Sapporo and Watari around Edmonton. Since the last time I went, the menu has been updated with a couple new items such as oil fish sashimi, crab legs, beef tatami & deep fried banana to name a few. The crab legs were okay, just 2 – 3 legs per person and limited to one order but decent for AYCE as the other places don’t even offer it AFAIK. The sweet shrimp sashimi were puny though, definitely not worth ordering in place of the other choices. During my visit I noticed that the place does become rather busy after 6(even on a weekday) and food will take longer to arrive/service declines. The place could use an extra hand or 2 during the dinner rush. Eg) I received an order of cool beef ribs and my request for more wasabi was never fulfilled though not a deal breaker as I didn’t ask again for it/getting full at that point. Additionally sometimes see new customers waiting to be seated and food in the window waiting to be taken to their respective tables. Take your time ordering your meal and make multiple orders as they do charge for uneaten leftovers by the piece but they box it for you to take home. Note: There is a wait between getting your dishes and between order tickets so keep that in mind while reordering.

I was deeply disappointed by Sushi Garden. The sushi was tasteless and the fish didn’t feel great. Raw fish has to be excellent in order to not feel queasy, and the fish simply did not go down well. The quality of the sushi, in a word, was subpar. I could not pick out distinct tastes in the sushi. The staff were helpful but a little confused. It took them five minutes to find a menu that was not an AYCE menu. As for non-fish items, the gyoza were very dry and tiny for the price. I would not recommend ordering them. The mango sushi were very interesting: the tempura bits made for a very unique texture. I loved them and everyone else at my table did too. Also, I would not recommend this restaurant for business lunches or dates. It’s far too run down. Unfortunately, the mango sushi is not enough to convince me to come back here. Skip this place.

So went for dinner with a co-worker. Thought sushi would be good. Arrived, the place looked kinda iffy but hey you never know. It’s all you can eat, second red flag, shoulda left right then but we’re from outta town. So order some food and this is where it gets worse. The miso soup sucked. Didn’t know it was possible but not good. And I eat a lot of sushi, I’m from Vancouver the land of sushi. Then the sashimi arrived, wasn’t great but not bad. The worst was the tempura. Such bland rubbery tempura I didn’t know existed. I’d go elsewhere in the future and suggest you do the same. Good eating!

Downgrading my rating. Still an OK meal, but the AYCE price jumped by $ 5 without a corresponding jump in quality. The salmon sashimi was not fantastic and there was a ton of the crunchy bits in all the rolls. I’m willing to pay $ 25 for better quality at lunch but won’t pay it for what we had.

Great options in all you can eat menu. Great deal for the price. Fresh sashimi. Large portions. Great for large groups. Located on mayfeild road hidden behind save on foods. This mid size restaurant has lots of parking. The restaurant is quite midsize to large with lots of tables. As i was in a group of 10 people. First off the menu is quite large and a bit overwhelming. They gave our group 1 menu and 1 order sheet which made it difficult to order. They should of provided at least 3 menus so we could browse the menu quickly. But instead to figure out our order it had to be passed around and it took about 45 min with a bit of chaos. So minus a star for skimping out on menus for a large group of ten??? I would highly recomended if you are in a large group to just order 1 of everything. Portions are large and we found that we were worried one order would not be enough. But one order was perfect for everyone to try a piece. The portions are big. Like the seaweed salad is enough for 4 people to share. Its served in a bigger bowl than those individual miso soups. The soups are served in the big bowls used to serve phở. The agadashi tofu was plain and kinda soggy and was a large portion even for our group of 10. The edamame beans came in a huge basket that probably had 8 ounces of beans in them. I found the seafood dishes to be skimpy. Like the rock shrimp were tiny mini cocktail shrimp like the smallest shrimp ever. I ordered 4 portions and it was only 8 pieces and the smallest mini bite size pieces. I think they purposely just served a smaller serving bc on the menu it said 4 pieces a serving. But half was only given to us. The salmon belly was the size of two thumbs put together. It was just one bite. The deep fried scallop was regular size but had to be ordered individually. And resulted in us not ordering enough. The calamari was good and was served with a yummy sweet sauce. Everything tasted great though. Flavours were fresh and tasted great. Next we had entrees of udon mixed vegtables, fried rice, beef short rib, shrimp and yam tempura, chicken katsu. The udon had tons of vegtables with not much noodles and was a bit bland for my tastes. The rice was slightly soggy and unflavourful. The short rib was full of bones and was the skinniest beef ribs ive ever had. The shrimp and yam tempura were decent but were a tad oily and heavy from what i typically like. The chicken katsu was undisiferable. It literally did not look like chicken and we only discovered it was the chicken when the calamari came. Bc honestly when we tried it it tasted like deep fried batter. There was no hint of chicken flavour there. All of the dishes were fillers and didnt have a great taste. They were decent but everything was on the bland side. We tried several rolls like dynamite, fire and ice, california, spider crab, spicy tuna and spicy scallop. All of there were generic sushi where you couldnt really taste the seafood parts bc there was barely anything there. The best one was the spider crab. But it didnt taste anything like traditional spider crab. It actually was imitation crab filled with tempura bits and slathered in spicy mayo. It was good but not anything i was expecting. The same for the spicy scallop roll. I could not taste the scallops and the sauce overwhelmed the dish so much i could only taste rice and sauce. The rolls were decent for ayce joints. And actually surprised me bc they were not mostly just rice like they are at other places. Lastly we were served our sashimi platters. We only ordered about 60 pieces of tuna and 60 pieces of salmon. For 10 of us this was way below the standard quota of 30 pieces of sashimi per a person. I was pleasantly surprised to find the sashimi fresh and melt in your mouth. Every piece was delicious! Im a big sashimi fan and at some places i cant even swallow the sashimi served. Just as good if not better than mikado! My only gripe is that they served this last. And in half portions. The 30 pieces served were quickly gone and there was a long wait time for the rest to actually come. They even gave us a double check like are you sure you want the rest to come? Yes. Of course we want the best part of the meal! So minus a star for trying to weasel out of serving us what we all came for and making us wait forever for. Also dont be adventerous. Stick with sashimi thats ordered frequently to get fresh stuff. My advice. Stick to the sashimi. Max out on that. Service for our group was great. Efficient quick and friendly. We were all pleased with how great they were to us. They cleared our dishes promptly. They finished our meal with a choice of mint chocolate chip, vanilla or green tea ice cream. But theres also mandarins at the register. For $ 27.99 for dinner and $ 16.99 for kids 10 and under. It was a great deal. One of the best ayce joints ive been to in edmonton. With limited choices available. This one is pretty decent.

I was grossly dissapointed with sushi garden. Ordered a «combo pack» which pictured looked like plenty of food and received a few scraps of lettuce with apple sauce on it as a salad and a few tasteless, fillingless, barely — wrapped rolls of sushi which was not what was written on the menu(and I know i didn’t get someone else’s order because we were the only ones there). Not what was advertised and not worth my money. Will not go back.

I’m a trucker delivering in and around Edmonton… always in search of those restaurants other than truck stops… this is easily accessible and plenty of parking for big rigs on the street front. As for the service… quick and polite. I ordered a couple rolls to go and they were very tasty… I’ll definitely go again and try more of the menu.

Went here on a Thursday night. The location is a bit sketchy next to an old motel and the restaurant itself is dated but I LOVE the food! Service was friendly and prompt. There is a fairly large selection of cooked AND raw food so there’s something for everyone. On top of your typical sushi dishes there is wonton soup, BBQ ribs, calamari, shrimp, teriyaki beef, etc. They also offer ice cream at the end! I know that sounds disgusting on top of fish but it actually isn’t as bad as it sounds. Overall, I will return. Don’t be scared to give this place a try!

I am 100% guilty for completely judging this place before trying it. The location isn’t the best, located next to a seedy motel, I automatically assumed the food would be gross. The words ALLYOUCANEATSUSHI, seemed questionable. However, upon my dad’s suggestion(he swears by this place) we went here for dinner. I was surprised that the place was more than half full. The crowd was a mix of different nationalities and ages. The place was bright and clean. Menu that was offered was all you can eat. For those of you who don’t like sushi or sashimi… there were many items other than sushi. Such as: tofu, dumplings. Gyoza, assorted vegetables, noodle dishes and chicken/beef teriyaki, oysters etc/. These dishes were also included in the«all you can eat» category. Food came out very fast, and I was very surprised that everything was fresh and tasted REALLY good. The special on Sunday was Alaskan crab, again, ALLYOUCANEAT! Ice cream was offered at the end of our meal, choices were mango, green tea and vanilla. You got a fair bit of ice cream and I disagree with the other reviewer the ice cream was yummy and did not taste funny or smell fishy. At $ 30/per adult(prices less for children 6 – 10 and even lower for children under 6) this is a great deal! Appearances can be deceiving! Check this place out!

The food here is to die for. Love the sashimi, salmon belly, beef ribs, mussels, miso soup, bbq eel and squid, tempura, and anything with avocado in it. Their sushi is as beautiful on the plate as it is in your belly. The sashimi is sweet and melts in your mouth. Normally, I would have hesitated to give this place a four, and it’s because of the service. It used to be confused and/or apathetic. I can say that service last night for a table of six was prompt and friendly. Even when the service isn’t great, we all keep coming back, the food is that good. It’s $ 30 a person for supper All-You-Can-Eat, but worth it.

I am so sad to give Sushi Garden 2 stars. The food would literally get 1 star(According to the Unilocal Guide 1 star = Eeks, me thinks not! 2 stars = Meh. I’ve experienced better.) but the staff were friendly, prompt, and efficient so I have to at least bump them up to 2 stars. But let me be crystal clear, I will not return to Sushi Garden. My mother and I came to celebrate my belated birthday on a weeknight evening. The menu was vast with more options than most other sushi buffet style restaurants in Edmonton but the quality was subpar. I get being charged for wasting food — but what if you cannot stand it? Like, literally gagged on it :-(There were a few no goers for us and we are usually quite adventurous. I thought it particularly odd when they offered a scoop of vanilla or chocolate ice cream at the end. Umm… No, thank you? All I could imagine is getting ill on the way home with fishy smelling sashimi coming up with ice cream, yeah… that was a big no. The restaurant itself was clean with plentiful natural light from the windows. To be fair, there were a couple tasty items that we tried: mango roll, bbq sliced ribs, and the tempura shrimp but nothing wowed me and a few things did not settle right. At the end of the story, I was up in the night ill and there was no flu bug in my house :-( Maybe it was just an off day, but regardless, I won’t be back and it will be awhile before I’m feeling raw fish adventurous again.

I chose this restaurant based on so many good reviews by fellow Unilocalers, but ended up disappointed in much of the offerings. and sorry that I took someone here for their birthday dinner. It’s not a restaurant’s fault if you just don’t like an item, but to be penalized monetarily if you don’t eat it seems a bit sadistic. I fully understand they don’t want people wasting food — that’s perfectly fair — but we ended up in hysterical giggles(and stomach aches) trying to convince each other to finish up dishes we didn’t like. There WERE some very tasty choices, like the tempera shrimp and veggies, ribs, teriyaki meats, mango roll, avocado and shrimp rolls. Those we did enjoy. However, there were some items I’d rank as «awful» as well. I don’t like ordering seafood soup and have it turn out to be one piece of seaweed and some fake crab pollack, nothing else. And the«tempura crab» was fake pollack as well. The wonton soup tasted dreadful — how can you make chicken stock taste bad? The seafood udon was also just fake pollack — this is NOT my idea of «seafood,» folks. I wouldn’t have ordered any of the seafood items if I had known, but once ordered, you either eat it or pay extra for NOT eating it — seemed like a no-win situation in some cases. The sashimi platter nearly did us in. We made the mistake of eating it last, and too much raw fish on top of things we hadn’t liked was just tooooo much … but if we didn’t eat it, the penalty fees would have matched the price of the meal. My one big lesson to take away was that I had never eaten mackerel before, and will never be in the same room with it again. You know how low tide at an ocean inlet smells? Make it a few weeks old, and that’s what the mackerel tasted like. I have no idea if that’s what it’s supposed to taste like, but it made me distrustful of the rest of the fish, which didn’t seem like it was new today. The snapper was rubbery — again, it’s the first raw snapper I’ve had and don’t know if it’s supposed to be like that, but it wasn’t pleasant. The salmon and tuna were okay, not the usual sashimi grade or cut, and not completely fresh, but okay. It’s obviously a popular spot — for a Monday evening, there were a lot of diners, and several extended family/friends groups. Because there are so many other great reviews, I’d still recommend giving it a try — it may simply have not matched my own taste bud preferences — but I don’t think I’ll be craving sushi again anytime soon.

Was in town on a business trip, and Unilocaled a local sushi spot as always. Found Sushi Garden as it was a 4 minute drive from my hotel — what a disappointment! First off, it’s next to a run-down motel on the backside of an otherwise nice shopping center by an alley-way. Maybe 6 – 7 tables were taken when I walked in. I decided I’d do the«All you can eat.»(AYCE). Took them 15 minutes to come ask me what I wanted, I told them I wanted to do the AYCE, then they gave me a sheet and walked off. No one came back for another 10 minutes. Finally ordered my food and it came out quickly. The food looks delish, but man, what a let down! All 3 rolls I ordered tasted the same — bland, smelled extremely strong, and overall blah. I ordered 3 different kinds of Sashimi and they smelled a little off too. I was not pleased. The highlight and saving grace of my meal was the edamame. Also, even though its AYCE, there’s a 30 piece maximum on what you can really eat and whatever you don’t eat, gets charged at an extra cost! WHAT?! Definitely not going back there. If you’re in the seafood mood, I would go to Red Lobster. It’s a block away.

We came for sushi on our Edmonton vacation. The service was OK … a little slow. They brought us the menu sheet to check off the items we wanted for the all you can eat buffet. We FILLED it out… I mean it, we wrote down a tonne of items. The tea and soups came our first… Soups were served with no spoon, the boys drank them down, they were lukewarm and very bland. Then the sushi started to arrive. WE all really enjoyed the sushi pizza, the sashimi is super tiny and cute, limit of 430 pieces per person, we were nowhere near that number. We ate as items arrived, and they continued to bring us menu sheets which we did not need or use, perhaps this is so you forget what you ordered and order more and then cannot finish it. All the food we had was very tasty. BUT some items we ordered never showed up, I wanted to try one of the vegetarian rolls and at least 2 that we ordered never came. WE were full either way, so it didn’t really matter… but I did find it strange.

I’ve now eaten here multiple times and the service is quite regular. the food is always great, as long as you come feeling hungry. i really like the chicken teriyaki rolls. one minor thing that bothers me is that they occasionally put empty plates from other tables on the tray together with your food.

The place itself is sketchy! But this is the best AYCE sushi in Edmonton so far. The fish is always fresh and even the rolls are not bad. Keep coming back as there is nowhere else to go.

I must admit that this place is by far the best All-You-Can-Eat sushi restaurant in Edmonton. Discount the quality of service it provides — they serve up pretty good appetisers, delicious rolls, a good variety of fresh sashimi and to top it off with some ice cream to finish up the palate. The restaurant is located just behind save-on-foods and next to a motel. Not entirely a classy looking or even modern looking in any of their interior design, the AYCE dinner period is worth the dine in experience compared to its lunch period. The lunch offerings are very limited and they do not offer sashimi which I find a tad disappointed at one point when I went in for lunch with my partner. That was the one and only time, we did AYCE for lunch and have always been a regular for the dinner period. The rock shrimp is deliciously done with a beautiful sweet sauce over it. I couldn’t get enough of it. One of the items that I regularly order is the Pink Lady Roll. Oh my days, it has this beautiful crunch in the middle — a slice of fresh sashimi to top it off: gorgeous. I’d say it’s one of those to-die-for rolls. The food is worth every penny spent. As for the service itself, it’s not entirely bad but I would say it’s sufficient — prompt — and friendly.

While all you can eat sushi tends to send off subconscious alarm bells in my psyche, I like Sushi Garden. For 26 $ there is quite a selection from which to choose. Even you don’t do fish because of Fukushima, there are options such as chicken, beef and vegetable tempura. Ice cream is available at the end if you have room. Though the concept of fish mixed with ice cream doesn’t necessarily sound appetizing, it didn’t phase me. The place is clean, tea is good and the service excellent. This being said I think the all you can eat price is high. I can think of several sushi restaurants of similar quality that would not lock me into a must eat to get value situation. You can get smaller orders and pay for those and not all you can eat, but I was just talking about the all you can eat experience. All in all, I’ll come back someday.
