I would concur with almost all of the other reviews. I have a feeling this place doesn’t have any regulars… it’s just busy with people in the mall who want to get their nails done.
The girl who did my nails was quite rude and unapproachable. She told me I needed a new set, instead of a fill, because my nails were peeling. That’s fine, but when I said no (I wanted to wait to go to my regular nail salon), she became extremely violent with my nails. After she applied the acrylic fill, she flipped over my nails to shave down the excess from the inside. But she took the drill and shaved off my real nails! My real nails were the length of the acrylic nail and I’ve been wanting to transition to just gel but she ruined my real nail! I asked her what she was doing and she said she was just cleaning it up…
Beyond that, their polish selection was really minimal and she wouldn’t help me pick any colors when I showed her the picture of what I wanted. I told her I wanted the acrylic to be thin and she said, «no I’m going to make it medium». I really felt like she didn’t care what I wanted, at all.
Finally, it was the pricing that got me. $ 25 for a fill (this is normal) + $ 20 for gel (I usually pay $ 15) + $ 5 design + $ 5 for coffin shape. Nowhere on their pricing brochure did it say $ 20 for gel or an extra amount for coffin shape! I kept asking where it was and she just handed me the brochure. I don’t understand why they charge extra to shape your nails either…
I paid this time but I definitely won’t be back. I don’t want to get my nails done in a place where they are just pumping out customers!

Overall I was pleasantly surprised, but definitely not blown away. I’ll be back because it’s cheap and decent.
We got there about 20 minutes early for our appointment and were ushered in to side by side pedicure chairs immediately. From what I saw while I was there, nobody had to wait for more than 5 minutes, whether they had an appointment or not.
Overall the experience was just average. There are TVs on the Manicure side, but hard to see from the pedicure chairs. For some reason my feet were far more ticklish than usual during this visit, and the lady working on my feet seemed incredibly annoyed every time I tensed up or giggled. Not once did I actually move my foot, but she seemed very annoyed with me. I actually felt like I was inconveniencing her by being in her chair part of the time.
My friend that was with me goes for pedicures every 6 weeks because she suffers from severely dry/​cracked heels and ingrown toenails on her big toes (both sides of the nail on both feet). She is very familiar with the pain that comes along with getting the ingrowns taken care of, but said that this one was more painful and uncomfortable than most. (although, she didn’t say anything to the lady doing it, and didn’t tell me until afterwards. I’m sure they would have had someone else do them if she had said something). She also gets shellac polish and a design on her big toes each time. The design was quite poorly done and didn’t match, but again… she didn’t complain so they didn’t have the chance to make it right.
It was a very quick service, as I expected for $ 35. I might splurge and get the spa pedicure next time, but my first choice for pedicures is still Diva Nails in Ellerslie.

I took my sister to Studio Nails for a manicure and pedicure for her birthday. I don’t even know where to start. No dead skin removal from heals, both gals did rub some lotion on a little pumice around the bottom of our feet, bang done. Leg lotion and massage, faster than a speeding bullet. I got my cuticles cut to pieces, bleeding one time and she says «o, put foot in water». Today my big toe is infected and the other toes she cut are very sore. I was charged $ 10 more for each of us. $ 60 instead of the supposed $ 50 and like an idiot I gave her a tip to boot. Today I called to talk to the Manager and they hung up on me! I called back and she said to leave a message for him, I did. Then I asked why they use nail files that have been used on other people, she said no they didn’t, new client, new file. Well the gal that did mine took the used file out of a drawer and when she was done mine, put it back in the drawer. Never going back and advice anyone to spend the extra money and get it done professionally. I am reporting this incident to Edmonton Health Dept. These people should not be running a salon.

I went to Studio nails for the first time last night. The woman who did my nails was very quick and did a great job. I’m pretty picky with faults in my nails and I can’t find anything to complain about. The price wasn’t too bad, $ 60 for a new set of gel nails. I look forward to going back!

Nope. 1 week in and huge thick chunks of Shellac have fallen off my nails. They look like total crap! Considered calling a manager to have them try to fix them, decided not to risk it and just consider it $ 45 lost.
My last Shellac nails lasted an entire month with barely a chip. That’s the difference when someone knows what they are doing.

I recently moved away from the north side, and so I’ve been looking for a close place to get my nails done that won’t break the bank. Stopping into Studio Nails was a huge mistake.
I went in with shellac from the last place that I went to, and just asked for a colour change. I usually get the same colour, which is an opaque creamy white by OPI that most salons carry. It’s a neutral so to find a colour that is similar shouldn’t be hard.
The colour that she started with was clearly pink and totally see-​thru. I immediately stopped her and asked for another colour that was more white. She insisted that after another coat, it wouldn’t be see-​thru. I trusted her and let her continue, but then after two more coats, it was still clear. I told her that wasn’t the colour that I wanted. She then put two more coats of a whiter colour on top of that. So I had 5 coats of shellac on my nails and it was starting to look messy. Then, she put two topcoats on. I now have really thick nails that I hate, and they aren’t even the colour that I wanted. She didn’t even cover my whole nail with the polish. Like the sides were still completely bare. Such an awful job. I was clearly unhappy with them but she told me «they are okay.» Um… You don’t get to decide whether or not my nails are ok. That’s up to me!
I pointed out that she didn’t cover the sides of my nails, and so she filed them off!!! So now the shape of my natural nails is completely fucked up, it’s the wrong colour, and it just looks thick and messy.
Then! She charged me $ 37!!! What the fuck?! $ 37 for just a polish change that you fucked up?! It usually only costs ~$ 24 and give my nail girl $ 30 to include a tip. Worst nail experience of my life. I’m furious, and to top it all off, I’m covered with nail dust because this salon is NOT clean. I will definitely not be returning. Waste of money.

I went here a couple days ago. It was the worst pedicure I’ve ever experienced. The lady kept jabbing the cuticle cutters into my toes. It was very painful. The massage was horrible she just rubbed the lotion on very swiftly nothing to it. They don’t make any conversation with you. Showing they don’t give two sh*ts about you. And last but not least they are all standing around speaking in their own little language. Most likely about the customers. Never go to this place. It’s dirty & I felt like they don’t properly wash tools. My toes still hurt 3 days later, they also bled last night. Worst mistake I ever made stepping into studio nails.

This was my first time here. My actual rating is 2.5 stars.
The place was packed upon arrival and I was told it was a 15 minute wait for a full set of acrylic tips with gel overlay. I asked for a more experienced tech and said I was wiling to wait longer if needed, not sure that made a difference though.
As soon as I sat down she asked if I wanted a pedicure, or glitter, or rhinestones– trying to up sell me from the beginning which I didn’t like.
Unfortunately she did not push my cuticles back or trim them which I have ALWAYS had done at other salons. The whole thing was very rushed and I didn’t get the two minute hand massage at the end either. Don’t know why I tipped $ 10.
In the end I noticed she didn’t fill as much in some fingers and after I complained to another lady, who seemed to give her shit, she reluctantly added more gel.
I will most likely go back but point all these things out in the beginning to make sure I get what I’m paying for.

I went in to get my nails done for my wedding in May. I had gone here for several years before and had a lovely tech named Tracy who always did a good job. I hadn’t been in for a few months. The ownership has changed, and so has the quality and the service. The woman who did my nails this time did a really poor job. I complained as the nails were so thick and weren’t shaped at all. And it hurt. She kept dremelling the skin around my fingers and nicked me a few times. They couldn’t really argue, as my nails really did look terrible. Finally someone else who was more experienced took over and redid them. She did a good job, but I’ve got to say… I’ve moved onto a new salon.

I’ve been in 3 times now for a lower leg wax. What can I say, they always get you in (without an appointment) super fast, they wax like the wind and you are out of there in 10 minutes. It’s not glamorous; you’re in a tiny room on a crappy old table surrounded by the purses and jackets of the staff. Yup, the staff room doubles as the waxing room! But despite that, I’d still pick here over a fancy/​nice place like Evelyn Charles because it’s half the price and a third the time! $ 70 and 30 – 45 to get the hair on my legs pulled out is ridiculous. 10 minutes and $ 35, now that i can handle.

Today was my 3^rd time ever coming here and while I’ve always been pretty satisfied with my nails, every person I’ve had has been super rough; today especially. She cut 4 of my fingers with the metal drill tip and if that’s ever happened to you before, you know how much it stings to begin with, and then they put their finger (covered in acrylic dust) over it to stop the bleeding which in turn stings even more! Ugh. Then the buffing was just brutal, maybe because it was a new sponge, but regardless, I’m pretty sure she took 3 layers of skin off.
When she took the cuticle trimming thing out I’m pretty sure I screamed and told her not to bother, lord knows what could have happened with those. Then of course cleaning the nails at the end was just cruel… stinging everywhere!
But I came out with pretty decent nails I will say. Nearly died in the process, but beauty is pain… right?
If you’re looking for quick nails/​fills this is a decent choice, but definitely not if you’re looking for a relaxing (painless) experience.

Every time that I have gone to Studio Nails I’ve left frustrated, especially when going with a friend. If you plan on going to this nail establishment then go alone, if at all, and don’t even bother making an appointment because they aren’t honored. I booked a few appointments with a friend and every time we went in every chair was full and we had to wait at least 20 minutes after our appointment time. They tried to seat us separately a few times, defeating the purpose of going with somebody. Every time a seat became available they would give somebody else the seat even though we had been waiting 20+ minutes. There were multiple times where a seat opened and they filled it, when if they just would have waited a few minutes the seat beside it was available as well.
Also, a lot of the nail technicians were rough. Not a comfortable or relaxing experience. Doesn’t make any sense to me that a man is running a nail salon. What does he know about providing a good beauty service?
Definitely looking for a new place.

The first trip I took here was a nightmare. The nail tech rushed through my service, was rough and did a poor job overall. I was very dissatisfied with the end result and they were ridiculously expensive for the poor quality they were. Went to vo’s and got the same thing, way nicer for much less.

Me and my friend went in for a pedicure but all we left with was disappointment. We paid $ 35.00 for standard pedicures versus the more expensive spa pedicure so I knew there were bound to be a few extra things I would be missing out on but was shocked when the technician doing my feet informed me spa pedicures had more dead skin removal. I don’t even think that should be an option when deciding what your services will include… it should just all be taken off!
Two days later and my feet don’t even look like I had a pedicure. I could have done this quality of work myself at home admittedly minus the good job she did of shaping my nails. My friend texted me around the same time I noticed the dead skin on my feet to inform me that her polish had bubbles in it. The whole thing just felt rushed and nowhere near worth what we paid for it. Take my advice and spend a few extra dollars to get yourself a higher quality pedicure from somewhere like Eveline Charles.

I’ve gone here about three times. The first time was alright, no complaints but nothing special either. The second time the place seemed a bit dirty and the people seemed disinterested. The third time they hurt my cuticles and spoke only in their language, then let me go with wet nails. I’m boycotting this place, too bad because it was convenient.

I’ve gone to this location twice so far; both times with my mom & sister for manicures as with pedicures.
The locations appearance is pretty much the same as every other nail salon out there, nothing special. It’s located inside Southgate Mall near an entrance.
The first time I went, it wasn’t bad. The woman who did my nails was nice enough and did a fine job. No complaints on my end or my sister as with moms, so when my sister suggested we go again to this location to get for manicures and pedicures, I agreed.
The second time, I left disappointed. The woman I had was extremely rude, impatient and rough. The two woman that were dealing with my mom and sister were pretty much the same. There was no feeling of relaxation or comfort as the woman manhandled me, making me constantly wince in pain. She made no attempts to ask what length I wanted and attempted to keep them at a longer length until I argued slightly that I would prefer them short.
Once we were all finished and went to pay; I noticed we were all charged various different prices even though we all got the exact same thing.
I don’t think I will ever go to this location again; I would rather go to my normal place where the staff is actually friendly and they charge the same price each time.

I have been going to Studio Nails for 2 years now but will be looking elsewhere for my services. A wonderful technician named Nancy worked there and did an excellent job on my gel nails and my pedicures. A man bought the place and it’s steadily gone downhill ever since… actually all the girls that worked there the past 2 years are gone now replaced with. well…bodies.
Once in awhile I went in and had a polish with design put on my toes and today I called and what was once $ 10 is now $ 25??? For 10 minutes work??? I think not!!!

i absolutely love this nail place, its warm welcoming atmosphere is great the only thing is price is to high but you cant ask for a better service!

I didn’t have any problems with Studio Nails, just the shop’s appearance could have been a little more tidy to earn 5 stars.
I went in to get a basic manicure with polish, and ended up deciding to get a gel manicure instead of regular polish. When I walked in, there were three employees just waiting for someone to come in, while the other three or four were already busy with other customers. Got in without a wait, my manicure was great, and only $ 42 after tax.
Easy enough to find in Southgate, plenty of staff, and lots of choice in nail techniques. A nice change from the usual «only one on staff» scenario that I always run into since starting to get my nails done.

Went in for a French manicure, and ended up with fake nails. None of the workers seem to speak English very well, so of course we ended up with a «misunderstanding» about my nails. I said I wanted a French manicure, she asked «with white tips?» which of course I took to mean it would be done in white. Since I’ve never had my nails done before, I had no idea what she was doing to my nails wasn’t a French manicure. Plus I wasn’t told a price, had she told me it would be almost $ 50 for the «French manicure» I would have realized she wasn’t going to be doing what I wanted.
I hate my nails I mean, sure, they look pretty, but I’m not a long nails kind of girl. I am currently living in fear I will break them off.
And they are constantly trying to upsell. «Do you want a pedicure while you’re here? Do you want designs on your nails?» and so on.
It wasn’t horrible. I did have a bad experience, which was partially my fault but I feel that had they communicated better what they were doing (and not assumed I knew what was going on), it would have been avoided.
