Food was good but Maki Maki is better. The prices seemed more than fair and the décor was nice, but the booth we got was horribly uncomfortable! Wood with no cushioning, and it was barely attached and the odd shape meant we couldn’t relax backwards without wood pressing uncomfortably into our backs, and if the table at our back pressed against it, it would lean precariously. I got the chicken and sashimi bento and my boyfriend got the deluxe sashimi and a roll. The sushi roll was much bigger than expected and he wasn’t complaining HAHA! I’d give it four stars if on our next visit we sit at a table rather than the booths.

Yum. When they say the rolls are large they aren’t kidding. We had a hard time finishing everything but we managed. Service was excellent, not rushed. The salmon sashimi was excellent.

Went to this location with a buddy for some epic eating. So first on to the location. –parking and entrance at rear of building. First we were a little sketched out by the outer appearance and location but as soon as we walked through the door we were completely taken by how nice this place was and how friendly the staff were. Fast n friendly service. Always polite to us, even when we got a little out of hand with our crazy antics and non stop shenanigans that guys do when they get together after not seeing each other in a while. Food quality was decent, fresh, and also fast. However some rolls were a little overwhelming from to much rice lol. Honestly to us, it was good to have bigger rolls, so we were cool with that. Others im sure would be a lil disappointed. Selection and variety was ok, but ive had better. For edmonton, its still decent as finding a good all u can eat sushi joint is tough! Finally on to the price. We paid $ 30 each and compared to other All u can eat places its about the standard price for Edmonton. Im from vancouver and $ 20 is an average rate, with way fresher and better variety. All in all, its Edmonton. If your picky, move to Vancouver lol. Its good for edmonton.

In my opinion, it may be one of the best sushi in the city. They have a great service, although the price is up there for a student, it is definitely worth the price.

Came here for an AYCE Sushi date night with the hubs a few months back. The buliding is a bit weird in that you essentiall go into a basement but once inside it’s decorated nicely and the atmosphere is inviting. Staff were friendly and attentive on our visit. The food was pretty good — nothing to knock your socks off. We were both pleased with the sashimi quality given that it’s AYCE on this particular visit. We weren’t able to finish our food and had to pay a small surcharge but our server graciously boxed it to go for us without even being asked. I would come here again but I think I’d rather venture and try a different AYCE Sushi next time. P. S. The location leaves a litlte to be desired if that kind of thing bothers you.

I loved this AYCE sushi place. LOVED. Past tense. I even hyped it to my friends. I brought my friend here to experience it. But the whole experience turned into a fiasco as I initially thought the staff were being rude. We had an issue of ordering too fast on the menu items. What will I do? I eat fast and lots as my body needs it. I brought my workout buddy and he eats good also. He is addicted to sushi and who got me started on eating it in the first place. I asked the staff to give me another ordering sheet but the staff outright refused. She said we need to finish all in plate before she even gives it. She then points out the male cook as the one who said it and says he is the owner. His face looked really grumpy and my friends stopped me from saying anything as I was already beat red from anger. I didn’t expect this kind of behavior from the owner of the business. At all. We all have bad days but taking it out on your customers, in a customer service oriented business, is a big no-no. I won’t be back here.

Expensive. And not not worth the cost for the menu. Way better options mere blocks away.

The staff here isn’t super attentive so if you want to order your food and then be left in peace to scarf it down, this is the place for you. Although it does get irritating when they forget to bring you the beverages you ask for. The sushi isn’t the greatest quality in the world, but I’m not very picky about it since there is an all you can eat option and, in the case of quelling my sushi cravings, quantity definitely beats quality. There’s a fairly decent sized menu for the all you can eat option and it includes a variety of cooked foods in addition to the sushi. If you choose all you can eat, there’s a 2 hour limit.(My friends and I may have been very assertively notified by staff once our time limit was up, oops.) I wouldn’t go here just to buy a couple of rolls. It’s very much an all you can eat experience and you should eat your money’s worth.

The four star rating is definitely a quantity over quality rating. The sushi is alright and I enjoyed everything we ordered off the all you can eat menu, but it wasn’t the best sushi I’ve ever had(compared to sea side in BC or sushi in Asia). The best thing about them is their all you can eat. For $ 30, you get to order as much as you want over a 2 hour period. It’s amazing and we spent the entire two hours eating until our stomachs hurt. Definitely hit the sushi craving. There is a lot on the all you can menu in addition to sushi or sashimi as well. If you love eating and sushi and aren’t a huge sushi snob, you should really come take advantage if saporro’s all you can eat option!

I LIVE for sushi. It is my favourite thing to eat. Thankfully my husband enjoys it as well — not so much for my Bestie. She prefers the«cooked» versions like the California Roll. I found for her that«All You Can Eat» was a great option for her while learning what she liked. Sapporo is «All You Can Eat». They have a menu that you can order from as well. If you have people that are indulging in the«All You Can Eat», and from the regular menu, they cannot sit at the same table. We found this very annoying. There are large booths in the centre of the restaurant with tables along the right side. The booths are my favourite place to sit, they give you more privacy. The selection is decent on the menu. There is a limit to how many pieces of Sashimi each person at the table is allowed to eat. The Sashimi is super thin, so it really wouldn’t be that hard to eat your limit. Your dessert is not included in your meal price. The deep fried bananas are very good! I am from the West Coast, so I am used to fresh fish and am a little bit of a snob when it comes to Sushi. Sapporo was a compromise so that everyone could get something they like at a non-exorbitant price. For me, Sapporo is like«fast food» sushi. It is decent. It is convenient. The service is hit and miss. They are polite enough, but heaven help you if you need a drink refill or want to order more food for the table! Plan on about two hours to finish your meal. This is not a good place to go to if you are in a rush. If you have a large group, I would suggest reservations. They do have a private room with the low tables, we have never been seated in there with a group so it must be a special request.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Came in on a weekday, and it was just before 12 o clock. The place did not have any signs telling if they were open or not, but the door was open so we assumed they were. We waited at the front desk for about five minutes after ringing the gong for service. There was 4 of us there. Nobody responded, even after we called out«Hello?» politely. We did however hear noises coming from behind the desk, and in the kitchen area. There were two men in the kitchen who clearly saw all of us but neglected to do anything about us waiting. At this point, we grabbed menus and looked through what we were going to order. After another 10 minutes of waiting, my friend politely asked the men over to the side if we could be seated and then asked where we could place our order. He snapped back«We open in five minutes. Wait to be seated.» in an extremely rude and impolite manner, and we were all shocked and disgusted at how we were spoken to. We decided to leave because of the way we were responded to, and the lack of customer service. It would have taken them not even 30 seconds to kindly tell us that they weren’t open yet, or to even have responded a little nicer. Really disappointed and won’t be coming back.

As someone who spends a lot of time working near and around the Royal Alex Hospital, Sapporo Sushi has often been my go-to for takeout during long, never ending nights of work. For a period of time, the girls actually recognized my voice when I used to put in my orders. Always ready in 10 to 15 minutes. Always reasonably fresh and tasty. Always fairly priced. They had kimchi for a while, but it seems to be off the menu now. The restaurant itself is sort-of second tier when it comes to Japanese in our city, but they don’t seem to take themselves too seriously… and it works for them.

This is an all you can eat place that at $ 27/adult isn’t bad. But if you ordered from the regular menu, you come to realize just how mediocre the quality is. Maki rolls are OK, but mine were so cold they had clearly been premade and sat in the fridge. Oyster ponzu was missing the ponzu and the coating was really heavy — like an A+W onion ring. So if you are really hungry and want to eat several plates of rolls and greasy tempura then this is for you. Granted sometimes that is just what you’re craving. But avoid the squid.

I had never heard of this place until a colleague suggested we go. I was a little leary as the entrance is in the alley but when we went in, it was decent décor. I decided on the bento box which came with soup, chicken teriyaki, tempura, and sushi. Compared to other places, it was average. I found the chicken to be a bit bland and sauced up. The tempera pieces were smaller than other restaurants. But the sushi did taste fresh and good. For $ 10, it was a decent meal and the server was attentive. If I were in the area and craving Japanese food, I would try it again but I would not make a special trip there.

I like to eat sushi. And I hang out with a lot of men who like to eat sushi. These men like to consume food in monsterous amounts. Which is why I practically live at Sapporo. I will admit that this place is not«THEGREATESTSUSHIINTOWN.» But for an all you can eat place, this place is my favorite for many reasons. The fish is fresh and always prepared and presented nicely. I adore the staff and they are excellent and attentive. They have a large menu capable of pleasing even my seafood-hating friends. And the price ain’t bad either. They also offer a menu(which I have to admit, I have never tried) but I know the menu has an even wider assortment of foods beyond what is offered on the buffet. Sapporo doesn’t offer a separate all-you-can-eat pricing for lunch and dinner — so no matter when you go, the price is the same — $ 23 per person. However the menu is always the same too. The only limits they place on their order are the sashimi, the baked oyster, and the baked seafood, which is understandable in my eyes. There is a limit of 20 pieces of sashimi per person. And the sashimi is good, if not cut a little thinly. But it’s fresh, melt in your mouth, and delicious. Plus I’ve eaten here a few times a month for the past couple of years, and I have never once gotten sick. Highfive! They offer a wide assortment of maki and cones, as well as hot food such as tempura(veg and shrimp), spring rolls, chicken and beef teriyaki soups and much more. They are an all you can eat place, but they do expect you to eat what you order and will charge you a few bucks if you don’t(they just wrap it up and you take it home). They do this for obvious reasons and I can’t say I have any quams with it. The restaurant is located in a shifty area of town, just east of the hospital and kind of in an alley off of 101st. I have never had any problems before(and I’ve been coming here since this location opened) but I have SEEN homeless people in the area. The inside of the restaurant is simple but quite nice — lots of seating and they are good with groups(however each person at the table must be having all-you-can-eat — I don’t see how this is a problem as I can imagine people ripping them off if they didn’t stick to this rule). Reservations are very helpful, especially for weekend nights, but I have walked in with a large group of 8 with no notice(it was an accident! I swear!) and they were super accomodating and very friendly. Let’s be realistic here. We live in Edmonton, not Vancouver(or a city with an ocean). This sushi is not five star unbelievable. But for the price you are paying and to eat as much as you like, I’d say it’s pretty wonderful.

«All you can eat» and«quality.» It is difficult, at best, to plausibly use these words in the same sentence. It is a conundrum, a quandary, or an oxymoron, depending on the circumstances. At Sapporo, the service was painfully slow, the waitress misplaced our order, and the sushi was so very average. The deep-fried roll was atrocious; they doused it with so much mayo that no other flavour was detectable. I did like the décor… you can never go wrong with Maneki Neko.
