Best steak ever ! Melts in your mouth. The sides are perfect to share with a table full of friends. Yes including your drinks your bill will be $ 200 but the food is worth it.

Me and my husband received a gift card and decided to try this place out instead of our usual keg date night. I made my reservation by phone and the gentleman was extremely polite and easy to deal with. We arrived at 6 pm and we’re greeted by a friendly hostess. Our waiter was an older gentleman and an absolute joy to deal with. He was helpful and polite. My husband ordered the filet and I, the ribeye. My husbands steak was perfection, succulent and cooked exact. My steak was over cooked and burned a little on the outside making my $ 70 steak rough and hard to chew. When we went to pay our bill came to 229. We handed them our 250 gift card and they told us it’s a 30% fee to use it and then proceeded to say we can’t even pay some with the gift card and the rest in cash. We won’t be returning and will be sticking with the keg

Disappointed overall. Very slow service. Not enough cheese bread for the table — sharing slices. Missing utensils for side dishes. Steaks were overcooked! Coffee was stale. Very slow service. This used to be THE high priced steakhouse to go to, but at this price and the fallen quality in food and service there are other definitely other choices. Make the other choice!

The food was magnificent. Everything tasted amazing and the waiters and hostesses were very lovely. We ordered a mix grill, a seafood medley(I think it was called), panko crusted onion rings, broccoli and garlic mashed potatoes. The potatoes would make me come back in a heartbeat. The most perfectly creamy and delicious mashed potatoes I’ve had in a long time. But I still wouldn’t give higher then 3 stars. And I don’t think we’ll come back. My issue is we went for a family dinner, my self, my partner and our 19 month old toddler. It was great, they were nice. They provided a highchair. But when it came time to change him. There was no change table in the men’s or woman’s bathroom. I understand it’s a high end restaurant that caters to adults but if you have a children’s menu and highchairs, why no change table? It was pretty disappointing to have my husband bring him back and and ask me to try the woman’s bathroom only to resort to changing him standing in the handicapped stall. I don’t think we’d come back based solely on the inconvenience. It’s unhygienic and puts a damper on the occasion.

I didn’t feel like cooking last night and I was craving steak… also forgot to defrost the steak from the freezer so the man and I decide to go out to eat. We settled on Ruth’s Chris, being it’s one of his favourite steak house in Calgary. This was my first time at the Edmonton location. We were dressed down… think cropped sweatpants/shorts and a loose fitting workout shirt. We were greeted by the hostess promptly when we walked in and asked for a table for 2. We wanted to sit in the lounge and be laid back. The bartender, who was also our server, was busy making drinks when we sat down but acknowledged us twice that she would be right with us. We ordered the crispy lobster, the mixed grill which had a piece of steak, stuffed chicken and prawns, the T-bone steak, seasonal veggies and shoestring fries. This is where I felt they had lost a star… I had ask my steak to be done rare. Usually it’s more seared on the outside and red on the inside but it was just cooked on the outside and then pink inside. Not a big deal. To sum it up, attentive service, friendly staffs, good food. They don’t judge by what you wear.

My family was visiting from Ontario for my graduation and my moms birthday. As a combined celebration dinner we decided to give this place a try as they were looked to experience that amazing Alberta Beef — and what better way than a highly acclaimed steak house? In the end: we were extremely disappointed. There was 5 of us altogether. We were first introduced to our server Kevin, who seemed like a pleasant man despite his gloating of his wine expertise. We each ordered drinks individually, and then a bottle of wine with dinner. Three started salads were ordered, however only 2 were delivered. In fact, when these salads were delivered(not by our waiter), they were not explained, and therefore I ended up eating the salad that my brother had actually ordered. When we brought to Kevin’s attention(after we had to try multiple times to get his attention to come to the table) he seemed annoyed at our concern for the missing salad — Kevin did not apologize or even create an excuse, he simple brought us a salad a few minutes later. Our entrees were then delivered, with my fathers steak having been the wrong one. He ordered filet mignon, but was delivered the new york strip — again, when brought to Kevin’s attention, there was no apology or excuse offered. He just took the plate away, and a few minutes later returned with the correct plate. My mom actually ordered the New York strip, which was overcooked and according to her bite, my dads bite, and my brothers bite — was an inedible tough piece of meat. By the time Kevin returned to the table to check on entrees, everyone had finished their dinners, except for my mom. When she informed Kevin of the below-par quality of the steak, he once again did not apologize or offer another steak — he just removed the plate. By this point, Kevin has stopped talking to our table any more than he absolutely had too — he also maintained a permanent annoyed demeanor toward our table. We were then given complimentary dessert samples for the birthday and graduation. We also ordered dessert coffees. Overall, the cost of the meal was over $ 700 with a graduation deduction and the removal of my moms inedible steak. For the amount of money spent at this restaurant, we were certainly hoping for much better food as well as dining experience. We will never return to this location, nor any of the Ruth’s Chris at all. The price point is much too high for the quality of food and service they are offering. Clearly this is such a shame as my family was not shy to spend the money that needed to be spent that night. Kevin missed out on a great opportunity to impress and show charm not only for himself, but also for the business itself. My family has a lot of connections, and it is sad that this ‘word-of-mouth’ experience will not be great for Ruth’s Chris. Furthermore, I would suggest to anyone looking to dine here — LOOKELSEWHERE. The Keg is a great option; I’m sure even Moxies could offer better food and service. Safe yourself the bad experience as well as your wallet, and skip Ruth’s Chris altogether.

We came here for an educational meeting after work. The restaurant is easy to find. It’s down the street from Hotel Macdonald, along 100 Street and Jasper Avenue. We parked at the Impark lot beside the restaurant — quite pricey! We paid $ 15 for the evening. We thought it would be worth it to park there simply for the convenience. However, we later found out from the hostess, that if you park in the Stanley Milner Library parking lot, a few steps away, you can get a parking validation from Ruth’s Chris. Very good tidbit to know! As you walk into the restaurant, you’ll notice the ambience is pretty formal, classy, warm and inviting. The walls and furniture are dark mahogany colored, further adding to the luxurious surroundings. It’s like a fancy hotel. I think that you should probably dress at least business casual when you walk into this restaurant. It’s not a casual tank top, shorts and flip flops kind of environment. Our group was seated in a private dining area downstairs. Funny thing, the waitress brought us to the wrong private room! We stood there staring at this gathering of businessmen who we didn’t recognize. Once we clued in that this was the wrong room, the waitress quickly led us to the correct one. There are various sections/rooms to accommodate different sizes of groups and functions. Each area can be closed off to allow for some privacy from the other guests. This is a great place to have private parties. It was perfect for our meeting, as a projector screen was available to display the power point presentations. As for the food, we had a few selections from the Celebration Dinner menu. For a starter, I found the Lobster bisque was quite salty. It had the consistency of mushroom soup. For the meat selection, I tried the 8oz Petit Filet with a side of mash potatoes and string beans. You can’t beat being presented with meat that was visibly and audibly sizzling. The aroma was amazing. I devoured that Petit Filet! I ordered it to be cooked medium and it was tender and flavorful! As for the dessert, we each had Chocolate Sin Cake and bread pudding. Both were delicious! Not too sweet! Usually I don’t like rich chocolate cakes but I was able to eat mine easily. The bread pudding was warm, gooey and tasty. The portions were manageable. I realize that Ruth’s Chris is a chain restaurant but it’s the only one we have in Edmonton. I found that the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Overall, I like this restaurant and would recommend others to go here… once in a while. It pricey but it’s a great night out!

Truthfully the first time I went here was a couple years ago and it was really good. Great service and food. However since then I’ve been a handful of times and I feel like it gets progressively worse. This last time our waiter had no clue about the menu and wasn’t able to answer any questions. I had asked for a prosecco and he didn’t really understand and suggested a Riesling. It felt like perhaps he may have been new, which I get is stressful and intimidating. However I feel like when you go to a place like Ruth’s Chris, you go expecting a certain level of service and quality — especially when you’re paying $ 99 for a porterhouse steak. The food was still good but not good enough to go back any time soon.

I’ve never had the urge to visit Ruth’s Chris Steak House because: a) It’s expensive b) It’s a chain c) It’s expensive Alas, there is a time for everything and my two trusty co-workers, D-Bone and 0andThree, decided to check them out on a Friday for lunch. The interior is quite classy with two areas for you to dine in. We were ushered into the lounge area where our on double duty bartender took care of us. The lounge area felt very casual as a family with two kids came into the area to grab lunch. It’s nice that this place isn’t overly pretentious, although I’m sure the dining area is a whole different ball game. We went to try out their Edmonton Downtown Dining Week lunch special, which runs from March 13 to March 22, 2015. The special lets you choose one starter and entrée for $ 15.00. Now that is what I’d say is reasonable and worth the admission fee. Don’t forget you have to pay for parking($ 8.00 in the Impark lot behind Ruth’s Chris, yikes). Of course, I’m sure they do this on purpose, you have to ask for the special menu or else they will bring you the regular lunch menu(which of course is not cheap). Don’t you just love when restaurants do that to you? Aren’t you supposed to be promoting the dining week? Just another reason why Calgary’s The Big Taste is so much better. — Tomato basil — this was the soup of the day. The portion was quite small and the crew didn’t have much praise for it. — Black & bleu steak salad — sliced marinated flat iron steak with a side of chopped salad and blue cheese crumbles. OHMAN, Ruth Chris’s know how to do their steak right. A nice medium rare, super tender and cooked to perfection. I had a taste and damn girl, it was on point. — Pulled pork sandwich — house made pulled pork on a garlic herb bun with julienne fries and«super» slaw. The fries could have been crispier but the pulled pork was flavourful and tender. The coleslaw complimented the sandwich quite nicely as it was both refreshing and light. — Reuben sliders — sliced Montréal smoked beef with sauerkraut, creole mustard and julienne fries. I guess this is their take on Montréal smoked meat but if you’ve ever had the real deal, Schwartz’s, this ain’t even close brah. Oh well, I had a taste and it was decent. The smoked meat was lacking that je né sais quo though(that’s french for it was missing that Montréal secret spice/rub/ingredients). While I wouldn’t go there for a regular dinner(unless you’re a baller), there are two options to minimize the damage. Wednesday’s Date Night seems like your best bang for your buck — $ 99 for two gets you an appetizer, two entrees, two side veggies, a dessert and two glasses of wine. There is also a $ 39/person Sunday Night Traditional deal that gets you a salad, surf n turf and dessert. Not too shabby. If your a steak fanatic, then this place most likely will fulfill your beef needs. Just know in advance what you’re getting yourself into. Not bad for my first Downtown Dining week meal.

Called them for a dinner reservation for two and the lady I spoke with asked if we are dining for a special occasion or just a regular date night. I told them we are celebrating our anniversary that night and so when we arrive they have seated us in a romantic spot by the fire place. Our table had like little gold and silver confetti cut in a shape of balloon and words Happy Anniversary which was very cute. For starters we had the seared ahi tuna sauced with hints of ginger, mustard and beer. It was very tasty. My husband and I both ordered the signature steak Filet for entrée which was served sizzling on a 500 deg plate. It was tender and juicy, though I find Alberta beef more tasty compared to Corn-fed midwestern beef. Main entrée didn’t come with sides, so you have to order them separately. I had the sauteed mushrooms and my hubby had the potatoes lyonnaise. I didn’t know they come in big portions otherwise we would’ve ordered just 1 side to share. Wine pairing was good, recommended by our server who was very attentive and quite an entertainer. Very knowledgable of menu and history of restaurant, found out He has been with Ruth Chris for 10 years and worked at New York branch before coming here. Lastly, I had the must order crème brûlée for dessert, very yummy! and my husband had the trio sampler dessert which surprised me because He doesn’t like sweets, but He said it was good, of course I had to help Him finish it! :) Overall I would give 4 star. By the way, you have to walk 1 block to park :(But the good news is it’s for free if you are dining with them.

It seems like this restaurant has gone down hill. We have had«better» steak for less than half the price at other steak houses. Very disappointing. There is nothing here to justify $ 54 for a steak, $ 10 for a small side of asparagus and $ 19 for a glass of wine. It will leave you and your guests questioning how such a restaurant can stay in business. Not recommended — food quality below expectations for given pricing.

We’ve all heard the almost mythical stories of the Ruth’s Chris steak. How could they possibly be true? A steak is a steak, right? Well, when our team at work booked a celebratory dinner at Ruth’s Chris, I came face to face with the fabled unicorn: a prime cut tender steak, cooked to perfection, arriving simmering in butter. I had never tasted a steak so exquisite until that moment. In fact, I am drooling onto my keyboard as I type this review. The sides were also incredibly delicious. Served a la carte, we had asparagus with hollandaise, broccoli au gratin, sauteed mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes — all very fresh and cooked just right. The service was top-notch and food and drinks arrived promptly. Visiting Ruth’s Chris is a splurge, but you won’t be disappointed.

Finally dined here last night with my better half. There is parking behind the building or down the street. We were a little underdressed so we opted to dine in the lounge. Cozy, intimate atmosphere with rich colors …(I loved the floor to ceiling curtains), the music playing was perfect. not too loud and not to soft and the songs were dreamy and romantic. Perfect for a date night. I liked the privacy our corner booth gave us. We stared off with cocktails. 2oz for $ 14. I had the Japanese Plum Wine and he had the White Peach Side Car, both delicious! As the menu items were a la carte, we shared the mushrooms, asparagus with hollandaise sauce and the potatoes as our sides, each opting for steak, I got the petite filet(6oz) and he had the rib eye(16oz). Everything was fantastic! The food was done perfectly, practically melted in our mouths! Our stomachs were satisfied at the end of our meal without feeling overstuffed or heavy. For our whole meal the bill came to about $ 150 not including tip. To top it off, the service we received was one of the best we have had in this city. Our server, Duran, was very attentive without being overbearing or annoying(his timing was impeccable) It was truly a pleasure to have him serve us all night. Having a great server really makes or breaks a dining experience, and at Ruth Chris you will not be disappointed. All in all we had a wonderful night and will definitely be back.

Back in town to celebrate the birth of our first grandchild and decided to give Ruth’s Chris, Edmonton a second go based on the courtesy extended by manager, Jeff during last visit. The salads — both Caesar and tomato salads — were tasty and not overly large which was a happy surprise. She who must be obeyed ordered a really tasty ahi tuna served very rare and accompanied by what I believe is Ruth’s version of Ponzu. I can write that it was delicious as my lovely better half shared a few bites. My lamb chops were beautiful. Why in Alberta can I ordered charred, medium rare lamb chops but must have well done hamburger. It’s too much state-sponsored interference I tell you! Order the lamb chops when next you visit in spring. All of this was washed back with wonderful white wine from B.C. And I cannot for the life of me remember the vineyard. At any rate, this visit restored my confidence in Ruth’s Chris and so we shall return, we shall we return.

The food: fantastic. The ambiance: beautiful. Could do with a bit more space The prices: $ 50 for steak. $ 8 for each subsequent side. The service: Sloppy! Our server, Michelle, provided inferior service. She was unenthusiastic, forgetful, somewhat terrible! Conclusion: this is a great location for celebrations. Don’t let your server diminish the quality of your experience. Demand excellence, as you will probably part with over $ 80 per person.

I came here for dinner a few weeks ago for the first time. Firstly I was impressed with the vault room. We were a large group of over twenty and the service was top notch. The appetizers taste better than they look. The chicken skewers were very yummy, bruschetta was good, the bacon wrapped scallops were cooked perfectly. The cheese bread was also very good as well. For my main I had the 16 oz new York steak. It was better than the average NY as it tasted like a rib eye except the marbling was on a strip on the end. It was juicy and a the best NY steak I’ve ever had. Drenched in butter could of been a factor to this as Styrofoam would taste good with that much butter. For dessert the berries and cream was so divine. A healthy alternative for a heavy meal. I left satisfied. But the price is steep. So I would save this place for another time when its a special occasion to splurge. Overall it was good with no disappointments. A heavy meal but worth it.

STEAK! This was my first time visiting a Ruth’s Chris Steak House and I could not have been more impressed. The quality of the food as well as the experience was amazing. I ordered the Alberta AAA steak rare and it was the best steak I’ve ever had. I could nearly cut this steak with my fork. We also had quite a few of the side dishes but those are barely in my memory as I could only think about the steak. If you love steak half as much as I do, you need to check this place out. Also if you want dessert, try the delicious homemade cheese cake. It is so smooth and huge so you’ll probably want to share it with a friend. I can’t wait for an excuse to go back here.
