The Core-Kickboxing class offered here is absolutely amazing and guaranteed to deliver results both inside and out. Alternating activities in each class, instructor Derek Sadler keeps classes interesting by incorporating bag work with punching and kicking drills as well as core strengthening exercises and circuits. Expect to sweat during class and feel like you can take on the world when you leave. Cute sign above sink in change room says No Vomiting. :) Yeah, it’s hardcore, but that’s what you came for, right? Not to mention, the benefits of learning self-defense and meeting new people. The environment is friendly, welcoming and supportive. All levels of participation are accommodated in class without deterring anybody’s ability to derive the absolute best experience. I wholeheartedly recommend!

For some reason, there are very few options for fitness classes in the north side, so when WagJag had a sale for PMAA for their Zumba classes — something I’ve always wanted to try — my friend and I jumped at the opportunity. Unfortunately, we didn’t jump fast enough as the coupon was very popular and they filled up very quickly, so while we were eligible for 20 classes for this coupon, we could only sign up for their brand new Zumba Toning classes on Thursday evenings. Still, we are allowed to use the rest of our coupon for fall time classes when their new next-door fitness studio opens up, and will be allowed to choose from more than just Zumba classes, which are exciting. But I digress. PMAA is on the upper level of a strip mall in north side suburbia. The facilities don’t look«state of the art» but I don’t know if I care as long as the place is clean and the people are friendly. Their new fitness studio is meant to be brand new, so this may change soon. Anyway, our Zumba Toning teacher is co-owner Leah, and she is a BLAST! She makes the class fun and she pauses to explain moves or alters her positioning so people can have an easier time following. I think it helps that she mixes in a few new moves each week within the same routine to keep things interesting. The only thing I wish is that they’d limit the amount of people in the class to allow for more movement. I also do love seeing kids practice their martial arts while we wait for our Zumba class to start.
