MacBeth Comics and Collectibles

Stopped in at Macbeth for the first time recently and found the experience to be top notch. In terms of selection I feel it leans a little heavier towards the comics as opposed to the collectibles but I was still able to find a really nice flocked Rocket Raccoon vinyl figurine to add to my growing collection. Also the prices here are out of this world considering it’s a small specialty shop. I found out I paid about eight dollars less than what I would have paid at some bigger retailers when I got home and fired up the computer just to get a sense of exactly how good of a deal I had really gotten. The lady who rang me through was very nice and welcoming. I have been in other stores in the past and not felt welcome due to not being a «regular» but I really got the sense that these folks appreciate all their customers regardless of how deep into the comic and collectible scene they are. Such a great place and I will definitely be coming back.

The Red Shoe Crawl on 124^st brought me to MacBeth Comics and Collectibles for the first time. Colby and Erin were kind enough to send us home with swag for the kids such as free comic books, a Deadpool poster, a Justice League poster, a Daredevil button and a set of cardboard stand-​up Marvel figurines.
While we were looking around, I spotted a Walking Dead electric guitar leaning up against the wall. I showed it to the Trophy Wife and thought that would be cool to have. I just couldn’t warrant buying it because I already own enough guitars. (I teach out of my house, you see)
Fast forward a couple months later, the wife and I were going to the casino. I jokingly asked her if I could get a new guitar if I won big, and of course she agreed. (I’ve never, ever won at gambling) Long story short, I sat down at a slot machine, plunked in $ 20 and came out with almost $ 1000. Instead of shopping around or searching the internet, I wanted to support the local mom and pop comic shop where I initially saw the guitar. So, the next day we ran over to MacBeth and I became the proud owner of a new Walking Dead Peavey electric guitar.
Even though MacBeth is located downstairs of a quaint little converted office building, Colby and Erin have a nice selection of the latest comics and collectibles. They are both extremely friendly and will gladly answer any questions that you may have.
On a side note, the slot machine that I won on was a Walking Dead machine.

Not your typical Comic Book store with a couch and Foosball table! We’ll be back for sure :-)

I don’t know a lot about comic book stores, but this seems like a really cool shop! Being right on 124^th Steet across from Duchess and Relish, and beside Daravara, this a great location (despite being what seems like 2 floors underground!) Yes, the stairway down to the store is super sketchy and slummy, but one you are in the store, it is adorable! With posters, pictures and art all over the wall, a foosball table in the centre of the store, and a raised stage with drum kit at the back — too cute! The women that was working when I went in may, who be the owner, was so friendly and so nice — and she really seemed to genuinely care about this store. It seemed like her heart and soul was in this shop. And that in my book, is worth 4 stars!

Just checked this place out today! It opened up a few weeks ago, and I rather like it. I got the feeling they were still getting a few things rolling, but it definitely has a lot of potential. The people who run it are super friendly and knowledgable (and they were dressed like Harley Quinn & the Joker, which is always a bonus, lol). The selection was not as large as some other comic shops around town, but was still pretty solid given the smaller size of the shop, and there was enough there that interested me & my husband that we’ll be going to back to buy a couple things once our next paycheques come in ;) They place special orders, too, so that’s good. The atmosphere was really good– better than a lot of the other comic places I’ve been to– I’ve been to several places around town and this one my favourite atmosphere-​wise; it felt really friendly & fun. One of the owners said they’ll be starting game nights soon, and I’m really looking forward to joining in! I think this place gets an A+ for staff and atmosphere, and maybe like a B for selection. But yeah, overall I’d say it seems like a pretty cool place.
