I’ll admit this bad review is my own fault. As soon as I saw the guy microwaving my potatoes I should have immediately walked right out the door. Unfortunately, I was having a mad craving for some Shawarmas. The day old potatoes were so dry n stale, I couldn’t finish them. Our Shawarmas were dry, cold and hardly had any garlic sauce. The chicken he served was also picked up from the chicken shavings they had laying there. I don’t understand why this place has such good reviews. I only went there because I saw the rating on Unilocal. The meat should have been taking off the meat that was rotating on the cooker and the potatoes shouldn’t taste like they been hung out to dry. I am very grossed out and diasapointed. Yuck.

La Shish Taouk has the best Lebanese food that I have ever had. The Shish Taouk is the best chicken I have had. Their Lime Margarita is delicious. And their alcohol is great. And to top this review off, their desserts are delicious. Very good. The chocolate cake is so good! And their Rice Pudding is so good.

I did not get the«warm fuzzies» here. I felt like the staff was put out by helping customers and the chicken shawarma was dried out.

We had a friend visiting from out of town and she wanted Lebanese food so we ended up here due to a recommendation from a few in our party. It was great we could make a reservation for 6 on a weekday afternoon. Arriving at 5PM, there was 2 other tables occupied and we were seated by the windows. The server came to get our drink orders and we looked at the menu until everyone arrived. There were items not on the menu that were listed on the menu on the screens(as it looks like they do a take out service as well). Two of us order the chicken shawarma($ 7.50) that wasn’t listed on the menu and the rest had the plates(lamb, chicken, beef, or both chicken and beef, $ 16 – 17). While we were waiting for our food, we were able to have a chat and the noise not being too loud. One of my friends ordered kibbe(ground beef, onions, and spices in dough) and garlic potatoes and I tasted each of it and very flavourful. My shawarma pita wrap was good but there was pickled vegetables in it that was too strong a taste for me. I took some of them out and I enjoyed the wrap better. After dinner, we spent another hour or so chatting and I liked that we didn’t feel rushed. More tables were occupied and a few people using the hookah.

Been here a few times with friends and family. I really enjoy the platters which come with your choice of meat such as beef or chicken schwarma, ground lamb, or kabobs. They serve two kinds of rice, white and beef. You get some salad and a huge scoop of hummus. The prices start at $ 16.95 and up. Every table receives pita and pickled turnips and olives. Off to the side of the restaurant, there’s hot food available for take out and seemed like some of the items were not listed on the main menu. I rarely see families with children here but it’s a nice and relaxing atmosphere to enjoy with your spouse or a group of friends.

First time trying Lebanese food, with a friend who knows a lot about it. He ordered a bunch of different things that were all delicious. One caveat: the pita bread was cold(not fresh) and could very well have been store-bought.

Located authentic Middle Eastern food that’s cooked to order can be a chore. Oftentimes, you’ll find places where most of the food was pre-cooked and kept in warmers throughout the day. At times, this can still be good, but fresh food is always better. Even though there’s a pile of restaurants in this area we opted to give La Shish Taouk a try and were glad we did. The food is priced fairly. portions are respectable, service is good and most important, the flavor invites you to return. We ordered more than necessary, simply so we could try and array of dishes and grab a true scope for the place. We started with the lentil soup which impressed. With each bite it became more apparent this was made from scratch, daily, on site. You’ll enjoy a bowl, as we did. If you haven’t tried the Arayess you should. Kind of like a quesadilla, the pita is filled with kafta and other spices and tastes incredible. It was the best thing we tasted. As for the main dishes, they were solid. While the rice was only lukewarm and hard, we did enjoy the mix of chicken and beef shawarma. The meat was tender, had flavor and portions were more than enough. The same could be said for shish combo(same poor rice) which offered tender meat and extensive flavor. If you’re in the mood for Lebanese food, you can’t go wrong here. While I’m not a Hookah guy, they offer that here as well. It’s also great for large parties, too. The restaurant is large and offers indoor and outdoor seating.

Oh man. Garlic sauce + meat + rice = GOLD. Every time I’ve gone here I’ve always had the Combo Plate, and it’s delicious every time. I’m not sure if La Shish is close to authentic Middle Eastern cuisine, but it’s tasty nonetheless. If you get a chance, give it a shot!

The place used to be fun and exciting. Now it’s a little more mellow but that’s okay it’s now a quiet place to hang out at. The shisha are good and the owners really nice they take care of you if there’s something wrong. The food tastes good but not always it can go from 10 to 6 depending on the time of day you go. The place is clean and well maintained.

I tried La Shish Taouk for the first time this afternoon and I will definitely be back soon. I have been looking for a good Lebanese restaurant in Edmonton for a while now and I have finally found one. My wife and I both had the chicken shawarma and it was amazing. The portions were too large for my wife to finish so we brought some home and I just finished off the rest of hers for dinner!

The take out is reasonably good… good combo plate… however, not a good sit in place… the service needs improvement… it will be nice if the servers come over a couple of times and ask if the guests are doing ok… most servers just stand around and chat… rather than looking out for the guests… also do not order half chicken grilled… it is not properly cooked and is raw… they are good with simple and popular items in the menu, but bad with more challenging items…

I like this place because you get reeaaally good middle eastern food together with nice shisha which is rare. Their main dishes come with a garlic sause which is very yummy! Also good for a quick take out bite like shawarma. Service is always pretty fast and consistent. This location is much better than the other two because its an actual restaurant.

Wanna know where the Marshall Family loves to eat a low key family dinner… West end La Shish! The food is authentic, packed with flavour. The pita soft and fluffy, the hummus is whipped to perfection and mouth watering and the chicken schwarma is just plain addictive! We always get the tabbouleh which is wonderful, however I prefer the fattoush. The service is spot on and if you care to smoke shisha they have lovely hookah pipes. What else can I say… get go in and see for yourself!

Delicious food. Came to smoke but ate a little, I just wish they had more booths and more comfortable seating arrangements for people who plan on spending a lot more time than just eating.

Love this place, next time you’re here, see if you can spot me as I frequent often. So I agree with some of the other reviews, and this place has been both fantastic and crappy in the same breath. What started off as a hip happening place has changed over the years. It used to be a moroccan styled café with food, drinking, and dancing. A place where me and friends would hang out and play cards. Slowly the place was falling apart… but that was all before 2014 hit. In 2014, the owner shut down the restaurant and renovated. And A much needed renovation it was. New Décor, new equipment for the food, new hooka’s, hell the works. Its now better than its ever been. The portion sizes, and the quality of the food has gone up, and the hooka’s/Shisha is better than its ever been. They are still having staffing issues, but are looking to hire for the summer months, so expect service to be a little slow till things are fully settled as the renovations were just completed. All in all, if you’re looking for a chill place to do work, study, or relax with friends I would recommend this place.

Yum, YUM, yUmMy! I waffle between 4&5; Since there is no 4.5 on Unilocal,I’ll go with a solid 4. I have been twice now and both times enjoyed the platter for 2. It comes with a variety of meats(and you can specify no lamb, etc), salads, pitas, and a bunch of amazing sauces — the Garlic burns so good! The price was around $ 60 if I remember correctly but we easily had leftovers for another meal. We received slightly different items both times — one time with a plate of fries and one time without. Regardless, there was plenty of food! Next time I think we’ll try the a la carte side; it all looked fresh! There is a coupon in the Entertainment Book! I uploaded 8 pics of the items on our platter for 2 — Check ‘em out!

Since I had been so impressed by my food several weeks ago, I persuaded my husband to come here with me yesterday, and I’m sad to say the experience didn’t measure up. It appeared far busier than my weekday visit, but there seemed to be only one girl taking orders, bringing food, bringing hookahs, and taking care of bills. And I think it was just too much for her. The food, once again, was very good, but she did not bring our pickles, and I had to ask for them. When we needed 2 take-out boxes, it took so long for them to arrive, that my husband didn’t need his by then(he just kept eating his schwarma so it was gone already). If you want good service here, don’t come on Sunday around lunchtime. It seems to be lacking compared to weekdays.

I love La Shish Taouk! I have been addicted to their food for a while now and went back for lunch today on the ‘Fast Food Side’. I usually go to the ‘sit-down’ side because I generally go with larger groups, so this is my introduction to this area of their business. The lady at the till and the chef were super-courteous… almost over-the-top. It was great! I love to see people work hard and and care about their clients, definitely a motivator to return more often! I have always had consistently excellent food here, however the service has been great sometimes and not-so-great at other times. If they keep up the service I received today, I will be forced to raise my rating to 5-star; because aside from the pickles, there is nothing I have had there yet that did not satisfy. My all time fav: Beef Kebab and their Hummus; with honorable mentions going to the rice and salad which make each meal completely enjoyable! Also have had all their Kebab and Shwarma offerings, and tried their Falafel today… all great!

I have eaten numerous times at the Jasper Avenue location of La Shish, so when I saw one had opened up in the west end I was eager to try it. My opportunity came today, and I was impressed with how large and spacious the dining area is — a major change from the half dozen or so tables on 118 street. The menu is exactly the same, featuring an array of shwarma wraps and platters, kebabs, and vegetarian items freshly prepared. I had a chicken shwarma, which was loaded with chicken, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and La Shish’s famous garlic sauce. The fillings are wrapped in a pita, which is then grilled in a sandwich press. It was great. My companion had a beef schwarma and also enjoyed it, as well as the side of roasted potatoes and garlic sauce he had with his«trio:» a wrap, side of potatoes, and a can of pop for one low price. I think this was his first time trying Lebanese food. It bursts with the flavours of the Middle East. My mouth waters when I look at the menu at La Shish, because of the beautiful photographs showing all of the foods. I definitely want to come here more often and try some different meals.
