Jumbo Donair

Living In the Capilano Area I have at least 4 highly rated donair shops close by. Does this sound familiar… Dirty Windows, half the tables have grease spots on them, a few have little chunks of donair meat, at least 5 with copies of free newspapers spotted with grease spots or lettuce on them… that’s why donair is so popular as a take out item. Well, walking into this shop you will be surprised, the place is absolutely spotless, tables clean, laminated menus placed in the middle of each (and none have grease on them). The owner greets you and is genuinely pleased to serve you, I’m not sure where they get their meat from but the owner takes pride in it, so much so that he even offers up a sample as he makes your donair. It is absolutely outstanding, where ever he gets it from he is definitely ordering premium. The ingredients are all fresh, the taste superb and to say that you get great value for your money is an understatement. Only order the jumbo if you are starving or sharing as it’s easily 30 percent larger than any other jumbo. This place is first rate, from the cleanliness, to the quality and taste of the food to the owner that truly appreciates your business. If you don’t live in the area, make the trip to give it a try… you’ll probably pass at least a dozen donair places on your way but I can assure you… it will soon become a trip you make regularly.

I used to go to Charles smart donair on white it was the best around at the time. but they closed down. been checkin out other places and am in love again! Jumbo Donair was very fast and what the other reviews are true. I took a chance and ordered a regular Donair. one size up from regular. my mouth wants to go back for more but am full right now. place was clean and bright and friendly service. even got a sample of the meat as she prepared it. omg was it good! Huge assortment of toppings to choose from. fresh and flavourful. the meat filled the pita and the toppings were overflowing it. I had not finished it and was ready for more but alas I was too full for more. I shall be back! the meat was soft and tender and flavourful. just melted in my mouth. Finally a place that cares about quality and flavour and taste while keeping costs down. you want to talk about the best it rivals Vancouver too! I have one favorite place in new west but ya I come here first if I could!!! ty all other reviewers for sharing this awesome place

We came here for dinner last night and we really enjoyed our food. The customer service was good and the dining area was very clean I had a large beef salad and was able to choose whatever vegetables I wanted in it. My husband had the donair and fries. The prices are very reasonable. This is now one of our favorite places for food and we will return in the future.

Great donair and a great price, whether you crave a beef donair with sweet sauce or a chicken shawarma with garlic sauce Jumbo donair has it. For a variety of tastes this place has it. Toppings are always fresh and haven’t found a better tasting donair on the south side. Highly recommend checking this donair out!

Best donair place I’ve been to in Edmonton, hands down. Service was so good that it made me a little emotional.
When I mentioned that it was my first time visiting, they offered a sample of their beef prior to taking my order. It was perfectly seasoned. They melted the cheese right onto the pita and definitely didn’t skimp on the meat and toppings (which were laid out really well for you to choose from). As the meat was sautéed on the grill, they asked about my day and made friendly conversation with me.
I am bringing everyone I know to this establishment. All my dreams came true tonight.

I will join the chorus. This places isn’t just good. This may well be the very best donair shop in Edmonton.
I have been on the hunt for quality, well-​priced donairs for some time. While doings so I’ve been holding off on posting reviews as I want to make sure that I’m not overrating one when the next best donair is around the corner. I think it’s time to start the reviews, now that I’ve tasted Jumbo Donair. The prices are fair when looking at the menu, similar to other restaurants, but turns out the prices are absolutely a steal when you taste the food. After finishing my regular beef donair with sweet sauce and all the toppings I found myself scouring the packaging to see if I missed a piece of beef. I seriously contemplated drinking the left over sauce. It was that good. The array of toppings is immense and the flavour with each one of them combined together, at least for my palate, was exquisite. The chicken looked tantalizing. I am a beef fan but this is the first place I have seen where the chicken actually looks moist. Maybe next time because there will be a next time.

I’ve been to most Donair shops in the SE of Edmonton and this is hands down the best. Owner and staff are friendly and talkative. Toppings are great and fresh with an amazing selection. The meat is flavorful and unique, where as most other shops pretty much all taste the same. Prices are unbeatable, the Jumbo is enough for 2 meals but so good you have to finish it.

My son LOVES this place whenever he wants to go for a donair he asks for this place! Prices are very reasonable and you get your money’s worth in food! So tasty and delicious! Highly recommended!

Fantastic food and great service. The donair is the best I’ve had in Alberta and the platter was also great. Portions are big and the food is fresh.
We had our hungry toddler with us and the owner was very thoughtful in offering us a little meat for her while the main dishes were being prepared.
It was one of our best restaurant experiences in recent memory. I hope they do well.

Best donair in town… the jumbo donair is big enough to feed a small village… it tastes so good that you can’t stop eating until it is finished.

Not only are the donairs here amazing, but the owners and staff are SO friendly and seem genuinely happy to serve you.
There are a lot more variety in the toppings here, they serve banana peppers to pickled turnip! The owner is very proud of his pickled turnip and they’re pretty yummy!
We usually pick up two donairs and a poutine to share among us, and we are SO full after.
The meat is not your typical donair meat. The owner is also super proud of how tender and flavourful the meat is! It definitely is different and a lot softer. It’s also a lot less salty than other places.
And even after the guy there gives us little baggies of extra toppings incase we decide we need more toppings — even though he literally packs the donair with what you want. How nice!
I actually think that I eat more donairs by living close to this place… going there is such a pick me up because the staff are so nice it instantly puts you in a good mood.

Our new favourite Donair place! The shawarma I had was excellent — best I have had since we were in Israel. Selection of toppings is great, he makes all his own delicious sauces, and my son’s Donair was truly worthy of the name «Jumbo»!
The owner is very friendly and provides quick and excellent service. I would recommend it to anyone! Tucked in behind McDonald’s, it is a great find!

The donair itself is more of a three-​star production prior to being offered a wide range of toppings, some very friendly service, and a clean dining room. Those three things bump the donair offered by Jumbo Donairs up one more star to a four-​star experience. The men’s toilet needs a great deal of love and attention, but I’d imagine that the owner of Jumbo Donairs or his landlord will get around to sorting that out. This guy will do alright in this location, I’d imagine, provided the rent isn’t too high. Recommended.
