Average food, lousy service, dated location. Don’t bother going if you don’t speak the«language». After we ordered our food we never saw a server again. Our group would have ordered drinks but no one was interested in asking us. We definitely were not made to feel welcome. The location hasn’t changed in ten years. We had to call someone over to get the bill. Last time we go there.

A great place for dim sum. The food was fresh and hot and the service was quick and efficient. There was ample parking also. The mango pudding was a great way to end the meal. The staff were very friendly. Definitely going back again in the future.

Love the dim sum! One of my favorite spots for dim sum. Definitley recommend going earlier as the line gets long. Dinner menu is not the greatest, at all. Servers are always very rude.

Went here on a sunday with a large party of 12. Good from the beginning with seating in the VIP room. Our American relatives were happy with this. After that, lots of carts with lots of variety. Topped up the tea water regularly and cleared the empty plates occasionaly but often enough. 12 people ate to the fullest for $ 165. Good dim sum.

Always very good food, very consistent. The pricing is very good as well, so far the best Dim Sum I’ve found in town, all things considered, staff are good but none of them speak any English(no big deal, I guess) I always come back!!! Curried squid, shrimp dumplings, shark fin dumplings are some of the best!

It is hard to find good dim sum in Calgary. Fortunately, dim sum places abound in Edmonton. Jumbo has proved to be a very good choice. Lots of food and regular carts. The BBQ pork buns were great. Keep up the good work, Jumbo!

I went to Jumbo today for the first time in ages. One of my early memories of Jumbo is me attending a wedding several years ago and catching the garter and my aunt the bouquet. I didn’t recall what the food tasted like, but enjoyed my experience. Parking can often be a challenge at Jumbo depending upon the hour of day, but there are a number of options. Today’s experience was a great one. Prices are fairly reasonable and the staff seem very eager to please from management down to servers. There was plenty of food and no real wait for tea and water or any food. Portion sizes are reasonable and the taste of everything was excellent. Soo mai was very good, fried shrimp with mayo, rice rolls, and sticky rice all very tasty. Shrimp dumplings were succulent and beef with green pepper also very nice. Our bill was handled very smoothly and done at the table as opposed to having to bring it up to pay, which was lovely. We stayed for a while after to chat business and more and the staff didn’t ask us to leave or seem bothered which was welcomed. They also thanked us on our way out of the office. I was too hungry to take any pics, but I’ll be back. Highly recommend this as a dimsum option in Edmonton, especially in the West :)

This is one of my go-to spots for Dim Sum in Edmonton. You have to be there right for 11:30am to experience the dim sum Tradition or usually after 12:30 they will let you order which items you want instead of viewing them on the trolley. However their dim sum is usually on the greesy side — that’s why I took off one star

Whenever my grandparents are in town from Vancouver, my family always seems to end up here for Dim Sum. Their rotation of food is pretty consistent and the ladies with their carts seem to walk by frequently. It’s always busy on weekends so be prepared to wait. Love their egg tarts… except when they run out =(so get them while you can. Their siu mai(pork & shrimp dumplings) & haw gao(shrimp dumpings) are decent, as are their rice rolls with shrimp, beef or bbq pork. Their spare ribs with black bean sauce are excellent and fall off the bone. Their lotus-wrapped sticky rice packages are pretty large. Overall a decent place for dim sum in my opinion.

Jumbo is one of our favorite restaurants. The hot and sour soup and the deep fried shrimp rolls are a couple must haves

Jumbo seems to have turned into our family’s «go-to» choice for Dim Sum. It’s a great place to take a first timer. The staff is pretty good about keeping the chicken feet covered up so you don’t gross out your guests! Nothing fancy here. You are seated, poured tea and given your chit sheet, the rest is up to you. They have a wide variety of both the steamed and fried items. We have lots of favourites; if you like squid, try it here curried. The food travels by your table on carts. The only thing that doesn’t are the dessert selections. The Mango Pudding here is quite tasty. You will need to stop one of the staff members and ask for the desserts to be delivered to your table. We find the pricing reasonable. We feed four of us for about $ 60 including tip. The only reason I did not give five stars was the customer service. It can really be hit and miss. There is a private parking lot, but on the weekend this place is crazy busy. You may end up parking on the street in front.

My family has been coming to Jumbo Dim Sum for about 5 years now and they are our go to location. Our go tos always include sticky rice, beef rice rolls, pan fried pork dumplings, steamed pork buns, curried squid(my fave), sticky rice, onion cakes and spring rolls(for the chitlins) and then a couple surprise items each week. A side note about the curried squid — it is my absolute favourite dish to order here and the sauce is excellent over sticky rice but if it goes round and round the room on the cart too long it can get kinda rubbery, so be sure to get it fresh or when it first comes out. The egg tarts tend to disappoint me here which is a bummer because they are one of my very favourite things in the world. Getting a table here can be tough at times as they are quite busy which is of course a good sign! My kids love sitting by the tanks of crabs and lobsters which keep them entertained throughout the meal. They can accomodate large groups here with a separate eating area as well as LARGE wooden circle table tops they lay down atop the smaller tables. Service is quick and the prices are moderate compared to other Dim Sum places in town. We’ve also ordered take out for dinner and unfortunately, both times items were either missing or wrong upon arriving home and when calling to initially order or try to rectify, language was a barrier. So, my experience with takeout is definitely disappointing but the Dim Sum keeps me coming back for sure. See you soon, Jumbo!

After dining at Good Buddy and the Cha For Tea Palace, I wasn’t terribly optimistic about options for Dim Sum in Edmonton. But I decided to try out Jumbo on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a hole in the wall, but the prices are reasonable for dim sum, and the dishes taste as delicate as they should. They don’t taste frozen, whereas every other piece of dimsum I’ve eaten in Edmonton has. It’s not Vancouver/Richmond dim sum, but we can’t really expect that here.

Went here during the week for the dim sum. We ordered a bunch of dishes — no cart service when we went. Standard tasting dim sum — nothing outstanding. Service was OK, the server was slightly impatient with our ordering — no biggie — we just ordered less. Upset stomach by 2 of us later on.

I know a good dim sum place when I taste them. Jumbo Dim Sum just didn’t quite make it to my top list of recommended Dim Sum spot. At least, not my favourite anyway. It was very packed when we went there. A full house usually makes your heart take lots of leaps of excitement which also meant that the expectation is high on the plate. Carts took a while to get to us — the décor was old — Dim sum choices was alright — let’s just say I had better. The bbq pork rice roll was too thick and the pork pastry wasn’t as fresh as we had expected it to be. It was nothing to write home about.

Not bad, but there’s better dim sum joints in Edmonton. Everything was average on taste — about right but not wow quality. The shrimp dumplings were a little on the mushy side and the pork dumplings were a little greasy. Freshness seemed to be lacking. Jumbo seems a little smaller than some of the other dim sum places in town. Service is on par as far as dim sum goes — quick, efficient and at least none of the carts passed us by. Still, I think I’ll stick with Urban China, you can never go wrong there.

The only place I had been for Dim Sum prior to this was Urban China, so i suppose you could say the bar was set a bit high. But man, was a pleasantly surprised! First of all, I believe the standard for most places is the shrimp dumpling. If you can’t make a good one, your other foods probably aren’t up to par… They’re shrimp dumplings were fabulous! I ate all of them to myself(no regrets). Forgive me if I offend but I won’t be able to remember the proper names for most dishes. So I shall describe them. We ordered the shrimp dumplings, steamed pork in sticky rice, Vietnamese spring rolls, pork buns, steamed beef balls, beef dumpling and a steamed square thing that had pork in it, I believe. It was white. And yummy. All in all, our visit was wonderful food wise though my only complaint would be the service. Food was speedy, don’t get me wrong. But the woman who was serving us was kind of rude and short. She didn’t seem pleased with any of the customers there, which is a shame. A smile is really all it takes. We will return as I constantly crave good dim sum. I recommend it if you don’t want to deal with the cramped seating and hellish parking at urban china!

Despite the obvious saltiness of some of the dishes(which is common when your clientele are mostly Westernized and not accustomed to certain flavours) the food was good. There is a menu if you don’t enjoy trolley serving, which happens to be my favourite. It’s great to be able to pick and choose based on sight and mood. The price is reasonable, the service quick and the tea is always yummy. The language barrier is not an issue. It does not take bilingualism or multilingualism to nod yes or no or point to a dish you’d like. I just wish more people would show respect when they come to this(and other) places. Wearing hats indoors, licking their fingers, shouting instead of merely talking, being rude when the waitress doesn’t understand you and announcing to the restaurant loudly that you want to order some«normal» food. Perhaps taking yourself to a McDonalds would be adequate for you. Over all. This is a great go-to if you can bear the occasional eater with a dash of ignorance. It isn’t spectacular but I don’t know of anywhere better to be honest. I always enjoy ha gow, jouk, sticky rice, pork buns, chicken feet, dumplings of any sort and the mango pudding to name a FEW. Always remember, a good sign is that there are a lot of Asian people eating here not non-Asians. Mmmm.

Jumbo is my go to Dim Sum. We’ve tried quite a few and none have compared to the value and variety you’ll find here. Stand outs include beef rice rolls, sticky rice, and fried pork dumplings. Come early or be prepared to wait. You know it’s good, when you are surrounded by Asian families gathering around the communal table for several hours of eats on a weekend morning. Bonus: lobsters and fish entertain children for hours if you can score a table near them.

Jumbo is great for dim sum. The carts come by frequently with a good variety of dishes. In 20 minutes you will most likely have all the dishes u wanted. I like that you don’t have to compete with the table beside you for food BC there is plenty for everyone!!! The dishes are all good, not great but will satisfy your craving for dim sum in the west end. For two people the price is usually $ 20 plus tip. So it is pretty cheap too. If the food was better than average it would get five stars.
