This place is awesome! Live music, bunch of VLTs, 3 pool tables and incredible service! A long time friend told me I needed to check this place out so I did about a month ago and I’ve been back every weekend since. The food deserves it’s own paragraph, I found out the chef has been there for 14 years! You know what that means, quality food cooked with pride consistently. Pizza, STEAK, you name it, he takes it to another level. You owe it to yourself to check this place out!

This could be my new neighbourhood pub! With friends visiting from Calgary, we wanted a casual spot to catch up, hang out, and satisfy our hunger and thirst. Another friend had recommended JR to us a while back but we still hadn’t been, so we thought it would be a good night to finally check it out. The décor reminds me a lot of Pub 1905. Traditional pub kind of stylings — not modern or flashy or good-looking, just comfortable. It was actually quite busy, first for World Juniors hockey(up on the big screen), then later on for live music. We found two tables to push together and rounded up 7 chairs for the lot of us. Our waitress came over quickly and she was fantastic the rest of the night, even as it got very busy. Here’s where it gets even more awesomer: double Long Island Ice Teas were on special for Thirsty Thursdays — $ 6.50 for a double. So… I had three. End of that story. I wasn’t planning on eating, but our friends’ pizzas looked awesome and my husband’s burger smelled amazing. I caved and ate an entire plate of potato skins by myself!(The diet doesn’t officially start till 2012, so whatever.) With pretty good pub fare, cheap drinks, big TVs, and excellent service, this pub ranks top notch in my books. The only bummer: the live band that played after the hockey game was good, but loud. Made catching up with out-of-towners difficult.
