Specialties

The Foundation of Administrative Justice (FOAJ) is a training institution dedicated to education of the administrative tribunal community, its appointed members, staff, advocates and stakeholders. FOAJ is the only organization exclusively providing education in administrative tribunal matters for tribunal members and staff by those who have been in the role. Our training includes, Decision Making, Decision Writing, Interpreting Legislation, Case Management Practices, Evidence, Effective Hearings and more.

By taking one of our courses you and your colleagues benefit from the experience and expertise from industry professionals. Our training is becoming known as a hiring requirement for agencies, boards and commissions.

We can help you be more effective in your work place and further your career through professional development. Many employers use our CTAJ Certificate program as a hiring credential.

We operate as not-for-profit society.

History

Established in 1998.

In 1998 — 1999 CCAT organized a ‘Train the Trainer’ (in Saskatoon) for the Prairie Provinces (AB, SK, MB) so those provinces could begin offering their own admin tribunal training. The project had multiple partners:

* CCAT contributed $ 5000.00 to pay for the meeting room and the trainer costs.

* BCCAT contributed its Foundations of Administrative Justice course materials and instructor manual, along with 3 of their instructors who trained the prairie instructors.

* AB, SK and MB tribunals (8 – 9 per province) partnered to pay the wages and expenses of 8 — 9 instructors from each province, who would take the Train the Trainer to become instructors for the Foundations course in their own provinces.
