Update. Sherol no longer works here since she has moved on to open her own business. My husband comes in regularly for his hair cuts since it is in a convenient location for him, it’s easy to get an appointment and the price is good.

I’ve been going to Sheree for quite a few years now and it wasn’t until I found her that I was actually happy with my hair.
She’s AMAZING with color and also knows EXACTLY what will work with my hair in terms of the cut. I have thin hair but it’s also naturally curly and has a mind of it’s own. Sheree always makes sure I have a great cut that looks good when I straighten my hair but will also work if I wear it curly!
I love that I can get a «high end look» at a reasonable price! She also has great styling products in stock and always knows what will be the best products for my hair type.
Appointments are booked appropriately without over lap so I’m never stuck waiting for my turn. I know I can get in and out without delay.
I often have strangers comment on my hair cut and I owe it all to the wonderful Sheree!

I have been coming to see Angie exclusively since 2005… So, close to 10 years.
I recently (summer of 2014) had my hair cut shorter, but up to then had very long, curly, thick, coarse hair… I have had other hairstylists over the years who have been intimidated enough that they have simply refused to work on it. Angie worked with this difficult hair type with ease.
Angie has done everything imaginable to my hair; including chemical processes, colors, streaks and highlights and of course… the ever important cuts — the scourge of anyone who has long hair and has experienced going in for a «trim» and coming out with 6 inches of hair gone, or damage from a stylist who gets overzealous and decides to thin your thick locks with a razor, effectively ruining your long hair for years to come. That sort of mistake simply does not grow out of long hair in a few short months.
I guess, by the fact that I will only let Angie touch my hair, and have done so for the past 10 years should be pretty clear that I think she is a fantastic hairstylist, and possesses years of experience that can only be gleaned by hours of standing behind a chair.
When the day came this past summer that I decided that it was time for my «crowning glory» to go… I simply took her in a photo of a cut that I liked, and asked her, «Do you think my hair will do this?». I knew that I could trust Angie to tell me whether or not this was a suitable hairstyle for my particular hair type and face shape. An hour later I walked out with that exact haircut… an adorable little wash and go, shoulder length «doo» that does not even require any styling beyond scrunching in some curling cream and running out the door.
I used to get comments and compliments on my huge head of long curly hair all the time… I think I actually get more comments and compliments on it now.

Note to those with: FINE, STRAIGHT HAIR.
I went to this salon based on a recommendation from someone who has gone here for about 8 years. This person’s hair is unlike mine. I have fine straight hair.
I brought along pictures of my hair when it is styled along so that the stylist (it says hair mechanic extraordinaire on the business card) could see what it normally looks like.
To be fair, I had gotten a haircut a week earlier by someone at another salon. It wasn’t actually much of anything that could be called a cut. There was soo little hair cut off, that I felt as though I hadn’t actually received a haircut.
But, the hair was still long enough to reproduce what I showed the Essentials stylist in my pictures.
So we discussed my hair ‘issues’ and then she went to work. When she had finished styling my hair it looked ‘much better’ than what I had gotten at the first salon (not Essentials).
But, the next day I wondered why my hair looked so ‘choppy’. Then I washed my hair and let it dry and noticed the many, many layers of hair and how choppy it looked. There were some layers that were so short that I was shocked.
This was not how I arrived at Essentials, and that is not what my pictures showed.
I actually cried about my haircut. It will now probably take me 6 – 8 months to regrow the chop that I got.
This stylist also told me that she takes pride in her work, and haircuts are her calling card.
I did leave a message at the salon, but have not received any message or had the opportunity to speak with the stylist to understand why my hair was cut this way.
I returned to my original stylist who gives me awesome haircuts (but cost a pretty penny). She was most gracious in her review of my haircut, as she is ultra-​polite.
The original stylist could not understand the reason for cutting the hair the way it was and commented, ‘there are a LOT of layers and it will take some months to grow them out’. My original stylist then barely cut any hair so that the layers would blend in.
The Essentials stylist has probably been cutting hair for close to 30 years. I would imagine that during this time they might have learned that straight hair needs to be cut in a certain way so that layers/​sections blend in well.
There are 3 stylists, and I am not referring to Sheree or Breanne.
I will say that the stylist I saw was friendly, polite and I felt comfortable with her, but in the end the haircut is the determining factor.
For those with fine straight hair, do your homework. Ask questions about how many courses they have gone to and what they have learned about cutting and blending straight hair.
Find a stylist who has gone to some courses and keeps up-​to-​date on technical aspects of hairstyling. The stylist I saw made a comment in regards to a particular ‘brand’ of trained hairstylists. She told me that they go to a ‘free course’ so that they can be persuaded to buy the «brand’s» products.
What is in fact true is that the courses tend to be one week in length depending on what the course is, and there is a fee for them. Those who continually update their skills — this can be seen in the quality of the haircut.
FINE, STRAIGHT HAIR OWNERS BEWARE.

This salon is a diamond in the rough. FANTASTIC knowledgable staff and great prices. The location is a bit unusual but once you step inside this warm inviting and very clean salon you won’t even realize you’re in a strip mall. Angie was fantastic and not one time was there an awkward moment. I was offered a drink by Sheree (sorry if I have your name wrong) as soon as I sat down on their comfortable couch in the back where hair stylists work their magic. I wasn’t pushed into buying gimmicky hair products but was offered to try a few different products before making a decision. I felt the stylist, Angie, listened and understood my concerns while still giving her input and did an amazing job on my hair. I have natural red hair and every single cut shows and it didn’t matter how many years experience my previous stylists had, they still couldn’t blend so each cut still showed. In past years I’ve paid anywheres from $ 15-​$ 300 on a hair cut. Angie is by far the best and she doesn’t charge $ 300! AWESOME prices and fantastic service. I will be making this my regular salon for all hair and esthetic needs. THANK YOU!!!

I found out about essentials because I bought a deal there to have a cut and color. I was very impressed by their level of service. The owner did my hair and she was really nice. It was easy to book an appointment and she did an awesome job on my hair! I would recommend them to anyone!
