Elite Event: Mata Hari’s Movie Night at Naanolicious

This was my very first Elite Event. What a wild ride!
I would love to get the name of the Henna artist — her work was breathtaking!
The singer was really good as well. He actually sang our wedding song, which was touching. We were sitting by the speakers so it was a bit loud
I was blown away by the generosity of Naanolicious, the food just kept on coming! I have been there as a customer before and loved the food. It is different in a tasting situation though, as you get to try so much more! The food was all fantastic and I will have some new favourites to try at my next visit.
The Bolly-​D Dance Fitness is an incredibly fun idea to get back in shape. I am a fan of the genre and it always looked SO complicated to learn. After our lessons to «screw in the light-​bulb» and «pat the dog», it is not so intimidating any longer. Hopefully she did well on «Dragon’s Den» and can bring Bollywood style fitness to Edmonton in a big way.
Thanks to Jenny and her lovely Brand Ambassadors. The evening went smoothly thanks you your help! It was a small space so it was nice to be served at the tables. Very efficient ladies!

To say that this was an awesome event is an understatement. Naanolicious had fine cuisine and drinks. The Indian cultural elements were the high notes. And it lived up to the hype. Nothing else to say, I’m speechless!

What a great Elite Event to start off 2014! Thanks to Jennie, Naanolicious and Unilocal for a tasty and super fun night! The Indian theme was so well executed, from the Bollywood dancing, to henna tattoos, and many people coming dressed for the occasion.
Naanolicious took the opportunity to show us everything they’ve got, from more traditional dishes such as pakora and curried chicken to fusion dishes like naan pizza and Indian nachos. Seriously, the food and drinks did not stop coming! We had the chance to sample many dishes from appetizers to mains to desert, and plenty if drinks as well. I preferred the more traditional dishes, but it was fun to try fusion dishes which you wouldn’t normal think of, like the naan pizza. In terms of drinks, the chai with the liqueur was the perfect warm up drink for a cold evening! Despite the big crows, presentation of the food was also pleasing to the eye, with thinks like birds carved out if apples, or roses cut out of tomatoes as centrepieces to some plates.
I would like to give a lot of credit to he Unilocal staff who did an amazing job if ensuring that all of the attendees were well taken care of, and tried to get everyone involved in the night’s activities. It was also a great opportunity to chat with other Unilocalers over the shared dishes.
Thanks again to Jennie our CM for organizing such a great event that really embraced the Indian theme of Naanolicious! As well, thank you to the restaurant for providing such a great selection if food for us to try. I will definitely be back!

So much fun! Haven’t been able to make an Elite event in a while but am so glad I made it to this one. The party was going from beginning to end, and our group really enjoyed it!
I was surprised by the sheer amount of food that was served to our tables. It seemed like a never-​ending stream of dishes. We sampled everything from salmon and cucumber salad, curry fish balls, naan pizza, spiced chicken and nachos. The naan pizza and nachos were a bit unexpected, but I guess it gave things a fusion twist. Still delicious, so no complaints here! The chai shooters were also equally delicious, made even better when mixed with shots of liqueur!
Wonderful service through the night, everything kept coming and going from our table with smooth precision and friendly service.
There was absolutely no shortage of entertainment at this event, with all the music, dancing and even Henna art. I think the fun really started when everyone was on the dance floor. Great job with the Bollywood moves, Jennie M. and George H.
Our CM Jennie M. did a fantastic job putting this all together, it really was a great night. Thanks to Jennie, all of our hosts and the staff at Naanolicious for a wonderful Elite event!

Another great Unilocal Elite Event. Food and drinks at Naanolicious were, well delicious and despite the venue name there was a lot more to the food than just Naan bread. I loved the spiced chicken and the rice. Just when you thought the food was done the great chefs at Naanolicious would bring out something else. Also loved the drinks, and I will be looking for that Rum liquor at my local liquor store — who knew rum went so well with chai. There was lot’s of entertainment including some Bollywood dance lessons by Bollywood Beats, free henna tattoos, and general merriment with fellow Unilocalers. After there was a movie screening of The Invisible Woman at the Princess Theatre. A very fun night overall and I’m excited to find out about the next Unilocal Elite Event.

You know it’s going to be a good experience when your host is ready for a Bollywood dance off and does indeed show that she’s ready for a picture deal when she’s dancing it up to some sweet Indian tunes.
Love the fact that our Elite event is at an ethnic restaurant. While waiting for my date to get her henna tattoo (what a great idea!), I looked at the menu and I must say, I will definitely come back to try the butter chicken poutine. How can you resist that description!?!
Got a chance to try the New Asian Village beer which was a treat as it was a different taste. The one that takes the cake was a hot chai tea with a shot of liquor/​spiced rum. Who knew it would go so velvet-​y smooth?
Naanolicious graciously gave out helpings of wonderful dishes of a cold salad dish (the cucumber salmon was quite good), coconut shrimp cucumber shooter (points for presentation and creativity!), battered fried mushrooms which had a great kick, a FANTASTIC curried chicken and spiced biryani.
One of my favorite moments aside from talking to fellow Unilocalers had to be watching some classic and modern Indian dancing and the ability to ask some questions regarding to Indian culture. Never knew they partied so hard for weddings (2 weeks!!) or some of the climates of India itself.
Compliments to the staff of Naanolicious for being so accommodating and quick service. Our Unilocal staff were equally up to the staff with smiles around; thanks Breann, Jasmine, and Gabby!
And to top it off, we got a free screening at the Princess Theater next door! It was nostalgic to see the old theater vibe and I’m glad it’s still around!
And of course, our CM who came up with such a cool idea and organizing another fun-​filled yet educational night! So glad I am exposed to establishments outside of my comfort zone!
Pro-​tip: I never knew Bollywood men actors with muscular shaven chests would make our CM weak in the knees!

The New Asian Village Lager did not disappoint! Personally, I adored the smooth Golden Sands XO Spiced Rum! Luna rum liquor paired divinely with the chai!
For dessert we had Cold Chocolate Dipped Galub Jamun & cake (a lemon square and a brownie). This is the first cold Galub Jamun I’ve ever had!
