Being close to my house this is where I go to look for video games. When it isn’t around the holidays this place isn’t too busy and I’m often helped quickly. I was looking for the game Marvel vs Capcom 3 Fate Of Two Worlds and they didn’t have any in stock. Rather than saying sorry and sending me on my sad little way, the cashier said, «Wait, let me work my magic…» she then found me two other EB locations that did have copies left of the game. It was much appreciated.

If you need to go to an EB games, go to Southgate. While they have a large selection of used games at this location, their customer service is seriously lacking. Today I went in to grab a couple of gifts for some of my friends upcoming birthdays. Being a gamer myself, I can navigate the store pretty well. However, if I wasn’t familiar with the store, their lack of customer service would have resulted in me leaving without making a purchase. The staff didn’t greet me at all, didn’t offer me assistance, and were slow about processing transactions. I waited over 10+ minutes to pay for my items, and I honestly should’ve gone elsewhere. I could have gotten the same items at a multitude of different stores, probably for cheaper. Also, EBs trading policy is difficult, and the value that they give you for games is very low. Then they turn around and sell a game for $ 65.99, used, when it is $ 69.99 new. Why buy a used game, when you could buy it new for an additional $ 5.00? Head somewhere else to fill your gaming needs.

Unfortunately, the selection of used games at this locations is usually bigger than the selection of new titles. Being against used games sales, as the publisher, designer, and developer get none of the money from thee sales, this makes me sad. However, when they do have decent new game stock, I can usually find something I want to get. Being a girl, the service here stinks, though. I’ve gone in to get a game for myself and had comments like, «Wow, your boyfriend sure is lucky!» I don’t even correct them anymore. It’s not worth the incredulous stares. News flash: girls play games. Get over it.

I am not a gamer but my husband is, so I often find myself at EB Games. This place is gamers’ paradise. Here you can purchase new and pre-owned games for Wii, DS, PS2, PS3 and Xbox360. You can also trade in your used games. On the shelves there are thousands of games of all genres: from sports and action, to shooter, role playing and strategies. All games are neatly displayed, so it is easy to locate what you are looking for. The guys who work here are very helpful.

All EB games are usually good for one thing. Nickel and diming the consumer to death. Yes, it has a good selection of games for all the consoles but what ticks me off about this chain and its affiliates Gamestop etc. are the underhanded tactics used when it comes to trading in games. There seem to be a lot of conditions about trading in your software and there is very little value you get for your game. You would be better off selling your games via amazon, eBay or a number of other services where you would get more money for them rather than giving them away at these establishments. Like anything check the fine print before you trade anything in.

EB Games offers a wide selection of video games whether it be for yourself or others. They carry a lot of hard to find games and pre-owned titles are available for people who want to save a bit of money. You can also trade in your own games as well and get store credit to purchase new games. The only downside is that they do not give you a lot of trade-in credit for your games unless it is brand new. It is a bit confusing having Gamespot in the same mall, as they are essentially the same company. On the bright side, if one doesn’t carry a title you are looking for, you can always try the other out. The staff at this location are very knowledgeable in their field, and you can often overhear them talking about the latest video games with their colleagues. However, the staff are not always courteous… sometimes they appear just busy to avoiding talking with customers, or they seem unfriendly. This is not always consistent as the staff always changes. Regardless, this is a good location to try and find that game you are looking for, particularly if it is an older title.
