This place is literally the best! At first I was kind of hesitant because it’s vegan… I thought things wouldn’t really agree with my taste buds; since all i really eat is meat. When I first got here, the atmosphere was already bright, and happy! Really nice and beautiful people! The first thing I got was this BEETBERRYBOWL, it was such a beautiful bowl, it had raspberries, bananas, blueberries, flaxseed etc… It was a smoothy in a bowl basically, and it was soo gooood! Highly recommended The second thing i got was the chicken wings. At first i thought«HOWTHEHELL… like how» when i got it, i thought it was going to taste like tofu with some other stuff. But it actually tasted like Chicken… Like it was good! It was fantastic! Third meal i got was called THELAWRENCEBURGER, and of course it is soo good! Actually passed my expectations, this Vegan burger was to die for. The patty had the consistency of meat, and the toppings were just perfect! Mosaic Café has really made my day! Their food, the customer services and the atmosphere was just perfect! HIGHLYRECOMMENDED

This is perhaps the hottest spot right now for vegetarians and vegans. The tremendous amounts of natural lighting, the unique mosaics on the walls, and the quaint lighting combines to create a very nice space to exist in. I chose the portobello quinoa risotto, which was essentially quinoa doused in coconut cream. It was very good and really quite spicy! My friend chose the laughing monkey hot pot. Upon receiving her meal, she remarked that the quality had fallen since her last visit only a few weeks ago(the aftertaste had changed). This lack of consistency was concerning but she still enjoyed her meal. As well, we mentioned that we were in a rush and the staff were very accommodating and served us our two dishes within 2 The peanut cupcake was beautiful and delicious. The icing was excellent(flaky on the outside and smooth and creamy on the inside) but the actual cake was a touch dry. For now, it’s 4 stars due to the apparent lack of consistency and the dryness of the cupcake. I’ll have to visit a few more times and then re-evaluate my review.

On the Hunt for Vegan food since my sister decided on becoming full vegan, we decided to hit up Café Mosaics. We haven’t been here since before the Renos so it would be a nice inviting change. The place looked sooo much better than before! The bright open space and big windows won me over. So we took a table by the windows of course :) Our server came with the menu and it says all day breakfast! I love breakfast but today I needed something a bit more hearty. We decided on the veggie chicken wings to start and I had the skinny cow bowl, my sister ordered the Phở. I made sure our server knew about my severe allergies to peanuts. The chicken wings came out first. It looked just like veggie chicken lol the dipping sauce was just yummy… There was a vegan ranch dressing which had a sort of grit to it but still very Delicious and a plum sauce which was also quite good. We finished it so fast. When our mains came I was so shocked at how big the Phở was but obviously my sister demolished the entire bowl and did not wait for me. When mine came you can still see the sizzling from the clay bowl which continued to sizzle throughout the entire meal. I’m going to be honest and say that it was difficult to eat because I kept on burning my tongue, lips and all the insides of my mouth. But … Boy was it YUMMY! Ya who cares if the insides of my mouth was raw with pain, as long as the food was tasty it just didn’t seem to matter until later that night… We were both so full after the meal but we kept looking at the desserts that were displayed in front of the counter, we just had to have a cupcake each. I had the Strawberry and my sister had the one with peanuts. I found the cupcakes dry and very cold but that’s ok we had the last of the last. The only minor problem I had was that I had a small allergy reaction and I believe it was from the cupcake. And was probably because the cupcakes could have been cross contaminated with each other. It was a minor reaction thank goodness I didn’t have to bring out that vicious epi pen. Overall it was a great experience, our server was awesome along side with our meal. Definitely heading back there soon.

I want to give this place a five star rating for the fact that the veggie burger was just sooo amazing but the waitress was not the friendliest, and we ran out of water and never did get a refill when the other people beside us did. I will definitely go back though the food is good and the décor is on point.

The food was pretty good, nothing to write home about but maybe that’s just what I had. What I didn’t like was the service, first off it was pretty difficult to get help, even when waving people down. I do, however, wonder if it was just where we were sitting, as it was kind of off in the corner, so I’m not angry about that. However what really upset me is that they have a forced tip for large groups, which 7 people apparently is, and that concept is fine, but what I don’t like is that no one bothered to even mention it to us until right at the end. I ended up paying unanticipated extra money for decent already overpriced food and mediocre service. Which is fine, I just would have liked to have been told before ordering as I likely would’ve gotten something way cheaper, or nothing at all

Café Mosaics is a beautiful and comfortable please for a meal or just a snack that, while they are a vegetarian and vegan restaurant, offers a huge food and drink menu that anyone can appreciate! I met a friend here for dinner and I couldn’t get over the size of the menu. For drinks you have everything from a huge Café selection to wine and beer, spirits and more. And don’t forget about all of their juices! And the food menu is huge. Even though I’m a meat eater and lover, I still enjoyed everything I had. The Mac and cheese(vegetarian is what I had but there is a vegan offering) was super hearty and warm and yummy. I also had toona tacos to start and they were crispy and tasty, served with an avocado sauce that was perfect! And I brought home a chocolate peanut butter cupcake for the Hubba Hubby and it was to die for(obviously I had to test it to make sure it was good for him). I would go back in a heart beat for the food and drink menu, at any time of the day or night. The vibe is super comfortable, bright and fun. Service was okay. It took a while to get acknowledged even though I was sitting in the middle of the restaurant and servers walked passed me constantly, but once they were aware of me service was quick!

Well Café Mosaics… you’ve hit a home run with your new menu! Although it’s slightly more Noorish-y than I would like to see you, you are kickin’ out some delicious food in quantities that fill my belly! Keep it up, CM!

Ended up here — one friend Vegan. I lived in Edmonton for a while and have never been to this place — hidden secret for all. Not just for Vegas and Gluten free individuals. Cool setting on Whyte ave– friendly staff. Healthy food that is super tasty! Large portions good for sharing. Great for staying in or take out !

This is my 2nd visit to Café Mosaics and enjoyed every bit of it as much as the first time. My friends and I came for an early dinner and we were allowed to pick our table. We each ordered a dish and ended up picking off of each other’s plates to share. I got the portobello quinoa risotto with green grilled scapes. The portobello mushrooms were huge and plentiful, tofu bits sprinkled in the mixture of tomato, onion, red/brown rice quinoa that was slowly cooked in a coconut cream sauce. We all ended up with a diving into their vegan chocolate cake topped with soy chocolate mousse with blackeberries. The cake didn’t have a chance with us 4. My friends also raved about their fresh Skinny and Warrior juice.

Café Mosaics is a testament to the look and feel of Whyte Ave and the surrounding community, with its quaint café and décor, its dedication to promoting local produce, shopping, and events, and its quest to bring great vegetarian and vegan food to Edmonton. The bright, airy atmosphere of Café Mosaics really opens the place up into an inviting place to share a meal with family and friends. Meanwhile, the menu is extensive, inventive, and almost always a goldmine of delicious treats! The nachos, especially, are absolutely amazing! One downside is the service tends to be a bit on the slow side, but the people are friendly and always willing to offer suggestions/recommendations! While I appreciate that they do their best to utilize local ingredients, they could do to sample the produce they buy first as sometimes it’s a bit on the wilted side, which takes away from the dining experience.

This was my first time at Café Mosaics! It was my friend’s favourite spot in Edmonton, as as two vegans I love that we had so many options. The atmosphere is lovely! Bright and airy I loved the look of the place. While small, it didn’t feel cramped and I love there is no sign on the door. It felt like a secret place. The waitress was nice although rarely checked on us, but recommended the veggie phở which was awesome! My friend is in love with their hummus salad(which is huge and hearty!) and we also ordered the salad rolls to start. Note: The salad rolls are not an appetizer, they come with a side and I was hoping they would be served with peanut sauce because I LOVE peanut sauce but no– hoisin instead. Really the filling was kinda gross but we got guacamole and corn chips as the side which were good.(I blend every cusine together I like) Overall I loved my phở dish and next time I want to try the spaghetti with tofu meat balls! Or a burger. :)

Good from far but far from good. That’s how I would sum up Café Mosaics. After the reno this place looks freaking awesome! I love how open it is and all the wood detailing. The atmosphere is really laid back and I can see the appeal of coming here for an afternoon to study or work. The problem is that the food really sucks. I don’t know if they are over complicating their menu or what but I feel like they are trying to be innovative like Noorish without being able deliver. As someone else said, if you order their fresh pressed juice, be prepared for it to be slightly warmer than room temperature. It was NOT good. If it means you prep some in the morning and refrigerate it would be much better even though it’s not technically«fresh pressed». I mean I don’t think this many Unilocalers can be wrong about the food at this point. But there might be some things on the menu that are better than what I’ve had. I just don’t think I will be back to test it out.

Why must this place ruin my life. The food is so good. Like, think about it all day, know exactly what I’m gonna have when I get there good. Only problem, every time you get there it’s closed!!! They seriously have the worst hours. I can’t count the amount of times I’ve gone there and their closed. I’ve gone on a Sunday and it was closed. I’ve gone on a Monday and it was closed. Here I am on a Tuesday night all jacked up excited for their amazing nachos and … Yep… CLOSED! I might boycott the place because their hours but the thought of never having the secret borrito with its amazing sauce makes me cry a little. There food is actually so good but I just can’t deal with the emotional roller coaster of not getting it when I want it. Is that too much to ask?

Wow! I love the new renovations in this place! Dim and cozy has been traded for bright and airy(especially in nice weather when they have the front open to the street) — still just as hipster, if not more ;). The menu seems more extensive than its previous menu, and there were tons of options that enticed me as a non-vegetarian, and my meat-loving dining companion. I found the food hit or miss(probably deserving of 3.5 stars if I could give it): my Tofu Scramble was quite dry and bland, while their Vegan Creamy Portabella Pasta was absolutely delicious — the perfect mix of creamy yet spicy in a flavourful way(not spicy hot). My Tsunami Wave drink, with frozen pineapple, tumeric, oranges, agave, lemon, cinnamon, tofu, and coconut water, was underwhelming. Texture-wise, it was like a half melted slushie with pulp, heavy on the pineapple with a distinct herbal, rosy flavour. Service was slow(they were completely full that night) but nice enough. Prices are reasonable with most entrées topping out at $ 15. There are so many options on the menu now that(based on the strength of the portabella pasta) I would definitely come back when I’m in the area again and not in a rush to try out some of their other items. Plus, the open front is ideal for vintage car and motorcycle watching as they make their rounds down Whyte…

While I’ve only been here once in recent years, it’s a really great place. I was there with a large group recently and the food(and beverages!) was delicious! I really loved the Thai Iced tea and I rather appreciated the fact that the server offered me a sample when I was uncertain as to whether or not I ought to order it. As a food item I got the phở soup and it was odd that my server didn’t provide me with a spoon or chopsticks immediately when it arrived so I tried to eat it with a fork until I could catch her attention and she was quick to remedy this issue. The food was really quite good and the rest of the members of my group really had good meals as well. This café is crazy busy but the décor is light and bright and there are numerous seating options. I would definitely come back and not just with vegan/vegetarian friends either. The food/and beverage selections are extensive and really quite worth sampling. Being on Whyte Avenue it is pretty transit accessible as well.

The renos they did have served this place very well in my opinion. They now have garage style roll up windows so they can pull them up in the summer for an amazing outdoor patio effect! The food here is off the hook! If I could suggest one meal it’d be the Happy Cow Bowl! It’s delicious and nutritious vegan take on a Vemicelli bowl. My favourite drink is the Chai Berry Chai, it tastes like spicy rose petals! I’m not even vegetarian and I fully love this place!

I wandered in here because I was intrigued by the lack of sign on the front of the shop. By intrigued, I mean irritated because I had no idea what this place was. I came in with a friend to satisfy my curiosity and I have to say I’m in love with the décor. It’s super light and open. I really enjoyed the way you could see into their bar and the ingredients were out on display. The food portions were huge. I got a burger and I could barely finish it. The patties are thick, maybe a little too thick, but overall delicious. I’m not a huge healthy eating person, but after coming here it makes me want to be a little more interested in what exactly I’m eating.

I only been there for a cup of coffee — choice of cashew, soy, almond milk available!(Thumbs up) — great choice of vegan foods(all dishes 15CAD) ! Overall prices are a little high(esp for students just coming for a snack) ! Atmosphere unique, busy, somehow like in the middle of the kitchen or a farmers market. Superb service! My wish: smaller dishes or daily options, more enclosed customers areas for a quieter stay!

The place has been renovated and has lost the hippy feel, but it is a lot more spacious and bright. The music is still loud — so loud that we could not hear each other at our table where we were trying to have a meeting. Cool artwork still adorns the walls and the menu still has all of my favourites plus a few new items.

Café Mosaics is one of the restaurants that I knew I was going to miss when I moved away from Edmonton. I try to make an effort to go back as often as I can. This restaurant is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My personal favourite menu item would have to be the vegan wings but I’m also crazy about their onion cakes, tofu scrambles, and burgers. To be honest, there isn’t a single item on the menu that I’ve been disappointed by. They have a great drink menu as well. Make sure to try one of their house-made juices! I love Mosaics’ new post-renovation look. Yes, it isn’t as cozy and eclectic as the restaurant used to be but instead it’s open, bright, and airy. It’s a great place to have an intimate meal or to drop by with a group. Service can be a little slow so go elsewhere if you’re in a rush but if you aren’t, it’s definitely worth the wait!
