Pretty good food and service today. Only complaint was that the apps and food almost came at the same time.

Food is average at best and service is hit and miss. Once got wings and they were ice cold. Servers are good sometimes and sometimes terrible. Last time waiting 20 Minutes to get my bill. I wont ever return. I’m surprised their still open.

I find myself wondering who the target market is for this place. For the record I find the 142 St location to be perfectly acceptable, but this one just doesn’t seem to know it’s purpose. It’s always empty. Maybe I’ve just come here at the wrong times. You can get better ‘bar-food’ basically anywhere in Edmonton. It’s not particularly attractive to look at inside or out. It seems like the kind of diner you would find on the side of a highway in a desert in America somewhere. It just seems awkward and quiet and out of place. And oh boy is the service slow. My server loudly discussing her personal problems with other staff, threw, literally threw, our plates onto the table spilling them, because she was in a bad mood. Bad moods happen I guess. Third time wasn’t the charm for this place for me. I probably wouldn’t be returning when you consider the sheer number of sports bars in Edmonton that you can choose from. But again, I’ve always found the service great at the west side location.

Been to this Bo Diddlys a bunch of times and have never been impressed. The food while adequate is nothing to write home about. Not unusual in a sports bar type of place, but if you play the VLT’s you can pretty much forget about service. As soon as you sit down at a game you are invisible. I can understand that service might be slow when a place is busy but when you have to practically hog tie a waitress on a slow sunday afternoon with five other people in the bar. Please somebody shoot me already. This might sound like sour grapes but I have experienced this on quite a few occasions and am now writing them off of my list if places to go.

I used to work right by Bo’diddly’s, so I came here with a bunch of co-workers for a fun night of «Name that Tune.» This game is fairly simple. The DJ plays the beginning of a song, then you have to try to guess the name of the song. Anyone could play the game – it didn’t matter if it was only two of you or a group of twenty. Our group was considerably large and rowdy. What a few drinks do to middle-aged women – we had people dancing on the chairs and the table. At one point, I was asked to «Name that Tune!» I knew it was a Bön Jovi song, so I said«Livin’ On a Prayer.» Then the host said, «You Give Love a Bad Name,» that’s right!!!” Huh? I’m not sure if he heard me wrong or was just being nice. There were also points awarded to the most«outgoing» teams, so there were a lot of dance-offs. It was completely insane. I am a very shy, reserved person, but even I was coerced to get up and dance, and I embarrassingly did the robot dance. I’ll never live it down. There was one group of young, cool, and attractive people who were amazing dancers and guessed all the songs correctly. It was obvious they should have won, but for some reason our team won. We figured out that they must have been hired to create a funner atmosphere. I also ordered some food here, but it wasn’t that great. The pizza was bland and doughy. It was a fun night, but there are better bars out there.

This isn’t the type of pub I’d wander into normally, but my partner has been there before and said it had a pretty good menu, although the clientele was a bit rowdy. It’s located in a shopping plaza and, according to my squeeze, there are no other neighbourhood pubs around, so this one has gotten popular with the people who live nearby. There are TV screens around the bar, a pool table and a couple of games, including one of those punching bags that sound a bell when you hit it hard enough. We sat near the back because it was packed, and unfortunately had to listen to guys vying against one another for punching bag champion rights. But the cold beer and portion sizes of the appies were enough to pacify us. We ordered potato skins that were huge and crispy, and spring rolls that were plentiful. It doesn’t take much to make us as happy as ducks in a puddle. Oh God, I sound old, don’t I?! Did I mention how short the waitresses’ jean skirts were? It’s no coincidence men pack this place to drink their beer, watch their sports and blow off steam after a long work week.
