How do you review a business that takes photographs? I mean… what exactly are you buying? Now-​a-​days every person in any given room has a high powered high definition camera in their pocket. At an event such as a wedding or a birthday you always have «that relative» who spent $ 1500+ on a dslr and maybe took a basic photography course which makes them think they’re qualified to capture the moments that are making your life time. So what really are you paying for?
To my mind a couple of things spring to mind. And to be honest before meeting Dorota and Marcin, they would not have entered my mind as actual skills, assets or equipment required to be a professional photographer.
The first and most important is the ability to put your client at ease. The camera sees into the soul in the hands of a professional, but you want them to see into your soul, not to soul of a person who is scared of a camera (which I am). Dorota and Marcin working together as a great husband and wife team managed to get both myself and my wife to relax in front of the camera as they took our wedding photographs, and the difference is readily apparent in the quality of the work. They were fun to work with and guided us through the posing and background work very well. And despite English not being their first language were able to do so effectively.
Second to me is backup, they came equipped with two cameras, took pictures from two different vantage and shared a variety of lenses. They were careful to stay out of each others shots, and always confirmed with each other that they had the shot before moving on.
Third is that ephemeral ability to see the picture before it is taken, and make it the most that it can be. Basically, they made my wife look as beautiful in picture as she does in my eyes, which coming from people who don’t like having their pictures taken is quite the compliment.
Finally, as a whole they were professional, showed up early to everything, came prepared, kept on us to provide the information we promised (as you can imagine we had a lot on our minds planning a whole wedding, so it was easy to forget to assemble a list of pictures we wanted or such). They made us comfortable, and the pictures they took were amazing. Editing work was done to smooth some stuff out *wink wink*, and I can’t wait to see them hanging on our wall.
As a group they rolled with the changes to our schedule, and provided great pictures, great work, and a fun environment to do it in. I would happily hire them again… though not for a wedding as this is going to be my only one haha.
