Description

Specialties

Learn French Toronto gets its students speaking in French right from lesson one. We place great emphasis on proper pronunciation. And we tailor each lesson to the individual student’s needs and learning style.

For primary aged students, we assist with homework and test preparation.

For high school and college students, we assist in the writing process, from conception to revision. We also help students prepare for oral presentations and interviews.

History

Established in 2009.

Mr. Sewell has been a teacher since 1988. He derived his personal teaching style from the Berlitz method while teaching at Berlitz in Montréal (1988 – 89). After completing his teaching certificate at McGill (1990), Mr. Sewell taught in the TDSB French Immersion programs until 2001. It was in the course of his tenure with the TDSB that Mr. Sewell began to experiment with different teaching techniques in an attempt to engage some of the more difficult students. Drawing on Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligence, Mr. Sewell began to incorporate music, rhythmic exercise and dance into the daily routine and to organize his class activities in a way that enabled one-on-one teaching. Because of his success with gifted, hyperactive, antisocial, and learning-disabled students, Mr. Sewell chose to offer his particular brand of instruction to the general public by founding Learn French Toronto in 2009.
