I’ve been to this resort a few times to cross-country(xc) ski. It’s a charmingly, old-fashioned, ski lodge which I think modernity has left behind. The first level has the store, the rentals and a room for groups/people. I’ve always rented and I can not complain on it b/c it’s always served me well. The upstairs has the small cafeteria, the washrooms and 2 rooms for groups. Both rooms are large enough to accommodate groups. The cafeteria sells coffee/tea(higgins & burke), cookies, biscuits, muffins and simple food(soups & chili for example). I have not purchased their food, only their tea. I bring my own nutritional lunch to fuel me for a day of skiing on the trails. The décor the group rooms is made up of old cabinets and drawers no one uses. Perhaps the resort can consider someday throwing them away. The tables in each room are also very old. But you don’t come here to sit inside. You are here to enjoy the outdoors! To breathe in the fresh air. Nevermind the occasional chilly wind gust, the burst of energy you expend skiing warms you up immediately. I’m a beginner, so I have skied on the green trail a few times now. For my ability, it is a very satisfying run. There are sufficient hills to practice your snow plow to control your speed and gain the confidence needed to ski down the trails/hills. When you start, you get to enjoy the fresh powder and ski in beautiful trails. There were a lot of bear prints in the snow; what a reminder that we are intruding in their territory. That this playground is shared by the us and the wildlife. The only thing I hate? The ice! When the trails freeze, it becomes unsafe and I prefer to not ski at all.
