I am from Vancouver so know good fresh sushi. My mom and I went to this restaurant last week. Both of us ordered different menu items. The food was so bad, old fish, poor tasting poor quality that we ended up leaving. I told the gal how bad it was and just left my money for the pop I ordered. I had stomach cramps from the few bites that I did put in my mouth. NOT good.

I don’t think it was THAT bad for sushi on the island. The service was OK, they were friendly and proficient, nothing out of the ordinary. The sushi was OK as well, a little too much Pollock and not enough tempura fillings on their rolls, but the sushi wasn’t too bad for freshness, servings size, or price. They do a good job of their Takoyaki, not enough sauce but not too stingy on the octopus. Beef tataki was a bit overpriced for what you get. The rolls were OK, not as much raw fish per roll than I would like. Their wasabi was not very spicy and their«spicy» rolls were not that spicy either, but I’d say it’s pretty average for quality overall and not too bad of a price. Nice décor/ambiance, there were lots of nice booths and a sushi bar.

decided to try again today, after the terrible experience last time. Again, the rolls are so terribly big, diameter about 3 inches(10cm), ridiculous size to think about puttin into your mouth. We asked our server to please have chef make the rolls thin. When rolls were large again, we decided we’d just eat quickly and messily, and leave. But our waitress, who was a pleasant person and appeared eager at her job, asked what we thought. We told her they were too big to eat. A few minutes later her boss/chef came out, and argued with us! Stated the rolls were big because they were full of ‘stuff’. Well of course they were, too much stuff! Said we should have asked for the rolls to be made thin. We said we had done so, and the boss snapped at our waitress, who said gently that she had told her… Shortly afterwards, we heard the boss giving our waitress a load of heck, and not long after that, our waitress left the restaurant. I hope she quit. The boss tried, much too little and too late, to convince us to come back(we’d told her we would not come back), by bringing a replacement of the cheapest item we’d ordered, same diameter but sliced thinner. Won’t be back. Food not brilliant, rice falls apart, quite ridiculous rolls(best eaten with a knife and fork), and the boss/chef gave us such a bad taste in our mouths. Good thing there’s two other Japanese restaurants in town.

Had a spicy tuna roll. Definitely prepared differently than the other hundred sushi restaurants I have been to. It was chunks of white tuna with spicy sauce drizzled on top. It was tasty but nothing special and I prefer the spicy tuna rolls the normal way. Wouldnt go back.

The décor is great, kitchy pretty way. The restaurant and bathrooms are extremely clean. The food however was not the best I’ve ever had. The rolls were large and you get a lot for what you pay for but the rice fell apart before I could get it in my mouth. I didn’t find the service to be the friendliest either.
