Battlefield Live is a fun, pain-free alternative to paintball that requires a lot more skill and strategy than Laser Tag. It’s suitable for both adults and children and would be a fun and unusual place for a party, or for team building activity. The Awesome Stuff!: You get to move around and get competitive! Like paintball, you’re free to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and umm, dodge to your hearts content and play as fast and hard as you want. If you always get yelled at in laser tag for running, jumping, or basically doing anything fun, you should check out Battlefield Live. The sights matter! You’ve gotta aim in this game. If you take a second and use the gun sights, you can one shot your opponents instead of shooting wildly from the hip trying to get the laser a little closer to the target like in laser tag. Stealth matters! You have a light on the end of your gun, but that’s it! This means that you can sneak up, strategize and plan your attack far more effectively than in laser tag where your entire body is covered in blinky lights. it’s not until you actively take aim at another player that you’re sure to get noticed. Reload times! You’ve only got a certain number of shots and a certain number of clips. If you hit the reload button while you’ve still got bullets in your clip, you throw them away. It ads some awesome extra strategy to the game. The«Meh» Stuff: I thought it was cool that they went for an outdoor feel with fake trees, sandbags, but it felt a bit like a cop-out. Some of imagination would go a long way — Interesting structures and fun maps always help make an action packed paintball game. I’m sure the same would apply here. The velcro that holds the sensors to the hats fails all the time and your target falls off rendering you invincible. Fun, yes, but entirely unfair… Some theatrical lighting, or special effects… anything… would go a LONG way. Right now it’s just dark room with enough residual florescent light from the mall for you to be able to see. Music please! As it stands, it’s one of the employees iPods. They’ll skip songs in the middle, or leave a bunch of awkward silence while looking for a new song. Yes, it’s true… «Call Me Maybe» by Carly Rae Jepson DOES make me want to shoot things, just not in a way that makes for an enjoyable game experience… A professional sounding and appropriate playlist would go a LONG way.
