Paperpotamus is a Canadian wholesale supplier of greeting cards,. notepads and T-​Shirts. Many different ranges of greeting cards are available including work from Canadian artists who create humorous cartoons, artistic work with birds, flowers, horses etc.

Our imported greeting card lines come from England, mainly from Abacus Cards. These are beautifully designed, very high quality, individually cello wrapped cards with many different styles and occasions including Men’s Birthday & Blanks, both humorous and photographic designs of boats, bikes, wine, sailing, golfing, etc.

History

Established in 1988.

Paperpotamus began as a wholesale greeting card publisher. We found a very talented Canadian cartoonist who’s greeting card images became very popular almost overnight. For many years Kaleidacards were sold Canada wide in Carlton stores. WH Smith Books, Shoppers Drug Mart as well as many very contemporary store chains, independent card & gift stores & bookstores etc. Over time we found other artists to broaden the humorous range as well as added card lines such as Artistica and Paw Pourri, created by other excellent Canadian artists.

In 1999 we began to distribute beautiful quality greeting cards from Abacus in the UK. Abacus has grown to over 600 beautiful designs now, including birthday, anniversary, get well, retirement, wedding, blanks etc. Each high quality greeting card & envelope is individually cello wrapped & sticker priced for retail sales. We have enjoyed a very loyal customer base who have come to expect the impressive quality & images we offer with new designs regularly.

Meet the Business Owner

George J.

Business Owner

Beginning in direct sales in N. Manitoba, then Winnipeg in the 60’s, George moved to BC in 1972. After taking several Dale Carnegie courses, he moved into the wholesale business with dinnerware, gifts, glassware, etc. In 1980, George became a greeting card sales rep with a company which distributed many of the most popular cards at the time, such as Far Side, Flavia, Sunrise etc.

Deciding in 1988 to showcase some Canadian talent he’s ‘discovered’, George began Paperpotamus with a partner. They worked tirelessly with their artists to create new card designs & promote them to independent card & gift stores & large chain stores across Canada & the USA. The company moved several times before finally buying a large enough space in Delta, BC in 1998.

Over the years, Paperpotamus has become a successful importer of quality greeting cards from the US & the UK. Currently, besides cards, notepads & T-​Shirts they have produced, he imports beautiful, high quality Abacus card lines from UK.
