I had a terrible experience tonight at the Dartmouth Crossing location. Swiss Chalet is usually a quicker place to go to get a quick hot meal that is delicious. Tonight was not one of those occasions. We wait for almost 20 minutes for our server to take our drink and food order. Then another 45 minutes for two festive chicken dinners. I ordered mine with fries and my mother ordered her with mash potatoes. When my plate arrived it looked like someone had chopped up over cooked cold fries into tiny pieces. My bun was rock solid and there was no stuffing or cranberry sauce. When I brought this to my servers attention she didn’t apologize and just said she would bring the festive sides out separately. After mentioning my fries again, she brought more of the same fries on a separate plate instead of taking my plate back to the kitchen and getting it fixed. Still no apology from the waitress. We asked for the manager and first told she was cooking on the line and if I wanted to ’”leave her a message”. I insisted on speaking with her, she came out and explained what happened. She took all the nasty food away and did promptly bring out a fresh plate with hot, properly cut fries. Manager did apologize, but no comp was offered for the almost 20 minute debacle. My mother was done eating before I even got my proper plate. We finished, then waited almost another 20 minutes for her to check on is to get the bill. We ended up having to go to the bar and get our bill there. There were three tables around us with a different server who turned her table around twice in the amount of time we were there waiting for everything. Very disappointing tonight. We will stick to the Main Street location.

Worst location and worst food I have ever experienced(s) from Swiss Chalet. The worst part is that if I order delivery it comes from this location if I want it to or not. Food is always cold, small portions and the drivers are very unfriendly(especially when they miss the delivery time by 28 mins). Because I cannot choose where I get delivery from I now order maybe one every 6 months instead of every week or so. Other places who know how to treat customers get my money.

We usually make it to Swiss Chalet a couple times a year, mostly for the Festive Special around Christmas. Typically we go to the Main Street location but since this one is close to work and shopping we gave it a try. Not as cozy and intimate as the Main Street location, has more of the chain restaurant feel. Service was fast and when B mentioned his chicken arrived luke warm at best, there was no question, a new piping hot piece arrived at the table pronto. This location pretty much lives up to what I’ve come to expect from Swiss Chalet. We’ll be back.

I’ve been a patron of various HRM Swiss Chalets for many, many years. As others have noted, you should know what to expect when you walk into one; however, I felt compelled to give my two cents’ worth about a recent experience my partner and I had at this particular location. We were famished after a long day of moving and organization — there was no food in the fridge, but I had a gift card for SC. Given that it was a Saturday evening, we anticipated a wait and were not surprised to find the place packed. Sounds like a typical SC scenario, right? Here’s what made our visit awesome: — The hostess told us it would be a 5 minute wait. It was, and we were promptly seated. — Our waiter was absolutely fantastic — friendly, funny, and efficient. It was very obvious that he loved his job, so we gave him a generous tip. He was, quite honestly, one of the best waitstaff I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. — Food came out in minutes and was terrific. I love their chicken! — We were seated, sated, and sent on our merry way in a short length of time. No lagging about for the bill or anything else. The only con I can recall is that the restaurant was quite noisy, but this is to be expected from SC, especially at peak hours on a weekend. All in all, a very memorable visit. We will be back!

Chicken was quite good. I was a little put-off by the«special sauce», however. I curiously asked my waitress just what ingredients made up this special concoction. She told me she had no idea and that it came as a gigantic box of powder. Hmm… delicious? The prices were fair, however.

I appreciate a Swiss Chalet for what it is, a family restaurant serving decent chicken and good fries at a decent price and a fast pace, and this one is no exception when you eat in. However, I have had some real issues with their delivery and take-out services. I work in Dartmouth Crossing and sometimes at lunch I either walk up and get take-out or if I’m lazy(or it’s raining, freezing etc) I order online for delivery. The delivery can sometimes be very slow, recently a few of us in the office placed an order and after 2 phone calls and two hours of waiting from a place we can practically see out the window we cancelled. Also on multiple occasions I’ve had issues with forgotten items in both take out and delivery. While sure a missing roll or condiments etc suck, what really made me mad was that when I ordered the Sweet Heat Salad, the Sweet Heat sauce(you know, the thing the dish was named after) was missing, this has happened to me more than once! Long story short? If you eat in your good to go, but beware of the delivery and take-out services.

You know? I’m never upset when someone suggests we take a journey over to Le Chalet Suisse. Their french fries are bangin’, their veggie burgers are big, and I’ve never met a perogie that I didn’t like. Thus, there’s always something I’m perfectly happy to eat here. The unfortunate part about this location in particular is that you’re not going to get that so carefully manufactured welcome-home feel that you see in the commercials. In fact, there’s a solid chance you might get some mega attitude thrown your way as I’ve encountered more than my fair share of servers who hate their lives here. Sometimes it’s a lackluster welcome to the restaurant and a long wait for someone to seat you, sometimes it’s a server that waits 15 minutes to visit you and then only ever comes back to deliver the food. Either way, while I’m a-okay with Swiss Chalet in general especially around the holiday season, this one is definitely on the naughty list.

Have you been to Swiss Chalet? Then you should know what to expect. This is a «family restaurant» that takes pride in being a family restaurant, which is a nice change. Overall, everything is good but a bit predictable. Good: okay food, good service, enjoyable décor and ample seating. Bad: food is only okay, can be a bit noisy and the parking lot is too small. Best: pricing. Not on all the dishes, all the time but most are very reasonably priced. Weird: the dip they give you with perogies. Please change it.

Over the holidays, I was out shopping with my parents and they wanted to go somewhere for lunch. They chose Swiss Chalet because it is one of their go to lunch places back in NB where they live. We got there around 11:45 on Dec 22nd and it was already packed. We waited a few minutes and were seated across from the bathrooms. The booths in this location are in general poor condition — torn seat fabric, etc and this table was no exception. My parents were surprised because they thought that this location is not that old. Our server came over and gave us menus/took our drink orders. When she brought the drinks, she gave my father a noticeably dirty tea cup. He had to wave her down again to get another one, as she quickly walked away. Also, this waitress had long hair(in a pony tail but it’s so long that a pony tail does not make a difference), it should have been in a bun or something. Especially after we saw her deliver food to another table and as doing so, her hair was resting ON the customers plate(we saw this after our food had already been served). So service on this day was generally lacking, the server seemed zoned out, and the restaurant atmosphere was loud and not as cleanly as it should have been. Now on to the food. I ordered a chicken wrap and fries. My wrap was visibly charred(too much in some spots), yet the sandwich was cold and cheese not melted… I was not sure if it was supposed to be served hot or cold. The fries were good but the portion was small. My parents ordered soup, which they were happy with. My mother ordered a chicken sandwhich, her usual, and my dad the chicken spring rolls. He says the spring rolls are so good at the NB location he gets them as a meal. Here though, they were MUCH smaller and different than he is used to, so he was disappointed. Overall, next time my parents want to go to Swiss Chalet, I will be quick to change their mind. I think I will go to a different location to use my BOGO coupons from the festive meal I got here previously — it seems as though my experiences at this location have been far from good.

I have been a fan of Swiss Chalet since I was a little girl. However, the Swiss Chalet in Dartmouth Crossing is not doing anything for the good name of Swiss Chalet. I have eaten there twice this month(once dine in and take out today) and each time the chicken was poorly cooked, and the fries were over cooked and sparse. Each time I asked for white meat and received dark meat. Today, the chicken I received was clearly not cooked enough and it took approx 2 hours to get it from the time it was ordered. This review is ONLY for the Swiss Chalet in Dartmouth Crossing as I have always thoroughly enjoyed my meal at other Swiss Chalets. Dartmouth Crossing, however, may have given me salmonella for Christmas.

Consistent service and excellent food if you like chicken. This is the best designed Swiss Chalet I have ever seen except for the floor tiles which can be slippery — careful when they are wet.

Swiss Chalet has always been a toss up for me. The lack of menu choice, loud kids, and tastelessness have been major sticking points. It’s definitely a polarizing place, as quite a few people I know regularly have cravings for their chicken. The Chalet is definitely not a good place for anyone who dislikes chicken, likes variety, or is a vegetarian. Options are few and far between here. We ended up here hungry, short on time, and desperate before a movie première last weekend. Everyone ordered a variation of the chicken dinner. I ordered their newfangled chicken pannini thingy. Yuck. Too many different condiments. Mustard, mayo, hickory. It was flat, cold, and exceedingly small compared to the fancy menu picture. I’d say now that it’s not safe to order anything that’s not a chicken dinner off the menu. Service was super quick and even I admit Swiss Chalet is a great place to go if you have a young family. Screaming kids are expected(and embraced), plus it’s so loud in there no one notices. Even picky kids can find little fault in the chicken and fries staple. They often have meal specials with ridiculously good deals, like the chicken and rib spectacular that pops up every once in a while. It’s worth a visit then. I will also add that they let adults order the Shirley Temple, which tastes just as good as it did when you were a kid. If you ask nicely, they’ll give you a tiny umbrella.

I haven’t been to swiss chalet for years… after my «stinky chicken» incident at the Main Street location. We decided to give it a try again. Atmosphere… loud. Quite a few screaming children around. Maybe I’m used to dining in less«chain» restaurants being spoiled by Halifax and it’s abundance of indi-eats. I don’t mind children… honest… a little control is nice though. I ordered the chicken and rib combo. Meh. The chicken wasn’t stinky, that was a good thing. Salty yes. Fries were typical. Ribs were good. Sauce is their signature dipping sauce that I find salty as well. Over all, not very impressed by the whole experience. For the price I paid, I could have gone to Q on Argtle and had a much better BBQ. Oh yeah, no wi-fi.

Swiss Chalet is probably one of the best known family restaurant’s around. There is not a day that goes by that you drive by any Swiss Chalet restaurant’s and the parking lot is full. I think that you can smell a Swiss Chalet before you see one. That chicken is delicious. As for the fries I am really not a big fan of them unless they are super fresh so I normally get a baked potato. My BF like the hot turkey sandwiches smothered in gravy. The dipping sauce in my opinion does not enhance the flavor of the chicken at all I think it takes away the taste of it actually. There are many locations across the HRM and it seems that some are better then others and this location rocks. I do find all SC kind of noisy but that is what happens when a good restaurant is busy!
