Specialties

Satya Tea is an international retail and wholesale purveyor of fine teas. Satya Tea develops, blends, and flavours a wonderful selection of teas for individuals as well as cafes and gourmet stores, and are wholly committed to serving exceptional tea for a great value.

History

Established in 2011.

In April 2011, Laura Evans and David Moore partnered with a friend from far away and formed a small tea company in Halifax, Nova Scotia. During their first year Laura and David grew their knowledge of tea immensely, but in 2012 decided to separate from their partner, becoming an independent tea company, and created Satya Tea. The literal translation of Satya means truth in the Indo-Aryan language of Sanskrit. Laura and David both wanted the name of their company to not only reflect what they wanted to stand for, but also wanted it to be an expression of who they were as people. Their fondness of the Sanskrit language was through being students of yoga and meditation, and when Satya was suggested, it was a perfect fit.

Both Laura and David love tea and will enjoy it for the rest of their lives.

Business Owner

David Moore was born and raised in Halifax, NS. Since the age of 16, David has grown into a serial entrepreneur. With another venture, ShadesColour and Associates, David was also the primary developer used to build the Satya Tea website. David favours Black, but particularly Organic Lapsang Souchong. It’s quite powerful and seems to fit perfectly with his energetic personality.

Laura Evans was born and raised in Cape Breton, NS. Laura is a passionate individual with a wide variety of education and experience. Laura is the co-founder of Satya Tea (meaning «Truth» in Sanskrit). Having fallen in love with Tea from her very first sip, Laura still considers her first her favourite; Jasmine Green Tea. Knowing the various flavours and health benefits of tea, Laura favours Green Teas.

You can visit Laura (and David) in person on Saturday at the Alderney Landing Farmers Market, where she loves to share her passion for tea and healthful living.
