Metro Suzuki

Dealing with Metro Suzuki has always been a pleasant experience … well, as pleasant as buying a car can be. All post-​buying experiences have been great!
We bought our Suzuki in 2010 and have consistently taken it back to the dealership for just about everything. They don’t gouge, they don’t promise your car will be ready at X time and bring it out three hours later, they don’t give you the runaround. Staff have always been friendly and knowledgeable, and our car has always been well cared for by them.
Service prices are surprisingly reasonable for a dealership. They are worth the drive to Dartmouth for us.

I’ve had my car in here I don’t know how many times and it’s always the same thing every time:
I go in, put my car in, they give me a time and they always finish up faster than they estimated.
The staff is super friendly and they’ll usually pick up on other things that the car might not be in for — recalls on specific parts (no charge if you have a warranty), make sure wipers are in good shape, MVI sticker up to date, etc.
My current car is the only one I’ve taken on regular maintenance so I’m not sure if this is the only shop that does the ‘extra mile’ things that I mentioned, or if it’s standard. Either way, it’s a great little way for them to make a few bucks while covering you and making sure everything is looked after.

I went in to buy a solid car to get from Halifax to Moncton and figured since they were a big name dealership, I wouldn’t have to worry about getting stuck with some POS that would break down in the middle of nowhere, NB. I went in looking for a car in the 7000 $ range. Didn’t find much but there was a sharp looking Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart sitting in their lot. I’ve always had a soft spot for those cars and you don’t usually find many of them used. Well the price tag said 13 000, which was way over my budget but the salesman/​finance guy encouraged me to put in an offer anyways. Well, I threw a lowball $ at them which happened to be a few grand under asking and it was approved. It was more than I wanted to spent in a car but I figured that I was buying from a reputable dealer so I’d be safe (and the balance of the Mitsubishi power train warranty). Well I was wrong.
I paid for the car and was to pick it up the next day. I noticed that one of the door handles was unpaired but I ignored it. The next day, the handle was painted with a non matching tremClad paint. Looked terrible. When I confronted the sales manager, he said he painted it to «make it look better». Thanks for the effort but that didn’t work out. I drown the car home and midway, I noticed the center console wasn’t even bolted down. I was back the next day to get it fixed. A few days later, I had a look at the engine and oil, And noticed the oil was really dirty. Oil change hadn’t been done so I got it done and went back to the dealer to ask why it hadn’t. On my way, it rained and a horrible smell came through the vents. Perfect. Another thing wrong, but all minor. Told the sales manager about it and he offered to comp me a cabin air filter and install «to make up for the oil change (that cost me 89 $ full synthetic)». Fine.
A couple days after that, I was getting back wobble while driving and started sounded like it was dying. Back to the dealership I went. He balanced the tires and cleaned the starter.
A couple weeks later, when it was taken out on the highway for the first time since I bought it, there was really bad shaking when the brakes were applied. Rotors needed to be replaced. Once again, I went back to the dealer. Spoke to the sales mana get who flat out said to me: «if I knew you would keep coming back with trouble with the car, I wouldn’t have sold it to you». Rude.
I went next door to book a service appointment at metro Mitsubishi.
The next week I had the rotors and shoes replaced and the techs even painted the calipers for me :) great guys. 415 $
A couple days later, I had to bring the car back to metro mitsubishi cause the ebrake they did work on wasn’t working well. The aftermarket brake pads I brought in probably were contaminated. They weren’t sticking. My fault. However, while looking for the problem, they noticed that the rear control arms were causing the back end of the car to sag. It’s going to be. 500 $ repair.
the point of me sharing my terrible experience is to warn you to avoid buying a used car from the metro Suzuki dealership. I’m sure your experience would be better with a new car however.

I know all dealerships are greasy, and the majority of them will lie their way into your pocket.
I had one the of the worst experiences with the people at Metro Suzuki. They suckered me into an extended warranty, which I had 30 days to change my mind, and I did. But the Business Manager lied to me and told me the only part of the extended warranty that needed to be done on my car, was to install the Rust Inhibitors, and I had no choice but to get it done. (Rust Inhibitors are a joke, and I will continue on later about them)
I bring my car in, I get a ride home. A few hours later, I get a call saying the technician who worked on my car was coming to pick me up to get my car. We chatted and I just brought up how it took kind of a long time just to install Rust Inhibitors. He assured me he did all the work needed on my car PLUS the Rust Inhibitor installation.
I had to write a letter to the Manager explaining what was said and done. I did have 30 days to change my mind, none of the work was done on my car, and I got my money back from the stupid extended warranty.
People may not know what Rust Inhibitors are. Let me tell you what the dealership will say; it’s basically like getting a Rust Check every year for five years. Meaning, with them installed you will never need to have a Rist Check. I’ve had to have two Rust Checks done in the past 4 years. When I confronted the technician about the Rust Inhibitors, she tells me that it doesn’t prevent rust, it slows down the rust process.
Just save your money and go somewhere else. I may need to update this review in the future regarding giving the car back after the 5 years of owning it.
