Hiltz Shoe Repair

Was visiting from out of town for a wedding and my boots needed some TLC. Service was super friendly and quick. Great to see young entrepreneurs kicking it old school. Reduce — reuse — recycle!

I didn’t realize that good service still existed until I came here. Very Friendly staff, very knowledgeable, excellent price and to top it all off; quick turn around. My leather boots got new soles and they look brand new. excellent place; would highly recomendamos them.

I had obtained a pair of white nursing shoes many moons ago when looking for a pair of sensible, comfortable shoes (of which I refuse to own more than one pair). Sensible and comfortable they were — but I never wore them due to their utter whiteness. I finally got around to getting them dyed black at Hiltz Shoe Repair, and you’d barely recognize them now! So shiny and pretty and black and easy to accessorize!
Other good things:
— The guys who work here love their work. They are friendly, relaxed, and (most importantly) honest.
— Despite the costs and hard work of dying white shoes black, the initial quote I received never changed.
–The quality of the finished product is quite marvelous, as I mentioned before.
The only imperfection in this business’s armor is the wait time. My shoes presented a particularly onerous challenge, so there were a few setbacks along the way — meaning, in the end, that it took about 3 weeks from drop off to pick up. This is not the place for a quick repair, but the quality of the cobblers’ work makes up for it.

I like sneakers. Like, I reaaaally like sneakers. But being a grown-​up means I have to wear grown-​up shoes sometimes. I bought two pairs that I love (like a parent, differently but equally) a few years back. I’m pretty unmerciful on my shoes — I tend to wear down the heel pretty quickly. It was fast approaching a time when the shoes I loved would be un-​wearable.
I wasn’t looking forward to shelling out big bucks to buy two new pairs of shoes when all I needed to do was replace the heels. So I swung over to Hitlz. I had no idea (none!) of what to expect. But $ 20 and two weeks later I had the first pair of shoes repaired and shined and better than ever. A few weeks later, I went in with the second pair and the results were equally amazing.
You’ll definitely feel like a grown-​up (in a good way) when you get show your shoes cobbled here. (Okay that might not be the right technical term, but doesn’t it sound right?) And it’s easy on your wallet and good for the environment –that’s a great combination in and of itself.
Staff were very friendly and relaxed — even though I forgot to bring my claim ticket both times.
I highly recommend for anyone who’s thinking it’s time to replace an old pair of shoes but would prefer to repair them instead.

Where have you been my long over due cobbler friends?
After working downtown Halifax and trying several times at that want-​to-​be-​shoe-​repair-​place, I’m happy to say I can get my shoes/​boots etc fixed now when needed. These guys/​gals rock!!!
I changed jobs a couple years ago taking me to Woodside and I then started doing my banking downtown Dartmouth just 5mins away, and lo and behold I caught this place out of the corner of my eye one day as I drove by. I thought why not give them a try? I mean just because you had the very worst experiences before doesn’t mean they are all alike right? Bang on is right.
First I took it slow and dropped off a couple pair of shoes. One pair was an old favourite that I got in London and was not likely to get again but having paid 5pounds for them I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend a lot on the repair. I opted for my truly favourites, and expensive by my standards, pair of Rockports. I had worn them so much there was much wrong with them. They assured me they could fix them and the cost was not bad at all (~20ish). When I went to pick them up I was shocked — they looked brand new!
I’ve since taken back 2 more pair of shoes and a pair of suede boots. All the work was to the very highest standards and they will ensure that both shoes/​boots look the same in their repair — they even suede protected my boots!!!
The service is fantastic. The two guys and one gal always seem happy, They are courteous and very knowledgeable. I HIGHLY recommend this place and I wish only one thing — that I had found them before I had one very expensive pair of hiking shoes fixed 4 times to have them break as I was leaving the plane into Cancun. I was so pissed to not have a pair with me but why did I trust that it would be fixed for «real» this time anyway? :)
Don’t throw out those favourites — give these folks a try.

And the heavens opened, the angels sang… this is the shoe repair that just doesn’t exist anywhere anymore! After only a few visits I now trust them implicitly — if they say it cannot be fixed, it cannot be fixed — and they will either repair my shoe, handbag, belt, or other odd piece to perfection, or tell me not to waste my money. They also stock every single shoelace known to man, lots of insoles, polish etc. and they cut keys.
Don’t throw out your favourite shoes without going here first.
And, they let me bring my dog inside. And they’re a personable, family-​run operation. Love them.
UPDATE: friend from BC brought her boots all the way to Nova Scotia to have them repaired here. I am back in BC and am comtemplating SENDING a package to them! Really, they are that good.

This place is getting good reviews. I need some new soles on my boots and will give them a try.
The storefront is nice and inviting — a pleasant change from many of the former tattoo parlors. The younger guys behind the counter welcomed me in and quickly provided a reasonable response to my problem.
Sorry to say that I told them that I would be out of town for a couple of weeks — and so when I did return, my boots hadn’t been done because I gave the too much time:(Shared responsibility there I guess.
Ok, after the first delay, they said Wednesday and they called on Wednesday to say that the boots are ready. They did a great job, even using special tools to get the heels nailed in.
Definitely going back — and next time I wont give them more than a couple of days to get the work done;-)
