Farmer Clem’s

I used to looove Farmer Clems, gave them all of my business for flowers, bushes, veg etc, but after today i will not be going back, and will tell my friends and family the same.
Some reviews highlight that the customer service is bad– i have not had anything but helpful people until today. It is sad that one bad apple can ruin the bunch.
I have never bought mulch there before but i thought i would today. Not seeing any in bags i went inside to the register and asked the bob-​cut, dark brown haired lady if they had mulch, where it is and how much it was. Each question was met with curt answers, barely any eye contact and she generally looked like i was bothering her. Confused about some sort of bag i need to fill myself i returned outside.
I didn’t see the mulch pile right away, and since i was confused by the attendant’s lack of helpful information, i returned to the greenhouse. I went back to her counter and asked if i could get some help because i have not bought mulch here before and, very curtly, was told that i have to pay for it first and then bag it– ohhh, that is not what she said/​i heard the first time, otherwise why would I have just walked outside without paying? You would think that would have been the point that she helped me or directed me to someone on the floor.
I reiterated that i have not bought mulch here before and was confused about how to go about it. She said «Ohh» and then told me the procedure, as if i was a naughty child and was in trouble. at this point i couldn’t take her attitude of superiority anymore and told her, in an even voice, that it was obvious that my being there, and my business was bothering her, and i left feeling humiliated. In front of all the other customers, she treated my 30 yr old, bright red haired, nose pierced self like i was a disgusting piece of trash that she couldn’t even look in the face.
She even asked me how i planned to «walk my purchase home». I told her i would put it in my Jeep. I wonder if she assumes that everyone is walking, or she was just stereotyping me.
Moral of the story– If you have something else you have to accomplish, like paperwork, maybe standing at the cash register isn’t the best place. If it is the only place, maybe let your customer know that you are busy and direct them to someone else for help. If you don’t like the cut of my gib, maybe take a job that isn’t with the public, or free your mind because this is a diverse and wonderful world. Making customers feel like dog shit on the bottom of your shoe is not the winning way.

While I don’t have the greenest of thumbs, I can generally hold my own when it comes to gardening.
What Farmer Clem’s has that garden centers, like you’ll find at box stores don’t, is variety. They’ve got just about everything: premade potted plants, hanging baskets, annuals, perennials, shrubs and bushes. There’s a little bit of everything for just about everyone.
I don’t know if I caught them on an off day but their service isn’t so great.
I had lugged my selections up to the counter (I should say there was no one else in the place at the time) stood there while being ignored by two staff members who were standing behind the cash but were discussing something that had happened earlier in the day. I asked for some help getting a hanging basket down. One of the staffers turned, pointed and told me to «go ask him». Turns out the «him» wasn’t much better on the friendly front. I pointed out which one I wanted, he got it down, I thanked him, but he had totally ignored me and gone straight back to what it was I had interrupted him from.
I made my way back up to the cash where the conversation was still going on. Then when the conversation broke up one of the girls went off to do something else and the other looked at me and said she was going home because «I just can’t stay here one more minute, I’ve had a rough busy day». Really? Go right ahead. I don’t have anywhere to be I’ll just stand here until someone notices me. So I said «So, should I go elsewhere to make my purchases?». Magically she was able to muster the strength to ring my order in for me. Sure, my response was a bit snarky but you don’t basically tell a customer you’re not ringing them in because you’re too tired. If I tried that stunt I’d be in serious do-​do.
Their plants all appear to be well taken care of and in good shape. so if you’re looking for good quality plants that will last the season Clem’s is probably a good spot to check out. Just don’t expect to be dazzled by their service.

I once killed a cactus in Reno just to watch it die. Well, not really. I tried to take care of it for my sister but it somehow didn’t last three months. Let’s just say, I’m not known for my green thumb. Still, that hasn’t stopped me from trying to grow green things every now and again.
This location is open year round, but is at its best in the warmer months. It’s lined with trays of annuals, perennials, bushes and trees. Also during the warmer months is a plethora of fresh local produce at great deals.
If you’re a gardening maven, then go to Clem’s for everything you could need under this large barnyard greenhouse roof. If you’re a brown thumb like me, go to Clem’s too; the people there usually know what they’re doing and can recommend some easy, low-​maintenance plants you can start with.

Farmer’s Cleam’s is a must for all those gardners. Although I am not a big gardner, I love to go to these shops and dream of what I might be able to accomplish if I had a green thumb. I am jealous of people that are able to create such beautiful gardens and arrangements.
I do appreciate all the wonderful selection Clem’s has. I do usually buy a burning bush or one similiar for my mother every year. Clems is a gardeners dream.
Wonderful smells capture you as you wonder the isles, and the staff are extremely helpful.

Bloomers and buds, blossoms and bulbs — the smell of soil and tender green foliage is wistful at this fancy make shift botanical dream shop.
Swinging into Farmer Clem’s is as easy as lemonade on a summer’s day. You can veer right off the road into the parking lot and step effortlessly into the clear paned walls of this gardening mecca. Even from the car window, I could see the fuchsia flowers and the green leaves beckoning me to come and take a closer peek.
I have fond memories of Farmer Clem’s visits as a child. My mother would peruse the array of plants, while my brother and I would roll about the bags of warm soil interspersed with gentle sniffs of freshly blooming clusters of shoots and petals. Yesterday, I strolled aimlessly around the greenhouse, amidst my thoughts and the fresh spring life.
The shop is cool and smells divine, with perennials and shrubs coexisting under the tented roof. The employees are helpful and the selection is endless. I’m not sure what reasonable prices are, but theirs seemed accessible and fair for the high quality botanicals on offer.
Farmer Clem’s is an inspiring floral shop. Not only can you exchange dollars for plants, but you can walk the aisles, taking in the aromas and meditating on the effortless beauty of plant life. What an easy way to spend some time…
