Ahh… The Dartmouth Sportsplex I Drive Across The Bridge And a that’s The First Thing I Look At! The Facility Is Great Parking Meh Exercises Around a the Facility Are Complete Worthy To Try Out The Pool Is Very Relaxing And You Can Pay 5 $ per person to go on the waterslide isn’t to bad! And the skating rink when I was learning to skate I would fly around the corners looking at the arena itself lockers are big stands are okay and everything about the place is nice! ⁴⁄₅

I had been a member of the Dartmouth Sportsplex for about 3 years before I took up boxing at a private club, and I was quite happy with its facilities.
Cardio room — good variety of equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, rowers, steppers, etc.) and the AC blasts in the summer.
Weight room — massive area with a ton of equipment. Lots of room to move around and a separate area for stretching.
Squash courts — I’ve never used them, but they seem to be popular.
Arena — A great place to skate (especially if you’re able to attend the adult skates during the mornings). My only gripe is that the ice is not always smoothed between skates, leaving it very rough and unpleasant to scoot around on.
Running track — Awesome, especially if you have it all to yourself.
Pool — Lots of fun for people of every age, although I never really frequented it.
Staff — Like others have noticed, they are hit and miss. Most of the staff who work in the weight room are very friendly and helpful, but the front desk staff are generally unfriendly — a pity.
Parking lot — I hate this parking lot. Even after small sections of it were resurfaced, it remains full of potholes, speed bumps, and other unpleasantness.
Overall, one of the best places to belong to if you like using a variety of facilities. Well worth the cost of the membership.

The sportsplex is a great place to swim with little kids! The half-​pool has a number of steps that run the length of the pool, providing a variety of depths to allow for any comfort level with the water. There are lots of floats and toys provided and the lifeguards seemed generally charmed with my preschooler’s exuberance for jumping into the water. I can’t wait til he’s old enough to try out Pirate’s Cove!

Dartmouth Sportsplex is a great place to go for a swim. The plex boasts two pools, one moderately shallow one for kids and another deeper one for the water slides and lane swimming. With kids or without there are several types of swims: open swims, member swims, adults only, lane swims, and family swims.
If you’re bringing kids or you’re just a big kid, Pirates Cove is a favorite at the pool. The Cove is a giant Pirate Ship bursting with water slides, every kids dream. If you’re going for the cove make sure you check and see if it’s open during your swim, as it’s not always operating. They have some pretty strict rules about who can ride the slides so make sure you check them out too before you go. The plex has lockers for your stuff while you swim but most require you bring your own lock, don’t forget like I always do!
The parking lot is large but may be full if you’re swimming during the week during working hours. If you’re without a car there is a bus terminal right in the parking lot, and a number of buses coming and going from both Dartmouth and Halifax. Sportsplex is probably one of the easiest places to get to on a bus. The location of Sportsplex makes it easy for both Dartmouth and Halifax people to get to.

Facilities are excellent,…staff vary… not the friendliest crew… one female staff in particular is well… do you remember that Robert Frost poem about the world ending in ICE!!! I think the organization could offer more subsidized options for those with lesser incomes. Corporate rates are good if you are a professional!!!

Growing up I spent a lot of time at the Dartmouth Sportsplex, mainly watching my brother’s hockey games. The Sportsplex is home to a number of health and fitness programs and services. An ice surface, cardio gym, weight room, 2 swimming pools, fitness classes and a new indoor running track are all housed int his building with a number of community rooms available for Bingo and meetings.
My «Safe Prom» party was hosted at the Dartmouth Sportsplex and we were given basically full reign over the building overnight. The pools were open for swimming, and the lifeguards that were on duty were very nice, despite the fact that they had to stay awake overnight with a few hundred high school graduates.
Hot Hint: If you are looking for a fitness pass that give you a great variety of workouts this is the place to go. A membership gives access to all the facilities, and a discounted rate on exercise classes.

I have to give an update to the Sportsplex. We went over there for the Pirates-​Cove Swim on Friday night.
This review is for a particular staff member who was in need of some serious coaching for customer service.
Now, before we went, the site says go at least 45 min before hand to line up and they start to sell tickets half an hour before the swim which was at 7:30 pm. The reason for this insanity of earliness was because of March Break.
So we went there for 6:30. We went up to the desk to ask for the tickets and she said they would start selling them at 7:00.
No problem, she told us to stand in the line, which is what we did. There was another lady there with her children who was there since 5:30 pm, she thought she could buy hers ahead of time. Policy is No!
I understand why this policy is, so I do not have an issue with that.
The issue was with the lady, who we believe was management.
She proceeded to tell us to leave and come back, that we were interrupting the line of the people who were going in for the 6:30 swim.
Please take note, there was no one in a line for the 6:30 swim, they simply walked right up to the counter and we are talking a span of 2 minutes.
Now, being the person I am, I simply said, no. I was not going to walk around for ½ hour to come back and stand at the end of a line when I am standing at the beginning right now, where is the logic there, I will tell you, There Is None!
The other lady, however was not quite so diplomatic, she and the manger started to exchange words. The Manger was telling us to leave and come back, the lady was very unhappy that we were being told to go and do something else and come back.
Let’s just say, after we all had words with Miss Congeniality, we stayed exactly where we were and within 15 minutes the line was down the hall.
Hind-​site, we would have left and been at the end of the line. I would hate to hear the conversation at that point.
It is unfortunate that she was on duty that evening, as she did not win anyone over, just annoyed everyone. And we all thought she was poor with the customer service.
Now, the swim, that was good. Lots of life guards. Great Fun!

Dartmouth Sportsplex is a true treasure for the community: it offers activities for all ages under one roof. From hockey to swimming, weights to ellipticals, open skating to fitness classes, everything you could need for your active lifestyle is available at the Dartmouth Sportsplex.
The Sportsplex is conveniently located at the foot of the MacDonald bridge, across from the Bridgeview Plaza shopping centre (Shoppers Drug Mart, Save-​Easy). The main Dartmouth bus terminal is adjacent, making access easy even for those who choose to be car-​free.
Open skates are available from September to early spring and public swims (as well as swim sessions targeted to specific populations — adult only, family only, lap swims) are held year-​round. Of particular interest to kids is Pirate’s Cove — a series of water slides into the deep end. There are age and proficiency levels applied to the slides, so it’s best to check with administration before you go. The Sportsplex also enforces an «adult present» policy for younger children, so expect to get in the pool with your little ones. For other services, such as gym attendance or fitness classes, a child-​care program is offered with generous hours.
Of particular note is that the Sportsplex offers corporate discounts. These significantly decrease the cost of membership and make it truly affordable for almost everyone.
