Smithrite Disposal

This company threatens their employees to cross picket lines or face losing their jobs. Why would anyone support a company like that? Clearly from their other reviews there are just so many reasons to boycott!

We were behind a Smithrite Roll-​off truck on 109^st near the High Level Bridge early in the morning on June 12, 2015. The driver had passed many signs warning of the height restriction on the High Level Bridge but continued toward the bridge through the lights; he hit the height restriction bar where we stopped a ways back from him and he quickly put it into reverse and gunned it smashing into our vehicle and pushing it backwards as the front of our car crumpled under the bin he was carrying. Miraculously our car spun around and free from under the huge steel bin or I wouldn’t be writing this review. He continued to back up and realized he had hit us but stayed in his truck, then got out to take pictures, not even asking if we were injured. He was charged by police at the scene. The police officer said «Don’t worry dear, it is easy to see what happened here». It was bad enough that our car was completely totaled and that we narrowly escaped being fatalities but not to even care if anyone was injured is absolutely unforgivable of that driver and he should be fired. Obviously safety first was not what he cared about; he just knew he was in the wrong place and didn’t bother to look behind to see if he could back up safely. The Insurance company deemed he was 100% at fault and I am still awaiting a formal apology from him or the company, I really don’t feel that is too much to ask for in this case.

Watched a smithrite garbage truck almost run over a biker while turning right on hornby street from dunsmuir. So aside from the fact that the truck doesn’t shoulder check for those that have the right of way, they illegally turn right. If you are going to do something illegal, I guess kill someone along the way? Would never recommend someone with such disregard for safety. Google their name and you will see that they have no disregard for the law.
