The food was very bad. However there were lots of Vietnamese people eating here. Perhaps just not suited to Canadian tastes.

Phở: I was surprised to find that not all Phở 99 tasted the same. This place has a very flavourful soup and although I can taste the spice pack, it is not too strong like the other places. Noodle consistency is good. Meat amount is good as well. Service: Waitresses/waiters are friendly and provided good service. Price: $ 9 for a soup Cleaniness: Satisfactory.

Very tasty broth… so tasty I will drive from Burnaby to have the phở here. Always plenty of meat in the soup, too. I like most of their rolls but find the pork rolls the best. One of the top 3 phở places in my experience.

Everything we ordered taste great. Coffee is too strong for me though. And not enough meat on the noodles!

At fist i thought the restaurant is franchise so it must be not authentic. However the food was very tasty. me and my friend ordered chicken phở, rice combo, salad roll and fried roll. Their chicken phở is the best and their rice combo is huuugee. The fried roll tastes good but too oily for me. I like the service here. The ladies are very nice, good english skills too lol. You cant expect them to come to you every 5 – 10 mins asking how everything is, it’s how Asian restaurants are generally.

I’ve been looking for nice phở place in Vancouver all other places were not good since they were only hot noodles. This place is the only place that I was satisfied

Waited in line to order bbq sub for takeout. there were a couple of people in front of me. When the lady finished handling the bills and money she proceeded to make my sandwich in front of me. She didn’t wash her hands or use gloves and handle my food. Unfortunate because I like going there. Maybe she didn’t realize.

First time eating here, ordered a regular bowl and couple salad rolls. The server yanked the menu from me before I could eve finish my orders. I ordered beef ball and Raw beef noodle. The bowl came with three pieces of sliced meet and two beef balls. I think if she could throw the bowl at me without spilling it she would have. I’m never coming here again. And the salad roll was small and dry, the noodles in the soup were all clumped to the bottom… this place is so crappy I’m never going to understand why people still come here. Maybe they enjoy the abuse. Edit* as I’m eating, I realized the«beef ball» is actually pork and undercooked. Still getting two stars for edibility, because I hate to waste food.

Came here on a Saturday night after catching a movie at the Silvercity next door. It was around 9pm, and I was hungry. Was in need of food desperately so a bowl of Phở sounded like a good idea. Stepped in the door and immediately I notice this strong bleach smell. It appears they have been either mopping the floor or cleaning the tables. The smell was fairly overwhelming but since i was starving i figure i would try to ignore it and sit down at a table. Ordered a Large number 1 and after i placed the order I started to regret sitting down as the strong bleach smell was not going away. Not only was i disturbed by the strong odor, the bowl of food was also very disappointing. Only 2 – 3 small pieces of meat were to be found and the broth tasted unusually plain. I mean comeon, $ 9 for a bowl of phở and that’s all you can do? How much would it cost you to throw a couple more pieces of meat in. I finished the bowl and I was still hungy. I quickly left the restaurant after i finished eating as I became very uncomfortable and felt sick just by sitting in there. I am not going back to this place and will just go to the Pho99 on Lougheed next time. I don’t understand why they don’t clean the floor after they close for the day when there are no customers in there. And if they do decide to clean, why don’t they use something that smells less ‘offensive’. I understand this is not a fine dining establishment, but I feel restaurant owners need to pay attention to small details like this.

Best Bun Bo Hue! I go here at least once a week and have never been disappointed. Great food and prices are reasonable. The durian smoothie is also fantastic.

3.5 stars actually. Not a fan of their Phở(broth has a weird taste in my opinon and noodle always comes out over cooked — for that reason my husby and I also avoid their dry noodle dishes) but their rice plates are pretty good, especially the lemongrass pork slices. Staff are attentive prior to order taking but don’t expect them to clear your table before you leave.

Vietnamese food is not on my top of fave foods but my husband loves phở so I go here and there. We were planning to watch a movie 2 minutes away so we decided on this place. Big location for a Phở restaurant. Has tv’s, its like a phở sports bar??? Would be great for a large group. I ordered a vermicelli bowl with spring roll, bbq meats, and salad. It was good. I also tried the hot Vietnamese coffee with condense milk. Service ok, it was slow when we came but I felt like we had to get their attention to get anything.

Been going here for a while… pretty much since they opened. Food here is good. I’ve had various rice, vermicelli and phở dishes. Haven’t been disappointed yet. Portions are large and prices are good. Service is pretty spotty. I frequently have to ask for things twice. It’s a newer location so it’s pretty clean. Not a bad place to go before hitting up SilverCity next door. This is not a date night place, nor is it a special occasion type of place. It’s a cheap and cheerful kind of place. It’s good value for money but don’t expect anything extraordinary.

Came here a few times when I had a Phở craving when I lived in Coquitlam. Decent selection and it always arrived in a timely manner with great service. Great cheap phở for those guilty pleasure cravings. I love watching my raw meat getting cooked in broth.

My Friday phở soup night cravings led me back to Phở 99, since I was going to be at the Homesense in the area and all. I should add that I’ve been back several times since my first review and it has always been great. Until tonight. Strike one. I was brushed off very rudely phoning my pick up order in. Vietnamese man answers the phone pleasantly enough. In the middle of me reciting my order(*one large number 5 and one lar…*), he literally hands over the phone to a female colleague. I heard him in his halting English through the phone, telling his coworker to take the phone call for a pickup order. Without warning me or telling me to hold on. Now, I don’t know what the hells going on there, but that’s effing rude my man. Who does shit like that?! Strike two. I get there half an hour later and encounter who I assume is the same gentleman. I attempted to add chicken wings to my order and asked him how long it would take. He gives me this«tsk, ooohhh, looong,» with a smiley face to boot. I asked again how long. He replies with, «about five minutes». Dude, that is not long at all. However, after he explained that they’re not that busy so they would have to start the deep fryer all over, I got the point. I don’t want wings cooked in stale oil and I’m assuming here at this point based on his I-don’t-want-to-sell-tonight attitude. I doubt they’d fry it in fresh oil. And I don’t want to give you more of my business. Strike three. I get home to find out I have lukewarm broth and no fixins’ whatsoever. FYI, phở usually comes with a small tub of hoisin/hot sauce, a bunch of cilantro and bean sprouts. Unfortunately, I had also just run out of hoisin. I put in tonkatsu sauce in my soup, which was kinda weird but it somehow worked. It usually also comes pipin’ freakin’ scaldin’ hot, even for take out. I had to microwave my phở cause I was too hungry at this point. Not to mention my two large phở bowls came with unidentified scraps of meat. I could have easily paid for two small bowls with their portions. Needless to say, I was severely unimpressed by how fast they’ve gone downhill for a new place. And you’re out. Going back to Phở on Lougheed.

I don’t know what they put in their soup that makes me crave it so much, but I find myself in here 3 – 4 times a week getting the same thing: small #5 with extra flank steak. I don’t know why it took me so long to try phở, but now that I have, I’ve pretty much abandoned going to any other restaurants. I always leave full and very satisfied. The wait staff tend to leave you be after they drop off your food(which arrives at your table within minutes of ordering it). I know some people don’t like this, but I’m a fan. Just make sure that you remember to order something to drink. They always drop off a small pot of tea, but don’t always remember the water. If you ever do need something, the staff are quick to fill any requests.

Phở is a GO-TO meal if you are hungry and you want something both inexpensive and tasty. I grew up eating Vietnamese food from my Vietnamese BFF. Delicious– my home away from home. Phở 99 is great. I always end up getting the same things, but they never fail with my order. No complaints here.

New phở on the block and they have the right stuff baby! While we are normally the type to be hangin’ tough at home, a hangover combined with the tailing end of a cold created an excellent opportunity to try out the brand new phở 99 in our area. So step by step we went out to give it a try. This place doesn’t feel like your traditional phở restaurant, perhaps this is a good thing? As I mentioned earlier this place is new, you can still smell the fresh paint. The menu is just like most other Phở places, no surprise here. I saw the noodle and steak I stopped: «I need you!», well not so much me but my cold really needed it. Hold on, no phở is complete without a fried roll! After a very short wait the Phở arrived and it was delicious. Now I have to admit I’m no expert on the subject Phở(or phospertise I like to say) but I did enjoy what was presented to me, who wouldn’t for only $ 6.15 for a pretty good sized«small» bowl. So where do I go from here? Well i have a funny feeling I’ll be back tonight. Now that you have read this what are you going to do about it? Give them a try now as they just so happen to be giving a %20 discount(I have no idea why and for how long).
