The lackluster donnelly group has dropped the ball yet again… We waited to be seated to no avail… strike 1 The waitress came around and half filled our water glasses ‚… stupid. When we ordered, our food took quite a while for a lunch time service… Wasn’t really that busy either… I ordered the stuffed burger… Tasteless, unseasoned excuse for a shit burger… Strike 2 Server never came around to ask us how our meal was nor offered any care once food was delivered… Worst of all…$ 15 for a crappy burger… Strike 3… *Throws up* Waste of a meal, waste of my time… waste of space… sigh… another shitty establishment

This place is a drag. 1) it’s freezing inside 2) not many customers 3) One waitress 4) slow service 5) bogus happy hour– lucky lager in a can??? Really??? And u are supposed to be a craft beer place– what a joke. 6) icy wind entering from the abandoned fireplace 7)no happy hour food 8) says free snacks during happy hour– we were not offered a thing 9) no good apps on menu Bye

I went for brunch on a Saturday before shopping and it was great! They have an amazing brunch special. In the past, I have gone to Cora’s in Coquitlam, which is also good, however there is less of a wait here and the pricing is better. They also have deals on caesars and mimosas too. The staff is on point! They constantly refill your coffee or water, check on you within 3 minutes of being served food, know the menu and are very personable. The only flaw is that it very dark inside. I wish they had a different level of lighting for the morning time and if so, they just forgot to switch it. The design of the place was similar to an old irish pub with lots of detailed millwork inside.

Been twice. First time went for the $ 4 breakfast special– it’s was good and worth it. Standard fare. Second visit for was for breakfast — I went for the $ 6 skillet. It was 2 eggs on the usual potatoes with barely visible onions, mushrooms and I had to squint to see any chorizo. Just stating what I didn’t see. I’d recommend they charge $ 9 – 10 and make it a great skillet with all the stated ingredients. I’ll be back but will stick with the standard $ 4 special. Bonus is that it’s been quiet every time I’ve been on a weekend

Food sucked. When I ate 1 of 4 tacos I ordered and voiced my legitimate complaints all I got was a «sorry about that». No deduction off bill for anything I wouldn’t eat. After we left, my wife noticed I was charged for a pop refill I never asked for(server refilled without asking). Drive five minutes away to The Gillnetter Pub. They are way better than another lousy Pubic Louse.

Usually love it, today, yes it was father’s day. Went for brunch prepared to wait. We were told 45 min. After an hour we were seated(table of 4). Then 20 min for server to come over. Then she greets us with«just so you know it is going to be an hour and a half wait for your food once you order». Really?!? You couldn’t have told us ½ way into our table wait so we could order then? There were 7 people waiting it would not have been hard. So wasted an hour of my day because we walked out after that greeting. Nice business! If you are going to offer fathers day brunch then staff açcordingly. We won’t be returning.

I’ve been there 4 times, it’s close to the office. Food is Sysco bad. It’s truly a disappointment. I wish they would hang out at the Gillnetter to discover what is possible.

What a fantastic experience. I loved that the two waitresses we saw were«regular» people-not low cut busty stick like waifs in 4 inch heels. We tried pints(one each) of Goose Island beer. It has a slightly watery honey taste that seemed to expand better on my tongue after starting my amazing jalepeno and goat cheese burger with fries. Oh my I loved that burger. The jalepenos were perfectly nestled and balanced with generous gobs of heart busting goat cheese served with a steak knife stabbed vertically through it on a breadboard with a chrome bowl of french fries. A perfect portion. He had the Cajun chicken burger and enjoyed it but now just related that he still felt hungry afterward. :( Loved the atmosphere and everything although I felt if the fireplace was on or the oil candle on the table it would have been oh so much better. :)

Food was ok. I just find it weird that this place and the Townhall pub in coquitlam. Share the same menus and interior feel. Feels more like chain and not a neighborhood pub.

For a newly reno’ed & rebranded bar… it is Void Of Character And Personality. Note: If you’re going to take your little conglomerate and recreate another bar or the like, maybe try something even slightly original. Just take a look at Seattle or somewhere that understands this… Alas, one walk into this place screams out that it might as well be owned by the Donnelly Group, or another just as hell bent on stale Irish themes, salivating to only please a demographic of young cattle possibly too stupid to fathom some place better to go graze. Simply put… a laundry mat or in the least someone’s basement Tiki bar would be more interesting. And it’s not that it so god awful, it’s not, it’s that it’s so god darn generic; Does Vancouver & Tri-Cities area really need another fakeyass Irish pub like this? NO! YUK!

I had a Montréal Smoked Meat on multigrain with a garden salad. I had never had a smoked meat sanwich with thinly(shaved) meat, but it was delicious. I love having lunch/dinner items for breakfast! Service wasn’t the friendliest, but good enough. Not really the type of place you’d expect exemplary service anyways, so I’m not complaining. Will be back if I happen to have another seminar/meeting in the area.

I’m not sure why the bum rap so far on this reincarnated pub? I’ve been here twice and was happy with my food and beverage options and prices, although I will say that the service got kind of slow towards the end of our Saturday evening visit. In terms of food the portion sizes on some of the appies are small, but honestly, I don’t think anyone needs to eat more than the offered 5 stuffed, deep-fried, chicken wings or the 6 pieces of fried pickle. The appies also come with a bowl of fries so you get a fair bit in terms of volume once that is factored in. I had the French onion soup and a smoked meat sandwich on my first visit and couldn’t eat the whole thing. On the second visit the BF and I shared the aforementioned pickles, stuffed chicken wings and a pulled pork flatbread(the same size as your average flatbread, if you want to know) and couldn’t possibly have consumed more if we’d tried. The food is not true gastropub, but definitely ‘fancies up’ a number of pub favourites and it is INFINITELY better than the terrible, straight-out-of-a-package-and-into-the-microwave stuff The Two Parrots served. The drinks run a bit on the pricey side if you’re interested in getting into their bottled selection, but if you stick to on-tap it will be about the same as what you pay at any other more upscale pub in the ‘burbs. They seem to have some interesting, local, rotating taps and the Foundry English-style cider(from Ontario) is a far superior option to Strongbow. Overall, this is a solid establishment with the only glaring issue being that service is slow and often seems scattered as the evening gets busy. If you make sure to plan for that inevitability by ordering your next drink a bit earlier than normal or asking for your bill well in advance of needing it, you should have an okay time.

Micky’s Public House is a huge, welcomed change from the Two Parrots. The renos are beautiful and it looks more like what a pub should look like, Irish pub theme without it being forced down your throat. Craft beers, including Innis n Gunn kilkenny, London pride, and delicious Somersby cider. Great big venue, beautiful friendly servers, definately worth checking out.

I used to head over to the Two Parrots quite often as it’s not far from work, and it was one of those dingey but laid back places that meant you could sneak in and out without anyone really noticing you were ever there. The new exterior is nice, but reminds me of something a little too hipster and Gastown-y to really fit in with the surrounding industrial area. The new interior looks fantastic, and it was about time they eliminated the restaurant section, as let’s face it, there aren’t exactly a lot of kids doing the 9 – 5 shift in the industrial park, and not many families really want to being their children somewhere with a drunk viewing area. I’ve noticed quite a few of the regulars have disappeared too, and can’t help but wonder if it’s the new, inflated prices or the new clientele that has scared them away… The appies looked like the standard, fried, pub fare. The deep fried pickles were ok, but had too much breading, which made them soggy when they cooled down and caused all the breading to slide off in your first bite. Not only that, but 8 $ for a sliced fried pickle seemed like a bit much. Maybe I would’ve felt better spending the cash if the portion size was slightly bigger. They had some stuffed chicken wings which caught my interest, but being a giant pickle fan, and not such a fried food fan, I decided to go with one of the two, and the wings lost out. My friend and I split the smoked meat sandwich, which was decent, but the bottom bread was really soggy, which led me to believe it sat under the hot lamps for quite a while before our server brought it out. This place will suffice for a Friday lunch, as they have a nice patio, and the drink list was ok(but also slightly overpriced), but I don’t see myself being a regular here, or even coming in on days when I’m not already working in the neighbourhood. They had the best of intentions with the reno, it’s just too bad the menu overhaul wasn’t as promising as the decorating.

Was sad when Two Parrots was bought up and changed out, but liked the look of the new place so thought I’d give it a try. Beer selection is decent and the staff are friendly, but the food is overpriced and completely bland. Presentation gets an A for effort but a zero for functionality. My brother had the blackened chicken sandwich which was tasty, but the portion size was a joke. 4 bites and it was gone. I had the fish and chips, which was two shaped tubes of fish coated in Panko Breading and served on a wooden platter with a newspaper between the platter and food. I wasn’t sure if I should pick it up and dip it and eat it(sloppy) or cut into it with a knife and fork(insanely sloppy). I get the homage to the days of fish and chips being served in a newspaper cone in Britain, but this immediately turned me off as the grease from the fish soaked into the newspaper and created a paper mâché mush of pulp and ink. Not to mention how my mind wandered to how many hands and germs had touched the sheet of paper before it wound up being a grease catcher in front of me. Hopefully they will get some sense when it comes to their presentation and serve up things that are edible and presentable. Avoid completely for now. If they are still around in 4 – 6 months, I’ll give em a try again.
