History

Profile of Jim Pearcy, CPA, CGA

Jim is uniquely qualified to assist you in any business, accounting or tax matter. He earned his Certified General Accountant designation during the 10 years he worked for the Canada Revenue Agency. During this time, he witnessed firsthand that individuals and businesses without a professional accountant made costly mistakes and usually received higher tax assessments when they were audited.

After leaving the government, Jim went to work as a Tax Specialist in one of the world’s largest accounting firms, Arthur Andersen LLP. Subsequently, he became the Chief Financial Officer and Controller of a manufacturing company. He then went on to work for a public practice accounting firm as a senior accountant before opening his own firm.

Jim is past a Director of the local chapter of the Certified General Accountants’ Association. He has served as a Director of the Tri-​Cities Chamber of Commerce. Jim has taught courses in Tax and Finance for the Douglas College Self-​Employment Program. He has worked on the City of Coquitlam’s Business and Economic Advisory Committee, and the Strategic Planning Committee. He has volunteered as a Director and Treasurer of the local Rotary Club’s Foundation.
