I regularly order take-out from this well-hidden gem of a sushi place. The food is extremely fresh and they have great customer service. The owners are extremely courteous, respectful and do not take your business for granted.

Really really big rise ball! Good for who want to eat healthy food. Free parking in the mall!

Great place hidden within a tiny asian mall. Service was pretty good, and the staff was very accomodating.

By far one of the best sushi joints I’ve found in Coquitlam. A little hard to find tucked away inside a small shopping mall, but well worth the search. Everything was extremely fresh and delicious(beef don was extra-nice). We tried the creamy lava roll: I would recommend it!

The good: service. Being a small place, they are super friendly and happy to serve. The not so good: being a smaller place you can hear the conversations. Unfortunately we had a loud and obnoxious group beside us… that was like hearing your ex wife nag you to death! No stars take off for this. The food was standard sushi with smaller portions. I would have preferred them to increase their cuts 25% larger and charge another 25 cents per piece more. Good service with decent prices albeit a tad smaller portions operated by mom and pop makes you wanna support them.

Excellent little place inside an unknown mall. Prices are reasonable and food is good. Must try is the big bowl which consist of fresh sashimi and vegetables mixed rice. Place is small but as there are not many people who know about this treasure there is no need to call ahead. They do have take out which I see many people ordering.

Rolls were good, prices better than most sushi places. Very small little place hidden inside a very dead Asian mall. Service wasn’t very attentive at all and the water had a weird taste to it at our table. like it had been soaking up cardboard. Would still go back if I was in coquitlam and wanted a place for safe, good rolls.

I always delete a star for farmed salmon, especially when wild is not even available. The non-roll dishes we ordered were just plain weird. It was as though the chef had never tried these menu items elsewhere and was using some recipes found on the net. Chicken teriyaki don was much more like Chinese stir fry. It seemed obvious there was a lack of experience. If you choose to come here, stick with the rolls which are quite good. Definitely not a 5 star place. No way.

I love this place! I’ve known this place for 7 years and I still go there whenever I go to coquitlam. Seared tuna, Hotnight Roll, and Baked Salmon Roll are some of my favourites there(must try them!). They used to give out Miso Soup for free for everyone but if you say you are there for the first time, they’ll probably give you for free. The price is relatively cheaper than other sushi places. Prices for special rolls vary from $ 5 – 10 which is pretty good(Some sushi restaurants charge at least $ 9 for a special roll). Location is kind of hard to find, because it’s middle of the Chinese mall building, but it is definitely worth to go.

As everyone goes to the usual«Sushi Town or Garden» I like going here when I am craving sushi near home. They have really fresh tasting fish. It is a very small restaurant hidden inside a dead-looking(but it’s not) mall, which almost reminds me of the movie«Jiro: Dreams of Sushi.» The size of the restaurant is not a problem for me as I usually do take out. I highly recommend trying their specialty — Hwe Dup Bap — which is like an Assorted Sashimi Donburi with their house spicy sauce. For rolls, I recommend Hot Night Roll. The staff is really nice and polite. Most of them are older(owners) with a few waitresses looking like students. I almost feel like I dont want this place to become popular. Definitely WAY better than your usual westernized Sushi joints(Sushi Garden, Town). So if you are around Coquitlam Centre, I would drop by here and give it a try.

The Hoedeopbap is good — similar to some of the other Korean places on North Road where you can get them. What stood out for me was the attentive management which wrote down my allergies and checked when giving me my take out order that there were no eggs or dairy in it. They lady who took my order also specifically told me they didn’t provide the spicy tuna sauce that usually comes with the dish because it has mayonnaise in it. Same can’t be said with numerous other sushi places with silly sauces that include mayonnaise. A small gesture like that will ensure I will return.

Definitely try the Hoedeobap! Amazing. Fresh sashimi. Great price. Great to find this little gem in the neighborhood. Can’t wait to come back again.

Hwe Duk Bap. This is their specialty. My dad & brother brought me here and loved it. I am only sad that couldn’t eat here 1 more time before I leave! It’s a healthy meal and so delicious!

I work near them and quite often pop in for lunch. Its a nicely tucked away little gem of a place and the owners and staff are incredibly friendly and sweet. They have amazing sushi and just as amazing service. Plus they always remember my lunch order that I pick up. I’m know as the Sake Don, no wasabi, ½ rice pick up order. :) You guys do an amazing job and I love your food!

I am surprised that this place is not on Unilocal it is kind of tucked away in a semi-dead Asian mall by Coquitlam Centre I almost didn’t want to put up a review about them on Unilocal because I’m afraid that more people would start going there and the owners might raise prices :( It really is a hidden gem in the Coquitlam area for Japanese food They are cheap & fresh IMO, they have the best udon — most of the other places butcher their udon and end up tasting like cooked udon noodles in warm water This place somehow gets the soup right ! their sushi tastes fresh and the rice(which is quite important as well) is cooked just right I especially recommend their Hoi-Deop-Bab, which is assorted sashimi on rice with salad — with spicy pepper paste huge portions — good enough to be shared between 2 adult women and $ 9.95 They have your typical selection of Japanese restaurant — sashimi, sushi, bunch of rolls, udon & donburi I’ve yet to be disappointed by anything I’ve ordered off their menu after coming here, I’ve never gone back to sashimi sushi or togo sushi(both @ coquitlam centre) or sui sha ya across the street one warning though — parking can be crap. if you can’t manage to find a space on the street, you will have to enter the buildling and park your car inside their garage, which have really tight spaces
