I purchased a Groupon for $ 59 individual lashes for my upcoming wedding. I saw the one review here but decided to give this place a chance. I went today for an appointment. The place is hard to find. When I arrived, the interior looked nice enough but there was only one woman working. «Raj» was sitting by the door on her Iphone and earbuds in. She really didn’t look like she wanted to do any work. When I walked in, she took one look at me and told me that she couldn’t do it. She told me that my eyelashes were too short. I was annoyed but gave her the benefit of the doubt since my eyes were not under her control. The vibe I got from being there totally made me feel like I was obliging her to do work on me. She constantly tried to «up-​sell» other things to me like «premium» lashes and a facial. I asked her about the difference between the lashes and «Raj» pulled out her Iphone and got on Facebook. Shes showed me lashes from ANOTHER company’s page… I inquired about those «premium» lashes and was told that only her manager could do it. She got on the phone with her manager and then put her own manager on HOLD to answer another phone call while I was just standing there waiting. She constantly said to the manager that she’d prefer to «not do it because she would not look natural on her wedding day». The manager was not able to come in to do my lashes in «premium». I asked for a refund and was again pestered to make a different purchase. I promptly left after traveling almost an hour in rush hour to get to this location for nothing. Overall, the experience was VERY inconvenient and the staff unprofessional (and to be frank, lazy). I would definitely avoid.
ETA: A message was left on my phone today from a very apologetic Ina (manager/​owner?). She constantly defended her employee’s position of not «upselling» to me (despite her not being there to hear it). This leads me to believe that The Wellness Spot does indeed read their reviews here on Unilocal.Suspiciously, a quick very positive review was added today by «Jack» at this location attempting to lure more first time customers. So I will say again, buyer beware. I think that instead of trying to save face, The Wellness Spot needs to take a good hard look at their employees. Make the business a priority and ensure that whoever works for you feels the same. A customer can tell if you are passionate about your job or not. When I arrived, your only employee greeted me with very exaggerated and heavy make-​up and proceeded to tell me that if she did my eyelashes, I would not look natural. I believe this narrows down your customer base a great deal if you are only catering to those who want to look fake. Perhaps it is time to re-​evaluate your business model.
That said, I will not be returning. Despite your offer of a free eyelash session, who would return after constantly being told that they would a) not look natural, b) that it should only be worn in the club or on the beach and c) put my face in the hands of someone who is not committed or passionate about their job?
Groupon has also processed my refund quickly this morning. I am actually quite glad that they did not do any work on me. Right off the bat I felt uncomfortable. They kept reiterating the potential «side effects» and who knows what they could’ve done to my skin or face before my big day!
Third Edit: I went to another place today and the lady did my lashes with NO problems. She said my lashes were fine. The woman I went to has at least 6 years experience, a certification for eyelash extensions and she teaches a course in it. I now have extensions in and couldn’t be happier.
